Okay, then, a hypothetical scenario: Tomorrow morning, we are all treated to a post by Viking in which he tells us about the woman who, just the night before, knocked on his door wearing nothing but pasties. However, Viking decides that this woman is too big or unemployed for him, so he turns down her advances. Can I then assume that everybody here would be supportive of Viking for sticking to his criteria in what he likes in a woman? Or does everybody ride his ass about it?

Well, let's be fair. Men do this all the time, too.

Well, here's the thing. You'd need to get the tattoo done in such a way that as the penis becomes erect, the logo animates in some way. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

Here's a combination Learn-from-this-guy's-mistake/Things-could-be-worse story: No shit, there he was: a colleague in my department who is 29 years old. A while back, he became interested in my girlfriend (before she was my girlfriend). At one point, she needed to go to the hospital. He was there every day she was there for hours on end and refused to go home. First, this drove her crazy, then it freaked her out. Finally, she was released. One day the next week, he showed up at her door and said, "I want to share something with you that I've never with anyone before." Then, he tried to kiss her, got too excited, and had a little accident. I wasn't there to see her reaction, but I think the word she used to descibe it was, "Icky." This is not a happy word. Shoot me if ever do anything that can be described as "Icky." A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

Even better...free packjobs for sex. Here's what you do: find an old cardboard box, cut a piece about 6"x12". Find different colored markers and write "Will Pack For Sex." Then, feel free to add pictures. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

Out of curiosity, I just poked my head over on E-Bay to see what kind of gear people are selling, and was absolutely amazed at how little people were selling for (even when the reserve has been met)! I've always known if it sounds to good to be true, but I just don't understand why this stuff is so cheap! Any ideas? A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

Thanks for the tip, Dave. The resolution AND the zoom is much better with Terraserver. Here's Napoleon Skydiving Center. Note the grass runways ... great for butt-flops! (edited ... jpg didn't show up right) A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

I think it was longer than that ... maybe ten seconds. I stopped waiting for the horizon to level out after that point and started my COAs. Phreezone may have been right. I've been sitting here tilting my head...it's amazing the how good our eyes are at adjusting for head tilt on the ground. Not so 13K feet up, eh? A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

I wish I had thought to ask my JMs this after my jump. Maybe you guys can clue me in on this. When I left the plane for my level II, I let a lot of time pass before I began my COAs. This was because I didn't think that I was falling stable. I mentioned this to my JMs during the debriefing, but they said they didn't notice any instability - they thought I was falling just fine. I felt unstable because when I was getting my heading, the horizon looked like it was slanting by 5 to 10 degrees left to right. Is this a common occurence? What could cause this if, as the JMs said, there was no problem with the way I was falling? A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

Only except that a skydiver puts WAY more faith in his or her equipment than a skier needs to. Funny you should mention getting sleep at night. I found myself wide awake last night thinking of all of the different sort of malfunctions that could happen. The scariest thought for me was getting a pilot chute in tow on your reserve. What do you do then? This probably goes right up there with a post on Talk Back about how it's not until after a couple of jumps that people start to get freaked out! We flipped over on my first AFF jump, too. I guess one jumpmaster overestimated my weight when he exited and ended up going underneath myself and the other jumpmaster. Next thing I know, I'm looking at the sky. It's really neat to watch on my video, as the other jumpmaster let go, we right ourselves, then he flies back and grabs on. Probably everyday relative work skills for some, pretty impressive as far as I'm concerned. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

Come on! After at least a couple thousand dollars until one gets their A license, then another 2 or 3 thousand for a rig, and $550 is a lot of money? A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

Actually, $550 does not sound like that much money to me at all for commercially licensed software. I've seen small-market business software run in the thousands. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

Could be. As I said in my first post, nobody can ever truly understand what's going on with another person because a person is shaped by his or her own experiences. My reaction to the post was that somebody was feeling isolated and needed reassurance that he is not alone. You heard something else. No doubt if you or I were to post a message like that here, we would each be trying to communicate different metamessages. Anyway, I'd like to hear from Jason again, because this thread is getting longer and longer, but he hasn't posted since his first one. How are you doing, Jason? Quade, I agree with you here. It may or may not be that the military is right for Jason. If it is, I certainly wouldn't argue against him joining. I hope that he does find the right path for himself. The only thing I wonder is if he was asking for people's advice with his post or if he just needed to vent. His final sentence: *** Thanks for listening, I just needed to get that out into the open. Geez, talk about kicking people while they're down. Aren't people allowed to have rough times once in a while, no matter how old they are? No solution works for everyone. If Jason isn't a military type (God knows I'd make a rotten soldier), then the fact that you guys know what you would do if you were his age is really no help to him. Hell, even if he is a military type, that would be no help to him. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

Jason, While it's true that nobody ever knows what anyone else is going through (after all, a person is shaped by their own experiences), I hear your anxiety. If there is one thing that frustrates me about the human condition, it's that we are always expected to choke down our emotions and pretend that everything's okay, even if it's not. Sometimes I wish that social customs would allow us to be human ... to make mistakes or be upset every once in a while, rather than asking us to be emotionless automatons. From my own experience, it's always the times that I'm most down that I do not feel worthy to talk about my problems with my friends. Anyway, it may be a big world out there, but you're not the only one whose afraid. Take care of yourself ... time will clarify things for you, and regardless of what happens, you'll be OK.

No, that didn't help. I can use the buttons in the toolbar, though, so I'm not concerned about it. It's only when I click on the Quote link in somebody's post that my response doesn't show up. Again, it seems to be the large font size that appears in the textbox as I'm typing that clues me in that it won't show up when I preview the post. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
