Wow, your school must have had vastly different history books than mine had. I recall the US settlers being portrayed as "not so nice" in our history books. But then we weren't forced to read the bible at my school either, so perhaps I went to a school that had a different agenda. (I can only imagine how much I would have hated school if I had to go to a Catholic school!)

I think I've gotten to a point where I really don't care what others believe, other than it being interesting to hear what they believe. I know that none of us have a provable answer, so who am I to tell others that my beliefs are "right" and theirs are "wrong"? We're all just guessing really, based on our individual life experiences. Now I do care about other people's actions, if those actions somehow cause harm to me. Which may mean that I indirectly care about their beliefs, since beliefs affect what people choose to do. But I feel pretty lucky in that I've been able to lead a reasonably happy and comfortable life so far without others' actions affecting me too much.

Well... Is bondage considered a related sport?

I don't go to Walmart very much, but if I do, it is because I am looking for something that I don't want to spend much money on. And that's pretty much all I expect from them - cheap stuff. If I want anything more than cheap stuff, I'll shop somewhere else, which I usually do. And I don't see much point in the cashier saying, "How are you?" because I doubt they really want the answer. (But I've always thought that was a stupid greeting anyway, unless it's sincere, which it rarely is.)

I use the "dot thingy" for stylistic reasons, but I like to think of myself as weak-minded too. And since I've discovered that it annoys some people, I occasionally use it for that reason as well...

Ok, here's the Murrieta Public Library construction webcam: http://www3.murrieta.org/librarycam/ Very exciting. And actually, the closest webcam is the one sitting on my desk, but I'm not posting a link to that.

Bill: we are talking about Keely here. Who knows what the little freak likes. Well actually I said "ladies," which would probably not include me. And I was probably lying to Bill anyway, as usual.

A period would be grammatically correct too, but a semicolon would sort of link the two thoughts together a bit more.

You beat me to it!

Right! Then why didn't you use a comma instead of an ellipse? The poor comma has been replaced. Awww. A comma would not be correct in that sentence anyway; a semicolon would be correct. But... we're not in English class, and I personally think proper grammar often looks odd in a casual forum. (Yes, I am a big offender with the dots. I use them to demonstrate my rambling talking/thinking. )

But you'll be more popular with the ladies if you're all sweaty at happy hour.

Need Realistic Thoughts on Helping a Friend Through Suicidal Depression
Shotgun replied to Blindpost's topic in The Bonfire
Actually, I think that exercise is one of the best antidepressants, and it can affect your brain chemistry when used regularly. The problem is finding the motivation to exercise when suffering from depression. A realistic and attainable goal such as going for a 20-minute walk three times per week can make it easier to find the motivation (this has helped me in the past). A nutritionist may be able to help as well because a bad diet certainly doesn't help with depression. And my personal experience is that "happy thoughts" or guided visualization (or something along those lines) can help as well. There is a really good classic therapy book called "A Guide to Rational Living" by Albert Ellis and Robert Harper, which is all about changing your thoughts in order to combat depression (another thing that has helped me a great deal). But again, finding the motivation to read is difficult when you are depressed. Also, she may want to consider changing therapists if the therapy is not working so well. Not all therapists are good at what they do, and it's also a very personal thing, so it may be a matter of finding the right person who can help her. I would personally steer clear of anyone who was too quick to prescribe meds, but that's just me... I've rarely seen meds really work for anyone, and I think that they should be a last resort. There is a lot of modern therapy that is based on the work of Albert Ellis (the author of the book I mentioned). These therapists would probably be listed as cognitive-behavior therapists or something like that. I personally have found this type of therapy to be very helpful. -
I guess it doesn't count as a "major problem"... well, unless it makes you do something dangerous. Other than that it sounds like fun.

I suspect that there are quite a few guys on here who regularly donate sperm without getting paid for it. (Sorry, it had to be said. )

I had to bring this thread up again just to ask... Is it really a good idea to pee in your wetsuit? Wouldn't it sort of stay in the suit with you???

So could several hundred DZ.commers.... Sounds like the making of a good reality show... Which skydiver will win the new liver??? Now if only one of us actually had a liver (or even part of one) that could be donated... I'm fairly certain that no one would want mine.

It's not so much about saving him from himself, but saving other people from him. I tend to agree that a bar owner (or server) should have no legal responsibility for a drunk driver, but they do have somewhat of a moral responsibility. Continuing to serve drinks to someone who is obviously drunk, just so that you can put more $$ in your pocket, is aiding in whatever the drunk person may end up doing. Alcohol is a pretty strong mind-altering drug, so after a certain point a person starts having less and less control over what they are doing. Yes, the person who is drinking should know better than to ever get to that point. But the server who continues to offer and bring more and more drinks is aiding in or even encouraging this behavior.

I like to be the big spoon. I feel claustrophobic when I'm the little spoon.
-
The restaurant apparently continued to serve alcohol to a drunk person and then let him get in his car and drive. While getting drunk and driving was ultimately the drunk driver's fault, I don't see the restaurant as being "clearly innocent."

You just had to bring Keith Richards into this, didn't you?

Well, if you have to be addicted to something, tea's a pretty good choice. And, as you can tell by our tea cupboard (pic attached), we like the tea too...

OMG, Ro, that is hilarious! You look so cute with the big eyes! (Not that you don't look cute anyway. )

Have you ever thought about a dildo as a piece of art work?
Shotgun replied to dweeb's topic in The Bonfire
That's, umm.... interesting. But when I saw this thread title, the first thing I thought of was the big penis sculpture in A Clockwork Orange. -
Not sure if it's a "European style village," but is it Idyllwild that you're thinking of?
