Good heavens: Vatican rehabilitating Galileo
happythoughts replied to Butters's topic in Speakers Corner
Jesus saves. I think that Moses was more of a long-term investor (40 years of wandering in the desert). However, he should have followed a more detailed plan, instead of just wandering. Then, there were the hostile takeovers, such as Canaan. So, you don't have to be a saver. -
I guess you realize that this thread makes you the Alpha Geek.

Good heavens: Vatican rehabilitating Galileo

So... when the Catholic church declares something as Divine Truth, and then changes their mind... Were they right the first time, or the second time? Also, in the future, how can we tell if they are right when they are claim something, or we should wait for the corrected version? It is so difficult to differentiate between the opposing Divinely Inspired statements. -
I don't worry. I have a guy that I pay $250K a year and he does all my worrying. I don't really have the $250K to pay him, but... that's his problem.

Who's hotter, Jennifer Aniston or Angelina Jolie?
happythoughts replied to Muenkel's topic in The Bonfire
My two neighbors discuss which of their classic early 90s cars is better. Sure, there were some classic cars, they were fun at the time. The old ones had tranny problems at 70K and the alternator went at 50K. The new ones are built better and outperform them. JA has just started doing partial nude scenes in movies and magazines to revive her career before she lands on daytime soaps. Her magazine pics can be used as a coaster to set my drink on, while I search for pics on the internet. AJ pushes the hot/wild image, but so does Megan Fox and Megan is 22. -
Something came up. A guy calls into work and tells the clerk that he isn't coming in because he is sick. The clerk replies, "Well, you don't sound sick." The guy says, "I took off the morning because I'm having sex with my sister. Is that sick or what?" (Yeah... you're goin' straight to Hell if you repeat that joke)

I like the new hair color.

No, that is "Sky". However, I did see him at the dz yesterday organizing some 6-10 ways. This persons last name is C...ski. He and his wife are Zhills regulars.
-
For those of you who know Ski and Donna - Yesterday, we did a nice 20-way for his 5000th. He's got some time in sport measured in decades.

How much does a hooker cost in your town?
happythoughts replied to Tuna-Salad's topic in The Bonfire
Damn, that's a whole different thread! You try and do a little research to save people some money... and, all of a sudden, everyone is picky. How ungrateful. It was you wasn't it? You did #3... It's all so clear now. You are sticking up for her and trying to justify why you showed us the "research". No, that's my stable. Just trying to advertise using the web. (And we have a "seniors discount" on Wednesdays) These are for the "less romantic" crowd who aren't interesting in kisses on the beach. Admit it, from a certain angle, they'd look as good as the $500 ones. -
The only successful SCR attempts were on Wednesday and Saturday. You really don't know fear until you are in the base on those SCR attempts.

You've just realized that you're not dead. There are people who sit at home and watch other people living on their favorite tv shows. They're mostly dead, they just keep moving. DEAD PERSON: I'm not dead! CART MASTER: 'Ere. He says he's not dead! CUSTOMER: Yes, he is. DEAD PERSON: I'm not! CART MASTER: He isn't? CUSTOMER: Well, he will be soon. He's very ill. DEAD PERSON: I'm getting better! CUSTOMER: No, you're not. You'll be stone dead in a moment. CART MASTER: Oh, I can't take him like that. It's against regulations. DEAD PERSON: I don't want to go on the cart! CUSTOMER: Oh, don't be such a baby. CART MASTER: I can't take him. DEAD PERSON: I feel fine!

It's the lure of coupons. Riding around with a Buy-One Get-One coupon... "Hey! How much for the both of us?" I wonder how they live on $30 a month. -

This weeks talent in Orlando... clicky for pics I am theorizing that the one on the left is a woman because of her name. The jury is still out on the species of picture 3. -
I understood. I was just hijacking my own thread momentarily. "appears to be" If someone names one kid "Aryan Nation" and ask for a swastika on a birthday cake, we'll go ahead and check the "yes" box on the supremacist questionnaire.

Sorry but: Article: http://www.post-gazette.com/magazine/20010214scentoflove2.asp Womens arousal? I use Irish Foreplay. If she's got her clothes off, I just yell "I'm ready Bridgitte" and have at it. I, however, love bbq sauce. So, I may apply it to her strategic places.

Jocks or Goths? You are probably right. I understand the home-schooling thing, but not for the same reasons. There are too many examples of social interaction in schools that would probably be illegal in the outside adult world. Who gets pushed down on a sidewalk at work? My ex was in a cult and a lot of the kids that we met were home-schooled because of what they saw as moral issues. People who have the money seem to send their kids to private schools. The others try home-school. Kids eventually figure things out by themselves. A public school education isn't necessarily better than h-s. One year of life on their own will give them new information.

“America’s Disappearing Industrial Base”
happythoughts replied to nerdgirl's topic in Speakers Corner
The problem that I run into in the software industry is that I work for people who don't know the difference. They are bean-counters who have no idea how to evaluate anything except on price. Conversations with a VP at Verizon: "This is a lot cheaper." "It isn't the same. You are not getting the same support. They don't install upgrades and their people unqualified and aren't trained." "Still, it is a lot cheaper." (Unfortunately, the outsource group never answers the phone and can't seem to understand how to alter tables, so development had to stop.) "This guy has a Masters from C- Univ." "It is a company, not a University. I can call and get you a Masters from them for $35 today." "He'll work for $900 a month." You can't reason with the ignorant and some refuse to try to understand. -
“America’s Disappearing Industrial Base”
happythoughts replied to nerdgirl's topic in Speakers Corner
Most of the people at the site are involved in software development and support. Three years ago, the local call center group (500 jobs) left. They are basically five large systems employers. Verizon cut their US data systems employee base in Tampa by over half in the past few years. I was working at another financial services place and my contracting firm was bought out by an overseas outfit. They immediately tried to outsource our whole project. That company is subdividing to prepare for that type of plan. JPM is international bankers. They are moving it as fast as they can. Large campus environs in both Mumbai and Bangalore. Last year, they hired 500 new employees each month during 2007. Think you've got a problem with identity theft now? -
“America’s Disappearing Industrial Base”

As far as the thread title, "Industrial Base", all those are industries too, and disappearing. JPMorgan just outsourced 300 jobs from Tampa to Manila. Well-educated employees with years of experience. -
Remember the 1800's. Mexican bandits would cross the border, rob a place, and disappear across the border again. No pursuit. A Canadian takes some vacation time. Drives across the border. Just doing some fishing. Hijacks the plane, has plenty of time to get out and back to Canada. No pursuit. The FBI is looking in the US. You can't get caught if no one is looking for you. As far as missing persons, how would US investigators hear about a Canadian citizen who disappeared? Why are people so convinced that it was someone from the US? Even so, many people went to Canada to avoid the military.

Probably, but I hesitate to google that phrase. I think that there is a stiff competition caused by a numerous and diverse list of entrants. Adults can do stuff to each other. That is their business. Kids should be left out of it.
