You know what really sucked about that? I didn't realize this, but when you do a hop and pop, everyone on the plane can see you deploy, not just whoever is closing the door. So I got back down on the ground and heard tons of shit about it, including one of the tandem students (TANDEM STUDENTS) who said, "Hey, nice line twists, man." Kids today... Michele, You'll have to forgive my wild imagination, but I am a skydiver: I couldn't help but notice that you listed 1 hump for the weekend, then wrote about spending time with Dad... A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

Wow, I had so much fun today. I got to make my pre-second solo jump, which I did with a diving exit which was so stable! I played around for a bit doing backloops and frontloops and turns, pulled at 4K. I had trouble reading the wind on the ground and ended up landing crosswind . However, I did land within 20 meters of the target! I also made my pre-second and second hop and pops. I did one at 5500 with another beautifully stable exit(my God the air is COLD up there! I thought my fingers were going to be frostbitten. The landing was sweet! I stood it! I did a second at 3500, and, well, let's just say that that exit was not my shining moment... I began to lost stability and backflipped. By the time the rig deployed, I was on my back and had to quickly keep backflipping, through the risers, until I was forward again... I'm lucky that nothing worse than line twists came of that... Then, my landing was really not much better than the exit. I misread the winds and landed on crosswind again... Got dragged on my back for a bit, but I'm ok. I got the following things signed off on my A-license card today: >1 landing within 20 meters of target >Rear riser turns with brakes set and released >2 jumps with maximum-performance 90 degree turns in one direction followed by a turn of 180 in the other. (Anybody know what this requirement is for? My instructors all think it's a bit arbitrary.) >front riser dives and turns >accurately predict presence and effects of turbulence >using an aviation winds aloft forecast, select the correct exit and opening points >brief jump pilot and spot unassisted. I'll say I had a damn good day! And for less money than even the cheaper AFF dives! A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

BEAUTIFUL DAY!!!! The vibes worked, I guess. I'll even thank you, happythoughts, for surely your ball-busting helped chase those clouds away!

My solution to this was a compromise: Both parties shall put not just the seat down, but the lid as well. At first the whole thing annoyed me, and then I realized that instead of arguing, we could be having sex right then... Changed my whole outlook on the situation. Hiya Airhead, I know that I mentioned this in talk back, but the instructors at Napoleon are great people. However, two of the four are migrating to GA on Monday, so there will only be two left. At the same time, there will be a lot fewer students given the cold weather. Ron and Brenda will still be around through November, and I like both of them. I know it's not the same situation as yours, but I did my first jump at a different DZ, and my levels II-VII at Napoleon, and they gave me a full refresher free of charge and let me do my level II immediately. Given the difference in difficulty between level II and VI I can't promise they'll do the same, but it's worth a call! If you decide to go there, let me know! I actually looked into this once. The law states that the telemarketer must call you TWO TIMES in the span of a year AFTER you request to be placed on the do-not-call list to be in violation of the FCC rules on this. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

You know something? After all of those (how should I put this?)flaky poll posts, this question would actually make good use of the poll feature, but alas... Student loan here. Still waiting for the escrow service to cash my check so I can even look at the damn thing... A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

Actually, I do intend to check out Tecumseh once I'm fully A'd. I don't think that I'm ready to switch DZs while I'm still being trained. (Although I may need the services of a rigger over there. I've been waiting for a week now for the escrow service to cash my check so that the rig I'm looking at can be shipped. My rigger is leaving for GA on Monday, so it's not looking like he's going to get a chance to see it.) A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

NOOOOOOOOOO!!! It's raining!!!!!!!!! Go away!!!!!! It's been three weeks since my last jump, which was level VII. I have yet to do my solo and I'm getting quite antsy... A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

Airhead, I actually jump at Napoleon, and I haven't been to Tecumseh. Tecumseh only offers static line and Napoleon only offers AFF (well, they offer IAD, too, but nobody ever does it). I like Napoleon a lot. Cool people, mellow atmosphere... A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

Great... If that's your idea of a vibe then there will be NO jumping for me at all A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

Well, it's not looking too bad outside, but the weather forecasts are not looking so good this weekend. How about we send some vibes to the heavens to chase these clouds away! A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
