I can think of a lot of movies that are far worse. "Cutaway" comes immediately to mind. But how many documentaries have big theater sales?
-
But, you have to watch their show, and you have to admit that Kelly is making your life choices.

I love that movie. They blow up Congress. Then, they blow up everything in this scene. Don't Run! We are your friends Mars "Perhaps this was just a misunderstanding..." What idiots.

C++ had two basic goals. It was supposed to provide a higher level language based on C. It wasn't supposed to have all the stupid memory leaks that would lock the operating system. "They're not record layouts, they're structures." Oh, look, a new word for the same thing.

+1 I learned how to program on an Apple IIe using 10 lines 10 Print Hello. Ahh, the good old days. I started using it on machines that no longer exist. "IF A = B" is a lot better than whatever garble that C uses. I still think C was a practical joke of some sort. I use VB for quick stuff in Excel, and sometimes Access. One of the more popular QA products uses VB also.

There are a lot of fascinating things that you can do with computers. However, in the real world, the goal is to get one to perform a function in a clear and cost-effective fashion. That is why computers use high-level languages instead of assembler. 85% of coding dollars are spent on maintenance of existing systems, not primary development. To this day, I love Basic. Easy to code and maintain.

Who gives a shit what religion the President is?
happythoughts replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
Religion is based upon the idea of "faith". You don't see or actually communicate with invisible people. faith If someone supports a concept and there is no logical support for their decisions, it does call their decision-making process into question. That said, many politicians claim a religious allegiance for the purely political motive of support from a large group. Handily, the group does not rely on reason to arrive at decisions. -
They still are. The same 3 people pointlessly bashing anyone who dared to venture a post involving skydiving. The only exception being the incredibly bad advice. It became an environment where people were actually driven from a conversation about skydiving. Though some people like to memorialize it like it deserved a folk song, there hasn't been one post of value on wreck in 10 years.

How I spent my day. Definitions Recently unemployed, so someone forwards me a job-related email at 8am that starts Any action that needs a "this is not stalking" disclaimer ? Is. Game rules At 11am, text received from unknown phone number. "Did I wake you?" and proceeds to the "Guess who I am ?" game. Different person. So, I guessed the wrong person and got crap for it. Being upset because I am not psychic ? I hate guessing games because my patience has a slightly longer duration than a flashbulb. I keep hearing that people over 30 are so much more mature They just seem more confused.

A favorite moment for me - I was doing a 6-way and it looked like too much cloud cover for me. I stepped aside and let a 4-way go out. Just before the count, their inside-center yells, "Chicken!" Nothing bad happened, nobody got hurt - but it was my call and I decided to ride the plane down because it didn't look good. The rest of the day, my buddies and I made a huge joke out of it. "That's Mr. Chicken to you" That is because we understand that it is better to not jump outside your comfort zone 50 times, rather than to regret one really bad choice for "the rest of your life". So, stay on the plane sometimes and suck up the cost.

It's easy to carry a can in the new European Shoulder Bags. They make great gifts. I like Old Spice, but I also don't make my decisions based on what smell I enjoy vs what Madison Avenue is selling for stupid-money per bottle. I'm going to work for an appliances place. I can take out an ad identifying all older refrigerators as "old school" and "so... last years style". I need to do that. Also, I would expect a premium for "advance orders" because the leading-edge models are unavailable. I understand how fashion works. I should be paid for doing other peoples thinking.

Is Life Sentence Too Harsh For Man Convicted of Ninth DWI?
happythoughts replied to wayneflorida's topic in Speakers Corner
yeah, I'm sure nobody EVER drove any car other than theirs when they were intoxicated. clearly if they don't own a car, they cant drive drunk... it's impossible right? I'd say it makes it more inconvenient than sending them home WITH their vehicle as done in DUI arrests one through eight. Apparently, whatever steps were taken for all the previous DUI arrests worked on a level just below Fail. So, I was suggesting an alternate strategy. We can all agree that the current method isn't producing the desired effect. -
Let's be fair, hasn't this happened to all of us at one point ? You are driving to a party, dressed up as Jesus (and Jesus would go to a party with 12 helium-filled inflatable sex dolls)... it happens. I can't be judgmental. (edited to add - this would be huge fun to try as a local church was letting out. "He's leaving without you!" )

happythoughts replied to wayneflorida's topic in Speakers Corner
If he disregarded laws prohibiting drunk driving, why would he be concerned about driving without a license? The second line - "As part of his parole, order that he sell the vehicle ? " No car, no problem. -

Are you responsible for someone else's crush on you?

Maybe - but it will get you laid! "Sex without love is an empty experience, but as empty experiences go, it's one of the best" - Woody Allen -

After the 3rd DUI, wouldn't it have been more reasonable to take away his license for 20 years ? As part of his parole, order that he sell the vehicle ? It is done in a lot of other states. I have seen it done after the 1st DUI. That would have eliminated the dangerous circumstances of DUIs 4 through 9. -
I remember my last one. Not much to look at, her bottom was all crusty, and had a big crack. Anyway, I rented her to 3 guys who were looking for a good time over the weekend. I told them that the smell could be foul at times. All three tried to get in at one time and it was a disaster. I haven't had time to shop for a new boat.

news The primary rule of statistics - when the statistics support your position, they are facts. When they do not, further study is required because there is no causative relationship. Accident figures go down at places with new red light cameras? Obviously, they are making the area safer. Figures go up? Hmm... further study is required to find an alternate reason. In the interim, your "democratic" govt will make millions of dollars. You can sue them, you can lobby, or protest. However, a camera is a cash-cow. Your vote/option/protest do not count.

Alternate tactic When churches protest you, you should go to the church and protest them. edited to add the WBC picket schedule -
The guy is sitting in a boat wearing white capri pants and has his shirt sleeves tied around his shoulders. Why would women take advice on what to buy for their hetero men from a gay guy ?

Adults use red/green conversational flags to invite/reject attention. Mostly, it is how they guide the conversation. "I wish I could find someone who genuinely cares..." "I am such a party girl. My last b/f couldn't handle my wild side." "I've been everywhere and done anything. I don't want a man who is clingy." "I go to the gym everyday, I can't get my butt firmer." (please, let's discuss my butt) or "Yes, my b/f likes to go to that place too." "...yes, but back to work - on paragraph 4." Most women are pretty obvious about their intentions. Most don't give guys the time of day unless they are interested. As a guy, I look for the flags. I really doubt that most adults don't understand this.
