Joking aside, thats part of the problem when one relies on single embedded reporting. With a single camera in the crowd its very difficult to tell if you're looking at 50 people of 5000. Now clearly there were shots in which you could see what appeared to be at least a thousand people. However, there is no telling over what dispersion of geography that density of support covers in a city. It was interesting on Sunday night when Alex Crawford drove away from Green Square it soon got very quiet and when she returned the crowd had dispersed and the rebels as she said had 'pulled back'. Theres to much hysteria and media sensation and not enough hard intelligence and critical reporting going on. Don't want to sound like the tin foil hat brigade but a pattern does seem to be emerging. Hugo Chavez started talking about dropping the dollar and using the Euro for oil transactions and was immediately turned upon by the USA and made Banana republic of Evil, (he then drop the idea and disappears from the potential attack radar) Saddam said he'd do the same and within six months he was at war with the West, Gaddafi suggests to the African Union that they drop the dollar and the Euro and use the Gold African Dinar and is attacked by NATO. This despite having yanked the chain of every western Government for 42 years with not much of a response (relatively speaking). I wonder if Assad started talking about using another currency if he too would be attacked? However Syrian rebels seem to think the Libyans got him, personally I would think if they had him we'd have heard about it but having said that I doubt they would admit to his death straight away.
