Palin’s Prediction Of ‘Death Panels’ Was Accurate
Skyrad replied to RonD1120's topic in Speakers Corner
Nonsense. I am a Clinician and have worked in hospitals for the last 16 years across three countries. There are plenty of times where there are a option of treatments against which the prime differentiator is not how well the drugs work but how much they cost, which is dictated by R&D, marketing and end user buy in. Just because healthcare costs are controlled does not mean that it automatically leads to a negative impact on patient outcomes. John it seems that you are rather anti gun ownership (just my impression, I could be wrong). Now you're British (at least you came from over here right?) well I don't understand why if you had such a issue with guns why you'd want to move to America.. I mean, thats like the guy who buys a house next to an airport and then complains about the noise and tries to get it shut down. Hey now that's not fair. History records that Bush and Cheney each served with valor in Vietnam, and both of Bush's daughters served in Iraq. And we don't let fucking movie stars sign acts of Congress or state legislatures into law. Just former movie stars. Cracking list mate. Point five is a great one, can you imaging Obama going and fighting in Helmand Province/ In fact its a bloody brilliant idea, Congress should pass a law that states that the POTUS & VP must serve on the front line in any war that America is involved with for at least two tours of duty. That should make the world a more peaceful place! When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

That's why I phrased my post the way I did. Perception is reality. I just don't understand why more Brits who scrimp and struggle just to get by from one paycheck to the next aren't galled by the extravagant lifestyles those people live, on the public tab, mainly due only to accident of birth or fortuitousness of marriage. I'll give it a shot, I suspect its a combination of factors Andy, the vast majority of Brits see the benefit that the Royal family bring to them (see the post from Rifleman and myself above). Also the number of Royals who are on the What used to be called the Civil List (getting paid by us is far smaller than you think) Price Charles and the Queen are successful business owners in their own right and employ a lot of people in some pretty job starved areas. They use the profits of the businesses to pay their way often and Charles has a big organic produce company which is very popular as it make pretty nice food. People also see him that its not a one way street when it comes to investing in the Royals, The Princess Trust does a fantastic job of helping young people who are out of work and from deprived backgrounds in starting businesses, training, mentoring etc.. He is also not just a figure head but gets actively involved. I could give several examples for other members of the Royal Family. Charles also uses the money from his businesses to support William & Harry too. The Civil list was replaced in 2012 by the Sovereign Grant which is a streamlined system where fewer Royals receive any money. Culturally I suspect that more Brits don't get upset by the Royal Family's lifestyle because of the value they bring. The Brits do get pissed off en mass about the extravagant lifestyles of the parasitic bankers however as they can see the lack of benefit that they bring to the country and fat cat businessmen who receive bonuses of millions despite running banks and businesses into the ground and laying of thousands of people. Or tosspot politicians of all shades who screw over the country in a vast number of ways while fiddling their expenses and stealing from us while living in a mansion somewhere. The Brits do get pissed off about parasites who are living the high life at our expense but giving nothing back, the thing is the Royal Family doesn't fall into that category and thats why more Brits aren't pissed off but the reverse, delighted with the Royal Family. But, but, what about our congress critters? JerryBaumchen Good, freaking question! That may be, but it fails to answer MY question. The actual cost of the monarchy to the UK public is 69p per person p.a. (total £ 35.1m). Profits from the Royal Estate, which are handed to the treasury totalled £ 226.5m while the estimated income from royalty tourism comes to £ 620m giving a return on investment of 2311.7%. And that my friend is a good return on an investment! On top of that though there are the more difficult to measure benefits of having a Royal Family, the feel good factor that they bring to our Nations (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and lets not forget the millions of people in the Commonwealth Nations). On the Queen's 70th birthday I was celebrating in London and the feeling was epic, millions of people overwhelmingly happy and the sight of the one woman who as been a constant in our lives so clearly moved by the out pouring of good will towards her was a feeling of real connection and affection. Then last year when she took part in the Olympic opening ceremony in the film and then let someone jump in dressed as her was fantastic and showed off her great sense of humour. That feel good factor lasted for weeks and is something no amount of money can buy and something that no sleazy self serving politician could ever hope to create. In London the water we drink has been biologically filtered through the nephrons of six other people before we drink it. Tastes fine to me and we've been doing it for decades. On taste tests you can tell it from mineral water. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

So Dave the UK PM, (Like the POTUS but not as big, important or tanned) is gonig to ban Porn form the internet in the UK (Yea, good luck with that). http://uk.news.yahoo.com/cameron-one-click-protection-against-porn-045609534.html From October users will have to opt in to see porn (supposedly). Would this be consitutional in the USA? Could BHO do the same? When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Is it possible for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev to get a fair trail in the USA?
Skyrad replied to Skyrad's topic in Speakers Corner
I fixed it. I have serious doubts whether there can be a fair trial when the feds are involved. Fundamental rights and fairness have already been erased, as evidenced by a federal magistrate going to the hospital room to tell him his rights in the midst of his interrogation with denial of counsel, etc. The government has already done its best to tilt the balance. Now it's up to the Defense to find out everything that Tsarnaev said before he received his rights (good luck with that) and take steps to throw it all out but will invariably be unable to learn everything, which the Prosecution will put out there without an opportunity for defense. Yes. I'm still pissed off. And those are some of the differences in the London situation verses the Boston one, this would not be allowed in an English court, which is why I posted the original question. Skyrad replied to Skyrad's topic in Speakers Corner
Come on Rob... I'm simply wondering with the recent highly publicized decapitation of a soldier in the UK by muslim terrorist-types why he has to ask if the boston bomber can get a fair trial. what's the difference with the uk situation?> Well put like that its a fair question, the main difference is that the entire crime in London was witnesses by crowds of people who saw the criminals murder the victim and filmed it. The suspects then waited until the Police came and were shot while charging down the Police while caring bloody weapons and trying to shoot the Police. There is no doubt whatsoever about their guilt.... Having said that they are still innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and so its a fair question, will they get a fair trial. I believe they will but due to the overwhelming amount of evidence I doubt that there is any chance of them being found innocent. With Dzhokhar Tsarnaev the evidence seems to be secondary to the belief that he is guilty, even during the early stages of the search for the bomber he and his brother were named as the bombers. I don't doubt that the FBI will have hard evidence against him by the trial but in both the London case and the Boston case one has to question the role of the media in jury trials in the information age. Another reason I'm interested in the Boston case is that I know how the justice system in England works and also that the system in the USA is very different, there are things you can say and do in the USA in court that are not permitted in the English courts. Rollings Stone Set To Put Tsarnaev On The Cover

Darling of the left? Bit of a stretch isn't it Rick? Darling of 13 year old angry goth & indy girls maybe. Thats the only reason he is on the front cover, because teenage girls think he's hot and will buy the mag. At least those "liberal" /misguided 13 year old "women" won't be old enough to vote for hillary. To be fair I doubt that many 13 yo girls are either liberal or republicans. Are you serious? Those poor girls were no doubt subjected to liberal brainwashing the day they hopped out of a liberal womb. No doubt they were subjected to 24 hrs a day FDR New Deal news reels and every speech Jesse Jackson, Hillary Clinton, or George Soros ever made. Their first baby shirt no doubt had a picture of Che Guevara on the front and Raul Castro on the back. By the time they reached the age of five, they could recite everything written by Karl Marx. Do no underestimate these liberals. Pretty funny stuff right there When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. With all the media attention surrounding the case from the moment of the crime to the killing of his brother and finally the arrest of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, is it possible for him to receive a fair trial in the USA given the near total belief that he did it? So you think he is hot??? Listen YOU!!!!! how dare you say he is hot don’t you know what he did?? This POS should only be shown with horns and warts all over his face. HOW DARE YOU TRY TO SAY A GOD DAMN TERORIST IS Pretty? I am so disappointed in you SIR. He is Evil cut and dry he was born evil. Simple as that. You cannot dispute the fact that editors of Rolling Stone put a "pretty boy on the cover". Look up Pretty Boy Floyd. Some gangsters and terrorists dress themselves up to look "pretty" while being "evil cut and dry and born evil". LOL... This thread is getting weirder by the minute. Maybe that post would mean something to me if I were an American, but I honestly have not got a scooby what the hell you're trying to say. Some bird put on a head scarf? And?? She never put her hand on her heart? So what maybe she took a indigestion tab before lunch and didn't need to. What is with your obsesion with headscarfs??? Who cares how many there were? Did you count how many men were wearing syrups as well? Weird. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy.
