Libya have we given global Jihad a helping hand?

Mmm... I'd most likely think different if I lived in Libya but to tell you the truth I'd rather the'd spent it on more Police on our streets and education. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca -

I didn't say you did, I was just asking the question. As far as I can ascertain the figure 20K is correct. There are very many sources out there all of whom are agreeing on the figure. So you don't think that unsecured 20,000 MANPADS some of which may easily fall in to Jihadist hands is anything to worry about? Also there are plenty of loons out there who are radicalised and don't belong to a terrorist organisation and may therefore be well off the radar. As barking as Gaddafi was and as big a sponsor of terrorism he has been he was right about one thing. His claims that Islamist Jihadists were among the rebels is undoubtedly true. Anyone who saw pictures of the fall of his compound would have seen masses of people walking away with some pretty sweet weapons systems. At the start of the rebellion Libya contained 20,000 SAM (Surface to Air Missile) systems most of which were MANPADS (can be carried and operated by one man). They are now in the hands of the rebels, each one able to take down not only a military aircraft but also civilian airliners. How long will it be before we see this threat become a reality? We still don't know which way Libya will fall but we do know that the world is a lot less safer than it was at the beginning of this conflict. Think about the scenarios (which are endless) Stick a couple of SAMS in the back of a car, drive it eastwards across a unguarded, unobserved, unmarked border in the desert and you're in Eygpt, through a 200 meter tunnel and you're in Gaza. Take you car south or west and you can be anywhere very quickly. You don't even have to worry about smuggling the systems into the USA or Europe simply get on a boat, head into the Med or the Atlantic and pick a airliner as it flys overhead. So was it worth it? Maybe its to early to tell but what are you prepared to pay for the freedom of the people of Libya? Well, I think I have to stand by what I said about Christians picking and choosing what parts of the Bible they believe in. For example having been to many Church's of most denominations I have regularly heard women talking in Church even though the New Testament is quite clear on the subject. Indeed many a time Vicars and Priests have allowed women to give readings and of course the Protestant Church has gone as far as ordaining women. And the Church allows women to drop the 'Obey' from their marriage vows. And I have met many evangelical Christians who were vegetarians. Do you believe that vegetarianism is evil? (Personally I do and can't get my head around the idea of not fancying a steak but thats another matter) And almost all of the Christians I know love their family But somehow those few that cursed their parents as obnoxious teenagers some how made it to adulthood which is strictly not allowed. And then there are all the Pastorate groups that pray out loud together And so few Christians are heading out to Libya to help Col Gaddafi put down the rebelion even though the New Testament is quite clear on this And I know many rich, in fact a few stinking rich Christians (I left out Luke 16:19-25 as its a bit long. So you see I can honestly say that Christians do pick and chose which bits they believe in the Bible. (Not a judgement call (thats someone elses job) just saying. They banned toy guns at school when I was a kid (at one of the better schools I went to) so we pretended with sticks instead. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

Mayor Bans Tickets to Children for Olympic Shooting Events
Skyrad replied to JohnRich's topic in Speakers Corner
Hes a popularist halfwit what can I say. By his reasoning he should ban tickets to the Fencing as it encourages knife crime The shooting community over here are pretty pissed off over it. Honestly, does anyone really believe such a simplistic view anymore? I doubt that anyone with a brain doesn't think that the local culture is a vital determinate to gun crime. Which I'd put way in front of availability and inextricable linked with it. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Is there any other kind of Christian? In America, many people think they are Christians merely by their birthplace. Their birthplace or the religion that their family follows or used to follow? I know, right? That's what I keep sayin' but I don't think they believe me... Really? You actually sat down with them and they confessed that to you...or are you just talkin' shit? Nope, I have sat down and talked to dozens if not hundreds. For example...Answer this, do you believe in the Ten commandments? Now answer this, do you believe in death for homosexuals? Chances are you would have answered yes to the first and no to the second. Yet both are from the Old testament. Picking and choosing. Then by what definition are they Christians? That doesn't make any sense. But there again I suppose it depends on what part of the Bible you are referring to as all Christians I''ve met pick and chose which parts of the Bible they will believe in. Hopefully after all this is resolved the truth about exactly who is the real Lockerbie bomber will come out and justice can be done. Its possible that its Magrahi but unlikely, even people in Scotland including several of the families now doubt it. In fact theres even much doubt on Libya's involvement at all even though they accepted responsibility to have the sanctions removed. I'd also like to see WPC Yvonne Fletcher's killer captured and brought to justice where ever they are.
