The Beast Is Starved: Welcome to the Next Great Depression
Skyrad replied to dreamdancer's topic in Speakers Corner
I don't think bi-paritsan posts are particularly helpful. Its America's self hatred that has brought it to its knees. People may mock outside in other countries but its going to be painful for them too. Our economies are so intertwined and interdependent that bad news for the US is bad news for all. The empire certainly looks like its torn itself to the verge of destruction I just wonder if it can come back from where it is now. I suspect that we'll all be learning Chinese in the not to distant future, much like school kids in Australia do. We're witnessing the price of bipartisan politics. As I said before, there will be consequences this is just the first. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

'The USA is a global financial parasite that threatens the worlds economy by living way outside its means.' http://uk.news.yahoo.com/putin-says-u-parasite-global-economy-043606659.html Thats according to Vladimir Putin. He is certainly right about one thing though, if the USA did not come to an agreement and had defaulted it would have been very bad news for the rest of the global economy. I think the the US politicians have been so wrapped up in introspective bipartisan point scoring that they've screwed up. The world has has a glimpse of the future, after this I believe that we will see mass diversification away from the dollar and US bonds. They may have agreed a deal but the USA will end up the loser because of their introspective isolationist stanced point scoring. So are you saying that the country is screwed already? It looks like all that is holding the nation up is external belief that the creditors will get their money back. If that slides so does everything else surely? Do you think an accomodation will be reached in time for Tuesday Mike? As a European I've seen several countries screwed over credit rating so I'm not coming from a position of holier than thou. Nor am I either a Democrat or Republican. My question is simply are the Republicans prepared to trash the USA credit rating and default simply to hurt the Dems? From the outside thats the way it looks. It looks like US politics has become so bipartisan that the politicians would rather score points off each other than save the nations economy. Or are the Republicans simply sweating Obama and the Dems? The USA must realise that once it loses its current economic standing there is no coming back its a wet and slippery slide to 2nd rate nation status. "There's a passage I got memorized. Ezekiel 25:17. 'The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men.'" -- Jules FYI: Ezekiel 25:17 King James Version (KJV) 17And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes; and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall lay my vengeance upon them. More likely that people are bored of arguing with people who are just looking for a argument for their entrenched POV. The best way to kill a thread around here is not to throw wood on the fire. You'll find masses of any (and no)s religion tend to keep their mouths shut and nod their heads when they live in a repressive police state where people are 'disappeared'. True and the sooner a return to the Islam of the time of the Prophet the better. Back then Women and men were equal, women's rights were ensured. No man was more equal than another. Its interesting that in the Holiest place in Islam in Mecca Men and Women openly pray together but a mile down the road at the burger king they have to order, pay and eat separately. Unfortunately real change will not be seen while the corrupt dictators of these repressive regimes are supported and propt up by the west. Yup -- they have West Bank and Gaza, and they had more before they decided to wage war on Israel since 1948. When you lose a war, you LOSE; war is not some game where you ask in return what you lost when you willingly risked losing it. Most peoples' existence isn't one that's characterized by facing extinction time and time again throughout history or having to fight for your very existence. Perhaps a bit of empathy would help you understand better. Your empathy sounds very one sided.
