Just like that article on howstuffworks.com about skydiving that somebody linked to from here. One of the frequently asked questions there was about how safe is skydiving. They made the point that lots of people die every day from car accidents, and under 50 die from skydiving each year. Since you can publisize the skydiving deaths, they show up in the news. Since there are too many auto-related deaths, they don't. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

Touche, but at the risk of making an ass out of u and me, I'll assume that you're being at least partly facetious here. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

Agreed. Lately, I have been understanding humanity like this: the potential for the greatest good and the greatest evil exist in every single one of us. What one person can do, so can all others. Therefore, no person is inherently more good or more evil than anyone else. Likewise with different races. There are wonderful people in each and there are wretched people in each. Sometimes it just becomes too easy to focus on the bad. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

:2:2 First repeated AFF level, First time camping at the DZ (how do you fuckers do it?!? People partying like I haven't partied since 1998 until 3 in the morning, and still able to get up for an 8:45 load?!?) A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

Did any of the news stories about this case specifically use the word "terrorist?" I have been waiting very patiently for a year now to hear the word "terrorist" applied to a person of any other race than arab. So far, I haven't noticed any. In fact, I've noticed exactly the opposite: that the word "terrorist" is specifically not used in reference to anyone other than Arabs. I find that frustrating and racist, because you had better believe that Arabs are not the only people among whom terrorists dwell. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

Andyman makes a great point - I don't need to rehash it. I also want to point out that nowhere in the original post did skymama call the captors "terrorists." How do we know that we do not have some sort of bank robbery here, for example? There are scenarios involving hostages other than what most people would refer to as "terrorist" scenarios. Let us not forget what happens when we assume... A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

Hmm... In her original post, skymama gave absolutely no description of any of the people in this scenario. I can't help but wonder why you assumed that the captors here are Muslim. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

I know, I know ... and when I am reminded in freefall to relax it works wonders. The problem is that I'm a very tense person by nature. I'm usually not all that relaxed on the ground, let alone in freefall! A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

I completed level V yesterday. It took me two jumps to do, but I did it. I was having problems with the forward motion. On my first attempt, instead of going forward, I ended up turning. At that point, I tensed up, flattened out, and never regained stability. I bailed at 6200. The next time I went up, I was still having trouble with it, but eventually was able to redock with the Jumpmaster. Since my 360's were great on the first go around, he passed me. On to level VI! Also, I was cleared from radio yesterday as well. I'm starting to get the hang of landing, which is great. Although I was really really annoyed to watch a level I jumper land on tiptoes!! Also, my girlfriend made her first tandem. She was planning on jumping right into AFF, but about an hour into the ground school, she decided to do a tandem first. Unfortunately, she didn't like her Tandemmaster, which is too bad because she had really gotten to know and like some of the other ones when she came to hang out with me in the past. Finally, Ali and I spent the night, which was the beer time that I had stayed for the apres-dive festivities. I was just a little bit woozy when I woke up this morning, you can probably imagine... Yeah...looking at those results I'd have to say you've got it pretty much in the bag. 73% with second place at 14%. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

Whenever I read the forum posts from my girlfriend's Mac, the forum marks all of the posts as read after I log out, even if I didn't actually read each post. When I logout of the forums from other computers, it marks the read messages correctly. Is there something I need to adjust on the Mac to make this work? I'm something of a PC guy, so I don't know my way around Macs too well. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

My favorite variation is the one from Ranier Wolfcastle's first acting job as a kid: Mein bratwurst has a first name, it's F-R-I-T-Z. Mein bratwurst has a second name, it's S-C-H-N-A-C-K-E-N-P-F-E-F-F-E-R-H-A-U-S-E-N... Thanks http://www.snpp.com!! A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

No jumps for me this weekend, either. All of the instructors have decided that going to Couchfreaks would be more fun than teaching me how to skydive... I just don't get how some peoples' minds operate... A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

I can't tell you how disappointed I was when they discontinued the tan colored ones. Those were hands down my favorites. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

I'm in Michigan but I jump at Napoleon Skydiving Center. Tecumseh offers no AFF training, so... I never went there to find out how it is, though. Napoleon is only a bit further from Ann Arbor than Tecumseh. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

Kind of a funny story, actually. Recently I had to get a test done at the hospital. While I was registering with them, the woman asked me what my religion was. I responded "Ali." She asked me if that was a form of Islam or something. I said, "No. Ali is my girlfriend (who was standing next to me at the time). Her body is a temple, and that is where I choose to worship. Question: can't a dropzone simply refuse to do business with someone? I understand that the woman in question would probably still sue for discrimination, but it seems like there could be a way for the dz to simply say we do not want your business without making deafness an issue. For example, an airline pilot has the legal right to refuse passage to anyone. Does a jump pilot have the same legal right? A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

Boy, look what happens ... you leave work, then suddenly you don't have time to check dz.com anymore... I hope people don't mind me resurrecting old threads, but this is my current favorite: Holding a grudge is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die. Very true. I used to do this all the time. I'd decide to quit when the pack I had was finished, then when it was, I'd go buy another pack. I recall thinking to myself that all I needed to do was wait until I got the desire to quit when I was finished with a pack. It didn't take me long to realize that that would never happen!!
