Yes, it might. I just wonder why? It's not like you gonna be anathematized because of voicing your pro-opinion. Maybe it is because it doesn't look "morally right", and therefore affects the "good Christian" self-image :P But why vote at all then? Perhaps some of us voted but had nothing else to add to the discussion? I voted "I am undecided," and I've been reading the thread, but I don't have anything to say about it. Definitely nothing to do with protecting my "good Christian" image though. And I'm guessing that's the case with a lot of the other votes. (Not that the votes on these polls mean much anyway.) -

California Bans Trans Fat in Restaurants and Bakeries

It seems that it might have been a better idea for California to simply require restaurants to identify on their menus which foods contain trans fat, perhaps with an explanation of why trans fat is bad. That would probably encourage most restaurants to just get rid of the trans fats from their foods without having to outright ban them. And a lot of restaurants here seem to be moving in that direction anyway. It seems fairly common now for menus to point out that they do not use trans fats in their food. Maybe leave it to the FDA to decide if it warrants being banned? Isn't that their job? -

That was the strongest one I've ever felt , but I've only lived in Cali since 2001. I was mesmerized by the shaking for a few seconds before it occurred to me that I should get out of the house. That's the weird thing about earthquakes - they just happen out of the blue. I grew up around tornadoes, which are scary too, but at least you have some warning with those.

Interesting. I've had the opposite experience in that everyone I've met online first has turned out to be pretty much exactly what I expected when I met them in person. I've never noticed much difference in people's online vs. offline personas. But I guess that could just be a perception thing.

I don't think that was the point. It's not much fun to bounce around like that even without anyone else in the car. But I think the point was that you are not putting only yourself in danger by not wearing a seatbelt.

I don't know. With the limited information, my opinion is that she is an adult who made a decision to give up a high-paying job to go live with some dude, and it turned out to be a bad decision. Personally, I can't imagine doing that and then thinking that the guy somehow owed me any money, even if he had made all sorts of big "promises."
