Well then obviously you need one, so perhaps you should consider getting one.

So, what is your safe word? Oh, and it's ok if you want to quote me old-school style. I know how you like hanging on to traditions and all.

I would have no problem with a naked 400-lb person walking down the street. I personally can't understand why that would bother anyone. I think most laws regarding clothing are silly anyway. What does it matter if people want to run around naked? And why can't I at least go topless at public beaches and swimming pools? This country needs a freakin' enema.

"Christians" Celebrating Paris Hilton's Sentence
Shotgun replied to Shotgun's topic in Speakers Corner
Did you just call me a touch hole??? How dare you personally attack me like that! Moderators, please ban tbrown because he is being mean to me. Oh, and judging from your avatar pic, yes you do look like you care about the Paris Hilton Crisis. -
Just take a naked picture of yourself, resize it to 65x75 pixels, and use that as your avatar.
-
Damn, I don't even remember doing Matthew McConaughey.
-
You seem like a very nice young man.

I have never seen you provide any proof that God exists, but I would certainly be interested in seeing such proof, if it exists. We've been through this already. Read way back in the thread. Oh, ok. I've been following the thread, so whatever it was, it must have been something that I didn't think of as actual proof.

I can send him a real picture of Remi hanging like that, for the right $$ of course.

Yeah, Albert Einstein believed in God; what an idiot that dude was. Wrong, he did not believe in a god but, was in awe of the world around him. And more quotes from Einstein: "I want to know God's thoughts; the rest are details." "God does not care about our mathematical difficulties. He integrates empirically." In none of the quotes you listed did he say, "I do not believe in God," but he says that he doesn't believe in a certain type of god - a personal god or one "who rewards and punishes" people. It sounds to me like he believed in god - his own definition of god. But whatever it was he believed in, he chose to call it "god"; therefore, he believed in god. (And again, this is why saying that you do/don't believe in god means very little without further explanation.)
-
Right, but he did choose to call it god, so I assume he falls into the category of "those that believe in god." From what I know of his beliefs, they are actually quite similar to mine, but I choose not to call it god because that word is usually assumed to mean the Christian god or at least a creator of some sort. So I don't believe in god, which would technically make me an atheist, but I choose not to call myself that because of the assumptions applied to that word too. Our vocabulary is really just not fit for describing such things. Thus the endless arguments that often boil down to nothing more than semantics.

"Christians" Celebrating Paris Hilton's Sentence
Shotgun replied to Shotgun's topic in Speakers Corner
There's good reason to celebrate when justice is done. I don't see anything wrong with that. It's far better than letting wrong-doers get off free. Personally, I think it's a good thing when justice is done, but it doesn't make me feel happy and joyous to the point of wanting to celebrate. I get the impression that anyone who is literally celebrating Paris's jail sentence is celebrating more than just your everyday justice being done. I don't see these same people hanging around the DMV, hooting and hollering everytime someone pays a traffic fine. -
Well, I don't have any desire to actually be in jail myself. Hmm, unless perhaps it is this type of jail. (probably NSFW)

if everything has a maker, then god has a maker too, and god's maker has a maker etc. so who made god's maker's maker's maker? O Whoa, all that talk about makers is making me wish I had some Maker's Mark.

Aren't we all? -
Yeah, Remi recently posted that in another thread: http://www.metacafe.com/watch/280819/crocodile_hunters_2nd_most_dangerous_encounter/

"Christians" Celebrating Paris Hilton's Sentence
Shotgun replied to Shotgun's topic in Speakers Corner
Well, it's pretty sad that anyone would be celebrating her sentence (and I don't think that "nearly everybody" is), but I would expect different behavior from people who claim to be Christians. It doesn't seem very Christ-like to be celebrating another person's problems, even if that person has done something wrong. But then so many people choose to call themselves Christians that the word no longer conveys much about a person's beliefs or morals. -
That sounds like an interesting book, but... "6 used & new available from $79.98" - yikes! And now that I clicked on it, I'm sure I'll get some interesting new recommendations from amazon.com.
