  1. Well, there may be some merit to that. I mean, until I looked at that calendar, I was planning on being cremated! Not anymore! A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
  2. Hey, congrats, Michele!! I dragged myself away from my reading (which I'm already behind on) to make sure I caught your spot. I think they should have cut the shark-fishing bit, though, and lengthened yours. I think he deserved to have his finger cut off after whacking the shark on the head like that!
  3. I remember that, after about two seconds, I didn't feel like I was falling at all. Then, when I was getting ready to pull, I noticed the clouds go zipping by me. That's when I was reminded how fast I was falling! Hey, when did the new "Novice" title come out? A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

  6. I am a very low time jumper who likes to play things very conservatively. I weigh about 135 pounds, have six jumps (not yet out of AFF, but will be soon), and am considering a Triathlon 190. Would this .84 wing loading still give me plenty of room to have fun while gaining experience under canopy? A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

  11. Rev Jim, Thanks for bringing this up again. It is very meaningful for me to be able to think back and reflect on the confusion, fear, and anger that I felt a year ago. Be well, all. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
  12. How about this: freefall is not a ride, but being under canopy is. We even call it the "canopy ride." A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
  13. Actually, you were responding to my response to Bill, and not taking into account the context of what I was saying. Therefore, I paraphrased Bill's previous post to get you on track to the conversation. I stand by what I said. If Bill can condone the intentional slaughtering of every last Afghan, then he has no cause to object when al Queda does the same thing to America. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
  14. Rhino, Bill wasn't talking about innocents killed in the course of war, he was talking about eradicating every single Afghani citizen to retaliate for 9/11. I believe the current phrase for that is "ethnic cleansing." See the following, and his earlier posts in this thread. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
  15. Exactly. If Bill is willing to condone the murder of innocent citizens in Afghanistan, then he has no right to be upset when innocent Americans get killed. Whether there is a question of morality or not, it is a simple matter of consistency. Either our nation and any other nation has the right to kill innocent people in combatting one another, or neither one does. There can be no in between. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
  16. Phree, Have you read Stranger in a Strange Land? It's interesting because the turning point for the main character (a human who was raised by martians, and then brought back to Earth), when he really becomes human, is when he discovers why things are funny, which is basically what you said, too. 17. Gee, Bill, I can't help but notice your assumption that all priests are adulterers... Kidding! Kidding! A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
  18. Did I argue that it solved anything? I was just objecting to your statement that only Muslims commit suicide in the name of God. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
  19. I refer you to your original post: If you do not care about the moral reasons to bomb or not bomb a country, then why do you talk about "wretched people" doing "bad things?" I used the term "wretched" specifically because I am interested in morality. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
  20. What about suicide cults in the United States? Remember Jonestown? Remember Waco? A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
  21. That's a rather broad generalization. If jews and christians do not kill themselves, why are there so many suicide crisis centers in the United States? For the Arab Americans? A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
  22. You tell me what we're talking about, as you raised the objection. What I'm hearing you say is that if the leadership of a nation does something that you do not agree with, we should exterminate every last citizen of that nation. And Lummy makes a great point: You are suggesting that if people band together as a nation and do something wretched, we should go and obliterate them. Isn't this exactly what al Queda did on 9/11? They saw a group of people band together as a nation doing things that they considered wretched, and undertook to obliterate them. Your logic here does not hold al Queda accountable for 9/11, your logic actually justifies 9/11. Therefore, my point stands: no person and no society is inherently better than any other. 23. Perhaps I am being mislead by your wording, but do I understand then that, being part of the nation of Afghanistan, every single Afghani should be exterminated to make an example of the organization that exploited them? We should even exterminate the Afghani women who were forced by this organization to cover their bodies in public under penalty of beating? A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
