  1. As it stands its ridiculous as its not for long enough and its not compulsory. So the only kids that will do it are the ones who volunteer. The ones who need to be doing it simply won't bother. 4. Roughly 50%. Does that make the USA a Socialist state? Of course not, even though 50% of the people are carried by the rest (makes us 1:10 Brits look positively capitalist) When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. 5. WTF got into everyone here tonight? I just came in from a nice evening out and everyone is tearing everyones else's hair out. Naughty boys and girls! Naughty!!! 6. _________________________________ You are right , I guess we can look to the UK as an example of what not to do. One in ten people in the UK do not work and are supported by the rest. The people who rioted there showed no respect for anything. so much for socialism... A) This isn't a socialist country and we have a Conservative/Lib Government. B) Just what percentage of people in the USA actually pay tax on their income? When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. 7. can't be a racist, like a nazi skinhead or a Holocaust denier. Many argue this isn't a loss, but I prefer a less ambiguous freedom of speech. on religion (from Wiki "Scientology in Germany") "Scientologists in Germany face specific political and economic restrictions. They are barred from membership in major political parties and employers use so-called "sect filters" to expose a job applicant's association with the organization. German federal and state interior ministers started a process aimed at banning Scientology in late 2007, but abandoned the initiative a year later, finding insufficient legal grounds. Despite this, polls suggest that most Germans favour banning Scientology altogether." It may be a wacko cult, but as an atheist I'm highly suspicious when the majority declares a minority religion as a cult, or worse, discriminates against those associated with it. All sounds highly positive to me. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

  10. Winner!!! As a few others have said, the wrath of my parents was far worse than anything a cop could do. Which is what I thought the job of parents was, keep kids in line? That's one of the responsibilities that parents are supposed to keep up with. Back in the 50's, 60's, God help you if you did something you weren't supposed to, you'd get an ass-whipping. Fast forward to the 90's and on, you see kids running amok and their parents protecting them from police or school authorities with the "not my kids mentality". I'm hard on my 2 girls, and so far, they are real good kids.

  14. I have to agree with all of that but really now, I don't know where your head is at. I would have put beautiful women at the top of the list. I almost did but the truth be told there are plenty of beautiful women in the USA as well. 16. Yes, I get guns pulled on me all the time... but I draw just a little bit faster. Plus, we have two oceans, What do you have? water we can drink from the tab? four official languages? the alps? health care? and about a gazillion lakes and rivers you can actually SWIM in.. who the fuck needs an ocean!? Also fantastic chocolate (unlike the crap you get in the USA), real cheese, Banks that don't charge for ATM use, Fresh clean air, Wold famous quality watches, Culture. 17. Hes right about that, we've seen it for many years now, long before the MPs expenses scandal and the bankers financial crash. Without doubt they set a terrible example and those MPs who stole from us should be in jail; but they are not the cause of the riots. 19. I agree. I think because there is no actual dominant culture kids look to the street culture which they make up from the worst aspects of American gang culture and what was once the exclusive domain of Jamacan patois has now been hijacked not only by working class kids of all ethnicity but in many cases middle class kids too. It would be good to see a distinctly modern English culture rise to dominance in this country. One which is inclusive of all but distinctive to which people can relate with, Black, White, Asian everyone who is English. I'd say British but the Scots, Welsh and Northern Irish have strong cultural identities already. 25. After years of speculation it has been confirmed that Bert and Ernie are not gay. No doubt this will come as a relieve to many Conservative fans of the duo. Meanwhile Liberals will no doubt continue to speculate about whether the flatmates are in fact in denial or in the closet. The revelations came after calls for Sesame Street to have them married off in a Gay wedding in New York. http://uk.tv.yahoo.com/news-extra/article/170562/daily-tv-round-upbert-and-ernie-not-gay.html Meanwhile rumours continue to abound about Curious George and the Seven Dwarfs.
