  1. You kind of mentioned two areas. Why do I like jumping? Should I be worried about all this? The "why" is kind of personal. Many reasons for that. For me, I love to be in the sky with my friends. Simple as that. You need to answer that one and be sure that you really want to keep jumping. It is too dangerous to do for half-assed reasons. I hope you always stay a little concerned. When you get complacent, you will do stupid things. I don't mean going over the edge, I mean disrespect for the sport. Among people who I know personally, with 500+ jumps, I would say that half have broken/fractured something at one point. Even if you manage the risk, it can certainly still hurt you. So, think about it. Read the "gear checks" threads. Maybe open a couple of hundred feet higher on nervous days. Get on the plane ready to go in emergencies. Don't rush your goals. Think about them, learn, and be patient. (If it takes 6 months to get a skill, instead of 4 months, that is certainly ok.)
  2. My life has been interesting to me and I have enjoyed it. However, I think that your life needs to be interesting to others, or have an impact on others, before they make a movie about it. If you watched tv every night for 50 years, and then saved a bunch of people from a burning building, you'd get a movie.
  3. Personal theory - if I was going to send $3m to someone that I didn't like, I'd want to be able to find them later. Hence, the inclusion of a waterproof GPS tracking device right in the middle. Implanted tracking devices are pretty standard everywhere else. I'd say that the money can be found. (It would have been more fun to find it with the pirates later)
  4. For Georger I Am Sorry, I thought the email was directed at me - with all of the quotes and copies of replies we use it is hard to tell - I used to not do " reply" and it saved space. Then later because others might not know what post I was referring to - I started doing "quotes" from the post I was answering. Now I am doing what you guys do - it causes so many posts to show - I get lost, but what do you expect from someone "Most Likely to Get Lost in a Crowd." P.S. Georger - I didn't give the FBI a hard time UNTIL AFTER March of 2000 when Agent Hope told me that "Duane had never been in the Army nor at McNeil" and I had proof to the contrary, Yet the FBI propagated and still do a statement dated 1998 that Duane had been investigated thoroughly and ruled out as a suspect. For ORANGE: If you were smart enough to figure out I was responding to a post not meant for me - couldn't you just politely have stated "Jo, that post was not directed at you." As for Outbursts, at least I only expressed an emotion. No Jo, I wasn't that smart, I assumed it was meant for Georger. Read back at what you wrote and tell me honestly it "only expressed an emotion"?? Casting for appearances on a Jerry Springer show. Slots available. -The target-person who sits there and puts up with the ranting abuse and doesn't particularly respond. -The in-your-face significant-other who screams, and eventually slaps someone, followed by a tearful disclaimer about the unfairness of any disagreeing response. -The alcoholic cousin/uncle who scowls and threatens quietly. -The neighbor who provides an accurate description of the situation, but is immediately over-shouted and ignored. It could be a great show.
  5. Interestingly enough, you immediately get a pic of my great-uncle of the same name. My grandfather had quite a collection of family pictures. When he passed away, they were donated to the local library. The library scanned the pics and put them on the web. My grandfather had 4 brothers and 2 sisters. They functioned as the town band. The pic is my grandfather's brother in his band uniform.
  6. As you say, "allegedly". You are "alleging" that he is not loveable now? Somehow, you assume that she is a candidate for sainthood and couldn't possibly cheat on a great guy? Assumption. The most disgusting sexist argument: If a guy cheats, women immediately say that it is his fault because he is a pig. If a woman cheats, it is the mans fault because the man failed to make her happy and she went elsewhere to meet her "needs". What crap. And at that point, she should have told him, been honest, and asked for a divorce. So, where is the righteous indignation from the women about her actions? I'd run a DNA check on the kids about now.
  7. The kidney was a gift. Just like jewelry, you aren't going to get it back. He isn't asking for the house. I guarantee that she will. She is going to get the house until the kids are 18, plus mega-child support. (Just the person of character that you want raising your kids.) I seriously doubt that she cares if people find out about the affair. The other party has probably moved in already. I'd consult with the b/f about an alternative source for acquiring a kidney.
  8. You need to provide your own definition. Are you living on the DZ ? Are you tent-camping? Some DZs don't allow camping on the property. Do you have a trailer? Require a plug-in? Do you just want to rent a trailer? Cooking for yourself? Does the dz have showers? Plenty of bathrooms? A nearby tunnel? You need to figure out what your plans are.
  9. I doubt it.... That's too bad. It probably seems very important to respond to comments that may have highlighted insecurities. I'm thinking of a new logon id in... 3... 2... 1... ...and a ban for that one.
  10. I couldn't cause it vanished too fast.... There's needs to be a Recycle-Bin-Annex forum where stellar examples can be enshrined.
  11. Darnit. Just my luck. I quote some stuff and my witty reparte gets trashed.
  12. Did I say ALL women? Did I say EVERY woman? Did I say THE MAJORITY of women? No. I said MANY women do this. Methinks you feel guilty for using a man for your own personal gain. And who in the fuck do you think you are tongue-in-cheek calling me a 'faggot'? Who the fuck do you think you are? You can fucking go to hell. Nice knowing ya. ...well, not all that nice. If the primary target isn't working, it seems like good helpful advice when a Plan B is provided. Of course, getting rejected by both sexes would suck.
  13. ...as Skymama goes up for three, she scores, and the troll sizzles.
  14. My neighbors have a strange cat that keeps coming over to the house. I think it is a Siamese because it has that grey-ish fur and has a poor temper. It hisses when I try to pet it. It seems to have a problem with its coat, so I'm going to give it a bath and see if that helps.
  15. So this means it happens but do people get hurt doing it? Is jumping out of a plane at 200 and deploying head down at 200 similar? TK You need to compare "apples to apples". DBC was using a round canopy. Opening characteristics are different. You can't compare the openings of a modern square to his round. Also, you can't make the assumption that DBC deployed going 200mph. First, I have jumped out of 727 at 150mph. I waited until the air friction slowed me down to 115 before dumping. My guess is that he would have been quite unstable immediately after his exit (and lost both shoes). Then, he would have done a quick freefall to slow down and regain his stability. Most video of 727 jumps are comparatively recent (mid 90's), using modern gear and square canopies. This is a question that must be answered by a jumper with experience in rounds. These issues were thoroughly discussed by the old timers here early last year - around March 08? G. Yes they were. I was trying to bring the new guy up to speed. After 10,000 posts (literally), every topic has certainly been re-hashed 10 or 12 times. I didn't want to try to dig up the link. I was hoping for a quicky 5-line explanation instead. I just wanted to highlight that the 727 exit video, that he mentioned, was probably from WFFC. That is recent video with square sport mains, so the comparison was not valid.
  16. Why is there always a choice left out? Why do people forget about the "painters"? ...it's nature's skin conditioner.

  18. Hence the problem. I follow the principle of "self-regulation". Basically, whatever I want to do is ok, as long as it is fun. Simple. For some reason, I believe that "suspicion" is not the same as guilt or evidence. The only thing that I get suspected of, is being poor. I should be able to ride around in my '91 pickup (primary color - Bondo) without being stopped on the basis that I'm not rich enough to cause trouble. If you knew the local geography, then you could look at the places where they plan to hold these "stops". None of them are in Tierra Verde, where lawyers live in $2 million homes, and would give them unending crap until the end of their very short careers.
  19. The local plan They are just going to pull you over and check everything until they find something to fine you for. Let's just torch the page about "unreasonable search". "random" Ummm...right. "Troopers will look for..." Whatever costs money. Or maybe that additional "voluntary" car search. "Heavy staffing" is the current euphemism for "over-staffed" during budget-cutting times. Sure.
  20. The moon is only part of the visibility picture. A description that someone posted earlier: If you have two or three layers of clouds and some rain, then there won't be any moonlight of value. He could have landed in the lake also. Spending all night wet, in 35-50 degree temps is enough. You don't have to drown. A 60ft tree can kill you as fast as a river. Besides, in 10-15mph winds, under a round - he was along for the ride. He couldn't see the ground and he couldn't steer himself in a substantial enough fashion to avoid anything.
  21. You are so cute when you're mad, we should snuggle.
  22. People with the inability to walk around with $40 in their pocket. They provide the two biggest types of time-wasters that I know of: 1- People who use a debit card to pay for a .75 cup of coffee and a $1 bagel. If you can't carry $10 with you to pay for your breakfast, you have bigger problems. 2- People (women) who pay for groceries with a check... and everyone has to wait because they didn't get it pre-approved... so the cashier has to call the manager... who will be "right there"... 5 minutes later.
  23. Scarlett contacted Parachutist about the memorial page. We are short on the cost. Locals should contact her with a donation to make this happen. Anything helps.
  24. Huh? And his last name is "Bush"? He must have been adopted. There were different situations. Different govt agencies. Police officers, hurricane preparedness... Each time - he supported the people, the agencies, and the process.
