  1. I hate being last out and having to close the door.
  2. Two things. 1-Lack of control in their life. "What portion of your life is out of control?" Relationships. Work. Future plans. Religion gives pseudo-answers from an invisible authority. 2- It gives them simple, but very comforting, answers to complex questions. "What happens when I die?" "How can I keep bad things from happening to me?" "What is my purpose?" "Am I a good person?" They are the questions of scared children.
  3. I attended a dz party at a bar with the "like a virgin" theme. Women (and a slightly confused man) wore the bustiers with the cones and sang a few bars of the song. The party went well. People were offended. Drinking occurred.
  4. She always had that Wicked-witch-of-the-East nose. Never found her attractive.
  5. It's like anything else, if you want to save money, then you can make it yourself. self made
  6. 17-way, 3pt 11-way, 6pt 6-way. Set the monthly distance record for spotting.
  7. Give us Barabbas? like this? I like the boots Bro... he's wearing a dress.
  8. The main thing that irritates me about English is spelling. When there are 8 zillions exceptions, then you effective lack rules. At least in Spanish, letters have a pronouncing. In English, it's a wild guess. Of course, in Spanish, inanimate objects have a "sex". "Le" or "la". Why is a table "la mesa" or a chair "la silla"? It is just "the" something. In English... take the "gh" from "enough". the "o" from "women". the "ti" from "nation". Combine it and it becomes "ghoti". Pronounced "fish". (quoted from elsewhere)
  9. It has been changed to -in'. As in, fishin', jumpin', and typin'.
  10. fly My favorite part is after he catches it. Everyone can relate to that.
  11. Crisco - less than $3 a tub on sale and it's available everywhere.
  12. (I'm going to start typing all my posts in parentheses so that deaf people can't read them. )
  13. the camper bike Out riding? A little tired? Stop anywhere.
  14. They are releasing him on the grounds of "compassion". Interesting. None of the people on that plane get to spend the rest of their lives with their families. One could say the same about the relatives of the people in My Lai. Their American murderers, although well known, went almost completely unpunished, the toughest sentence being 3 years HOUSE arrest. While outrage may well be warranted in the Lockerbie case, the US is the last place that has any right to be outraged. Individuals in the US military may have made mistakes. They are rare. After all, there have been millions of US military members. For your current discussion of officers making mistakes, British officers have a laundry list. . Vincennes was arguably a mistake (for which no apology was ever made and the captain and crew received medals). My Lai was not a mistake, it was murder. ...as the bunny trails continue. The entire history of the world can be discussed. Every avenue or possible twist can be distorted and explored. No value at all. The Lockerbie bomber was a convicted criminal. He should have died in prison.
  15. A superb sub-reference.
  16. That page also has Cooking with a Serial Killer Recipes From Dorothea Puente Whoa. How about the Dahmer Nose Pizza ? (say it fast... )

After all, there have been millions of US military members. For your current discussion of officers making mistakes, British officers have a laundry list. I always wondered why the Brits never arrested the officers who ordered the Charge of the Light Brigade. That was another example of poor leadership leading to the slaughter of their own men, again. WWII - constantly dropping commandos into areas and thousands were immediately captured. If we want to talk about historical ineptitude... ...but why would we? We are discussing the release of a terrorist, not every military mistake ever made.
  18. My two favorites for avoiding discussing a topic. 1- If you want to avoid discussing a particular incident, merely start discussing another. 2- The best one is deny the validity of the discussion by pointing out group membership of the poster. "Sure, it seems racist, but you can't talk about it because you are white." It seems to be used a lot. "The (insert membership) did it first." Sure, 60 years ago, somebody did something. Ok. If you want to discuss that, start your own thread. Using this stupid argument, nothing can ever be discussed. It is the first sure sign of a week argument. The membership can be so broad as to be meaningless. Country, race, ethnicity, gender... It implies that someone is responsible for the actions of the other members of any group that we join or end up in. It implies their agreement with any decisions made by those persons.

I have two observations. 1- Nobody has the right to tell me what I can or cannot be outraged about. Freedom of expression. 2- Injustice by one person is not related to the injustices of another. Separate cases. One case does not make the other either pardonable or punishable.
  20. They are releasing him on the grounds of "compassion". Interesting. None of the people on that plane get to spend the rest of their lives with their families. Where was his compassion? Obama has stated his objections to the release.
  21. I never know if a statement is opinion or just political posturing. I was just pleased that O agrees with me, at least publicly, on this topic.
  22. It is important to discuss this with the pilot. I have seen pilots let people out over unpopulated areas because of this possibility. People do drop stuff.
