  1. I really wouldn't bother, they will never understand what it is to live in a country that really is free. Much like opening a cage for a bird that has lived its entire life in a cage it will only feel fear and insecurity without a bit of metal for 'protection'. 2. Because he believed the people he killed to be traitors who are letting Islam take over his Christian country, that is why. I would imagine that he did not attack a Mosque because he didn't want to appear racist or place Muslims in a position where they would appear to be the victims. 5. She was mentally ill, and it was that which led to her death. No one wants to be mentally ill any more than anyone wants to have Cancer. Seeing as there is a link between obesity and many types of cancer. Do you have no sympathy for obese people who die of cancer? By your reasoning they brought it on themselves too. 6. Really? I thought it was pretty obvious. Hopefully his trial will be held in camera and rob him of the chance to speak standing on the bodies of the innocent. His trial will most likely not be filmed. I have yet to see a single trial being filmed here in Norway. There are laws restricting it anyhow. Anyway, the police wants his hearing tomorrow to be closed. Personally I would like to see the asshole speak, look at his face, see if there is any form of remorse. Which there probably isn't, and it wouldn't matter anyway. He did say that what he did was "gruesome, but had to be done". No, nothing had to be done. I read his "Templar log" in his manifest yesterday, and I was absolutely appalled. I am so angry with this person, for what he did to all those innocent people and to our country. I am blessed that no one I know (at least that I know of) was harmed by this awful man. My thoughts are with the victims, survivors and their loved ones. A trial held in camera doesn't mean its filmed it means the opposite, in a closed court without media and public, this is also known as in chambers or in curia. I wouldn't even want him to have his words reported from the trial as that is the reason he committed the mass murders in the first place. Its bad enough that his 'manifesto of hate' is all over the internet. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. 7. The killer couldn't find illegal firearms in Norway so travelled to Prague to acquire some, he failed. In his 1500 page document this is what he said... Looks like a gun ban would have saved the lives of a lot of children. 10. Basiclly after reading that right wing nutters blog posts that BILLVON deleted.... you can hear the exact same tripe here in SC weekly. We have hundreds of groups here in the US on the fringe right who have the same ideaology who have the same hatred of anyone who does not goose step to their particular drum beat. 12. Yea, who would want to live in a country considered by most to have the highest standard of living in the world along with one of the lowest crime rates ? That's probably why you run into so many Norwegian immigrants these days. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/country_profiles/1023276.stm So, tell me ...given the high standard of living and low crime rate, what would motivate him to attack government offices and murder school children in Norway? (He does mention in his "writing" that he's a millionaire. Could that be it?) People are always looking for a reason for why these things happen, he was a fucking nut, nothing more and nothing less. they come along from time to time and the ones that tend to run up the higher counts seem to have easier access to weapons. I can't recall such a high toll ever in a European country. ( outside of being committed by people in nice brown shirts with shiny boots) If he were alone in his ideology I might be inclined to agree with you but he isn't. 15. Information Communication Technology. short article on the UK's current problem with the science brain drain. It will only get worse when Universities are allowed to charge up to £9K a year starting in Sept 2011. http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2010/sep/30/science-research-spending-cuts Right, I'd better get back to my Thesis When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. 16. And much of that cultural attitude is maintained because the well-educated simply leave (or stay away). If more would remain, the attitude would evolve at a greater rate. It's not just restricted to the Arab world or the Third World. The attitudes prevailing in much of the poor, under-educated population of rural Appalachia in the US are similarly stagnated for similar reasons. Indeed in the UK we have seen the same problem, science in the Uk is poorly paid so a lot of scientists head over to the USA as the money is better and thats where the money for research is. The net result is that it is becoming harder to attract youngsters in the UK into science. Ironically we are now seeing high end ICT scientists disappearing to the UAE for much the same reasons. 17. No I didn't miss the point, I'm just saying that its a simplistic argument by the author. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  18. Its an interesting question but the article is flawed because it also misses fundamental trans-national changes. Modern travel and working practices. Gone are the days when a scientist had to work in the country he was born in and grew up in. These days outside of the USA in particular people travel often and migrate to work in countries other than their own. Western developed nations often pay more than developing ones. When you add the fact that the language of science is English and cheap transport the result is something of a brain drain from Arab countries towards the west. In the UK and in the USA and many other western countries there are thousands if not hundreds of thousands of Muslim & Arab scientists working in cutting edge science, medicine and ICT (There are 5 million Muslims in the UK alone). The days of a scientist working alone on the light bulb etc are finished. These days advances in science are masses of tiny incremental gains usually collaborative in nature. Often that collaboration is trans-national in nature. Also leading scientific innovative companies are rarely owned by the nation in which they're based. This means that US and UK companies may be getting the benefit and glory for work done by scientists in the UAE. It also means that companies based in Europe and the USA may well be owned or funded by Arabs or Arab nations. Not such a clear cut picture in real life as they paint in the article. 21. They were making the claim before anyone claiming to be a Islamist organization placed anything on the website. I'm pointing out the irony of the fact that he is now turns out to be a conservative Christian. Having said that, this is no more the work of a true Christian than the murderers on 9/11 were true followers of Islam. 22. The man captured is called Anders Behring Breivik, a Oslo police spokesman has described him a posting on right wing Christian websites. Other reports are also saying that he is a Conservative Christian who is strongly opposed to Multiculturalism.... Hmmm...Oh look Tumbleweed. 23. They do now they've caught him but all the news channels were crawling with so called experts explaining why Islamist terrorists would carried out the attack. Even the British PM said we would hunt down the terrorists responsible, clearly thinking the same. We've news organisations now that don't report the news so much as spoon feed their opinions and try and make the facts fit their political agenda. As for the people they will believe whatever they're told very often without thinking. 24. With the moving touchdown of the shuttle today it makes me wonder is the end not only of the USA's space programme but also of wider US hegemony? 25. This man and his actions show how real Muslims behave. Not the wacko psychotic terrorists. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOCy0vcuU1o&feature=player_embedded http://uk.news.yahoo.com/video/skyworld-25537618/texan-executed-for-9-11-revenge-killings-25999569.html You never hear anything good about Muslims? Well there you go. No doubt some haters will now post links to beheading videos etc but those who do have simply missed the point. However as so many feel the desperate need to have hate in their lives I guess its inevitable.
