  1. Your country mate as you please, however in a country awash with firearms I don't see how its possible to enforce a no gun zone effectively without disadvantaging yourself to the criminal element. 2. Not in the modern age, no...didn't the English Bill of Rights restore the right of arms to the Protestants? I'll take your word for it Grandad, I wasn't born back then. 3. So how many people does it take to make a bloodbath? Say what you like, but to me 53 sounds like more than a sinkfull. Actually the average bath capacity is 225Ltr, the human body contains for an average man around 6ltr. Therefore 53 people equals 318 Ltrs. Divided by a bath full (225 Ltr) is 1.413. So yes, 53 people is in excess of a bloodbath. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  4. It would be very unlikely to result in a blood bath. The average legally armed citizen here in the US is not all that trigger happy. I am sure it wouldn't be that much different in the UK. Then you would be wrong. Americans grow up around firearms and learn to treat them as a tool. With a few exception (ma among them) most Brits grow up in abject terror and irrational fear of firearms. For the most part our youth are educated about firearms from Hollywood and Gansta rap. Its a totally different culture, your knowledge based on US culture is not transferable to the UK population. 6. But its also important to note that with thousands rioting there was only one shooting and that was a looter shooting another. We're starting from a totally different point than in America, we have never had open access to firearms for protection en mass. You saw those feral thugs on our streets, can you imagine what would happen if they were all armed? The result would be a whole load of dead people. If I lived in the USA I would want a gun, as all your criminals have easy access to them, ours don't and these riots demonstrate that. As for the police, they have ben cut and cut and cut (like our armed forces) to the point where they have no resources to do anything else. In short once the genie is out theres no going back, your gun genie is out and always has been, ours isn't and never has been. 7. Its a very popular sport John Yes, judging from the massive sales of baseball bats since the riots started, Brits must be abandoning their traditional game of cricket in droves, to take up the classic American version of baseball. The odd thing is that the sale of collapsible shovels has also skyrocketed. Perhaps the same people who are buying the baseball bats, are also planning ahead to bury the bodies of the punks that they whack with their bats. Well we haven't as many facilities for baseball as you have over there John, we have to make our pitches first and we've only just woken up to the idea that the 'World' series only has a couple of nations in it. Seeing as we suck at Football these day we figured we stand a chance of being 'World' champs at something after all!! 9. operation 'outreach' is now in motion
  10. The statement has plenty of things in it. First and foremost, he didn't list his "parents" as somebody who would be expected to do something for him. But then again, he is 19 so one would think that he should be an adult. But that's what got me - he also didn't list himself as one of of those doing nothing for him. People, cops, the government, etc., are supposed to do it for him. Do something for himself? The only thing they will do for themselves is loot? Unless the government takes care of them then they will riot and loot? Commit property crimes? Deal drugs? Commit assaults? Robberies? I'm disheartened to see that America is not the only place where poverty pimps have created a culture of dependency. Very interesting and salient observations. Nothing will change unless WE change it. We're down but not out. My urge is to get the hell out of here, bugger off to Canada or Australia or New Zealand like so many of my peers have done. But I have decided to stay and make a difference. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

  22. Hardly news You didn't address the question, what are YOU going to do about the bankers? How are YOU going to make a positive difference to our society? When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  23. If you've got such an issue with the bankers why don't you go do something about it instead of just bitching all the time. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  24. Worse I think (a fact that I'm far from proud about). However last night was pretty calm and as the British do in an emergency the best has come out as well. People have reclaimed the streets with brooms and cups of tea. Thousands getting out there to help those who have been effected. Also people are now telling the Police en-mass who the thugs are and where they live. Police have now made almost a thousand arrests. Its also brought the Sikh and Muslim communities together as they took to the streets to protect their neighbours. Unfortunately three Muslim men were also killed by rioters in a car as they protected their neighbourhood. Their father of one of them has clearly shown the true nature of Islam by making this statement. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZ1VjUSKevc&feature=player_embedded http://audioboo.fm/boos/435734-the-world-at-one-bob-walker-interviews-tariq-jahan-the-father-of-21-year-old-haroon-jahan-one-of-the-men-who-died-in-birmingham When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy.
