  1. who says the chute had to be in the ground for years? could of been there a short time before it was found? "It is surprising how aggressive people get, once they latch onto their suspect and say, 'Hey, he's our guy.' No matter what you tell them, they refuse to believe you" Agent Carr FBI

  4. working on a lathe wearing a tie is not a good thing, even a clip on would be dangerous around rolling machines. I would put him in a supervisor position with wearing a tie in a manufacturing plant Others, including myself, have made the same suggestion. Nevertheless, Tom Kaye has pictures of lathe and other such machine operators wearing fully knotted ties (not clip-ons). Robert99 hopefully they were wearing a shop apron? I did find one....... This interfaces with OSHA rules which came in at different times for different shops. Some shops grandfathered in! Ties permitted. Some agriculture shops excluded which lead to a whole new visitation of research and work safety, much of that conducted in places like Iowa State ... It could even be a tie Cooper picked up from someone somewhere ... the smoking particles seem to fit Cooper? As to brand? What matters is families of particles as Smokin99 alluded to ... understood, much like seeking out the tie clip, I'm not really sure if anything is there to be investigated, if he quickly gathered his clothing for the crime, we might end up chasing the wrong guy. I guess the same could go for the DNA? "It is surprising how aggressive people get, once they latch onto their suspect and say, 'Hey, he's our guy.' 7. Unless it is eventually found, it will probably never be known with absolute certainty what the rip cord arrangement was on the back parachute Cooper took with him. But based on the information in all of Georger's recent posts and reposts of other people, it should be apparent that Cossey had made some kind of modification to the rip cord arrangement on the missing back pack. On Hayden's parachute that he got back, it should be noted that after its repacking on May 21, 1971 by Cossey, it was already far out of date by the time of the hijacking. If I remember correctly, its next repacking date (listed on the card in Bruce's picture) was more than 10 years later. That is NOT taking good care of your equipment. Does anyone know if Hayden was flying in 1971 or owned an aircraft then? If so, where did he keep his aircraft? Robert99 The FBI had the chute until 1982, I think Hayden just wanted it back and probably never intended to use it or sell it. Quote from The Mountain News............... "the chute was re-packed twice – in 1982 and 1984 – after its return from the FBI, according to Norman. " actually the card shows 1986 not 1984...... 8. It seems very clear you are attempting to gain notoriety, similar to the attempt you tried on the Komo news site. the comment there was very little about Cossey, and a lot about Blevins. now you demand answers to a murder that took place just several days ago, but once again this was not your motive, very little is said about your anger over no updates and felt compelled to give all sorts of information in hopes that they take the bait in order for you to become the "go to guy" on Cossey. what are you more upset with, very little news about involvement of a person in a 40+ year old crime, or no attention given to your first attempt to gain notoriety in this? not just DZ asking about your motives....... "Hopefully you are not using this news report on this poor man's death to promote your book." shameful IMO "It is surprising how aggressive people get, once they latch onto their suspect and say, 'Hey, he's our guy.' 10. ____________________________________________ So, is it a dummy chute or not? I thought dummy chute meant training chute, stuffed with foam -- not useable. If it had a canopy, then wouldn't that make it a legit, useable chute? So, what is it? This double talk gets so confusing. I wished the experts (in parachutes and skydiving) would jump in (no pun intended) more often and clarify when we're wrong and when we're not. MeyerLouie his post a year ago claimed that Coopers boots were in the chute with the X on it. 2 or 3 weeks ago the chute had 3 X's on it..... another post he claims it might of been in another chute????? on and on and ooooooooooooooon.... 11. this page falls under educational, research and criticism. the fair use clause on pictures would fit this category the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright. In determining whether the use made of a work in any particular case is a fair use the factors to be considered shall include—the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes; I used a similar clause when the DMCA took a video down of mine on You Tube several years ago. I took 4 seconds of someones audio that he reversed and explained how he did it. this fell under the criticism clause. ******** I do mind. That said, I allow - and support - tha fair use doctrine, as elucidated above. I must add, however, that I always expect my work to be accredited. That means my name and where the work was obtained, such as the Mountain News, be posted. I did credit the picture of Hayden from the Mountain news I take it from the way they are searching they don't have a murder weapon? 15. Fixed. What do you mean by 'where is Hayden's other chute?' I think it went out the door with Cooper... You guys are making this more complicated than it really is. Read the PDF excerpt. Hayden gives extensive details on both chutes, gets one back from the FBI later. Neither belonged to Cossey. He was just the person who packed them. The evidence is nearly overwhelming on this point. Hayden claims ownership forty years ago, via the PDF. He does the same thing in the Bruce Smith interview. The FBI and the courts agree, returning the second chute to Hayden later. What more do you need? agreed, until I remembered what Robert99 was saying about Cossey modifying the chute. that's the only proof we don't have, other than Cossey's word..... 17. Georger, You are correct. I do remember previous discussions on the thread about this. As a certified parachute rigger, Cossey could easily and legally modify his personal emergency parachute to a left hand pull. That is, the rip cord would be mounted on the harness on the right side of the wearer's body and pulled by his left hand. I have also seen pictures of some early skydivers that had rip cords for their back packs mounted on the harness on the right side and then pulled off to the right by their right hand. This feature was supposedly to help them maintain stability during pulls. As 377 remarks elsewhere this morning, the Sky Diving Community, as a Sovereign Nation, seems to do whatever it damn well pleases and doesn't consider itself obligated to follow other people's rules. Robert99 Is this assuming that Hayden is now out of the equation with the back packs? lefty model http://www.awm.gov.au/collection/REL31363/ Hayden rip cord is on the left for a right handed pull (see photo from The Mountain News) I don't think so, at least not if you read news stories today. Every new news story today is emphasizing that Cossey "packed the chutes used in the Cooper hijacking" vrs "supplied the chutes". I have no idea why this slant has surfaced, to become dominant? It's obviously based on something or someone, but the distinction seems to be being universally made. One article even says: "Cossey packed the chutes and had sold them to the Issaquah skydiving school who supplied them for the Cooper hijacking". Maybe we will learn more today. understood, but, we have an FBI Agent saying one was given back...correct. Hayden claims the chute in the picture was the one left behind that was given back to him thru a law suit...correct. we have documents showing two chute were Haydens and one shows evidence of Cossey packing it. we can see that two cards were signed by Cossey, one on Haydens chute, the other is the front pack in the FBI's evidence room. this could show that Cossey did in fact pack all of the chutes and could be the owner of the front chutes. leaving the two back chutes to Hayden, Cooper took one of Hayden's and one of Cossey's...... possible, maybe, could be???? after reading Robert99's comment while posting this, my theory is incorrect.... BUT, where is Hayden's other chute..................................... "It is surprising how aggressive people get, once they latch onto their suspect and say, 'Hey, he's our guy.' 21. Computers are not the problem Jo, old school bookkeeping has it's fair share of error's, books of knowledge have a fair share of error's in them. error's were being made since the beginning of mankind. nothing is perfect in this world. we get misinformation from the weather, news broadcasts, newspapers etc. we are all here to find some truth in all of this, resisting or not being able to access things don't help the cause much either..... Nice find! very possible that Carr seen all of this confusion and said, that's it, I'm calling Cossey right now and put an end to this. wonder how the Beetles got mixed up in this had to say it....... 24. I noticed everyone claiming "someone" packed all 4 chutes? there was on 3 chutes that were functional, where did the 4th packed chute go? or did the dummy get in the mix up when delivering them? Ckret also claims that the dummy chute had a white canopy in it, I thought they were filled with foam among other things. could the chute have been a working chute, and someone wrote dummy chute on it? just a thought...... 25. Ckret also mentions one chute being given back, this could give merit to the Hayden claim....... I think it's on the locked thread, just seen it the other day. Ckret Jan 1, 2008 "Yes we have the serial numbers and interviewd the rigger. One chute was returned to it's owner, two were never found and one is in evidence."
