How ironic (hence the reason why I'm whore posting) that this thread is only 18 replies away from 1000 (there's less posts I guess because some have been deleted by our moderators) and I'm only 18 jumps away from 100. I some how think this thread will easily reach 1000 replies before I get 100 jumps, but will I get my 100th in before Eloy or while I'm at Eloy? It's all the people from California who've setup shop here in Colorado. They're the ones driving like indy race car drivers. But it's even more intense up in the north east. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Anyone have a jumpable round that I can borrow???
CanuckInUSA replied to konradptr's topic in The Bonfire
First the RW jump and now the round. Man you're killing me. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
Lew Is than something like a painter's or a mechanics suit you speak of? I'm in the market for a free fly suit (something that I'd love to have before the Eloy boogie), but even if I placed an order today, I doubt it would arrive in time and my RW suit just isn't the right sort of thing for my dark side ventures. By the way, you're not the only one who's downwinded a landing. I had a brain fart on Sunday and was watching one of the first guys land. He was heading west and I took my eyes off of him not knowning that he actually hooked the turn back east at a fairly low altitude. Well the next thing you know I'm only 100 or so feet from the ground and headed west downwind (while a couple of other jumpers are headed east) and I figured the downwind was the better option than trying to turn. But would you believe I made one of my better flares (now I have an idea as to what a swoop landing is like) and I ran out the landing. I'm happy that I didn't hurt myself, but I'm not happy with my brain fart. Oh well, hopefully I learned a thing or two. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Congrats!!! Isn't freeflying fun? I'm too currently jumping in an RW suit and initially it gave me tons on trouble, but I'm ok with it now. But I'm definitely going to want to pick up a free fly suit as I've tried to go head down on several occasions now, but failed due to no doubt technique, but also wearing the wrong clothing. So I've got the basic sit working, but now I need to refine several of my techniques. The first problem I need to fix is getting myself into better 90 degree angles. On my last jump of the day yesterday an experience free flier jumped with me and afterwards he told me that my knees and my waist were bent more than 90 degrees (I was leaning a tad too far forward). Then I need to work on my forward movement (being able to move from one part of the sky to another) as I've been on several free fly jumps with other more experienced jumpers but I couldn't get to whatever piece of the sky they were occupying. And finally I need to work on slowing down my fall rate (I'm bigger than many of the guys I've jumped with and I fall like a rock). Anyway, welcome to the dark side and good luck with your progression. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

That's just too funny.

Congrats Clint. I know the excitement you must be feeling because I was there too not that long ago. I'm likely going to come down to Canon City one more weekend before the year is out and maybe we can meet up then. Any idea as to what weekends the Caravan will be running at SDTR in December? 0:12:0 I never made it to the Skydive Dallas boogie as I had intended, but I had some good jumps at Mile-Hi this weekend. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Congrats on your student progression. It wasn't that long ago that I was going through my AFF, so I know how you feel. It sounds like you're wearing a chest mounted altimeter (which is fine, I often wear one as well). But don't you wear a wrist mounted one? My wrist altimeter is my primary altimeter while the chest and ProTrack (which is an awesome device) are just secondary. Anyway good luck with the rest of your training and keep us posted.

Hi DJan The weather in Colorado has been good this weekend (and it's not over). I got five jumps in at Mile-Hi on Friday and another four in today (funny how that works). And I'll be back at the DZ tomorrow for more. By the way ... I voted for you in the USPA elections, even though we've never met. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

All I can say is I'm sorry dude ... well maybe not ... I've been to Pacific Skydivers once, but I didn't get to jump due to the weather. But I still picked up a t-shirt to prove I was there ... Now how many jumps can I get in tomorrow? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

good place to buy outerwear (ski stuff, etc)?
CanuckInUSA replied to mountainman's topic in The Bonfire
WOOHOO....this means you are taking me snowboarding in your car So just drop me off at copper (my season pass is there), at oh about 8am and pick me up at 3ish...I should be good and tanked by then and not feeling a single bruise. Oops this is Kelli by the way, didn't realize that Derek's computer didn't really log me on. Although I'm sure Derek would take you up on the ride too. Knuckle dragger ... Are you jumping this weekend? I never made it to Texas this weekend , but I got five jumps in today at Mile-Hi. Do you know if enough people are showing up to fill the Caravan? I may make it down there on Sunday, but I'm not 100% sure. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
To "B" or not to "B"? Or, should I just wait and "C"?
CanuckInUSA replied to ECVZZ's topic in The Bonfire
If currency is not an issue for you, then waiting is the right thing to do. But by having my "B" I have an extra 30 days of currency in case of poor weather, an injury or no money to jump. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
Granted it wasn't a tandem jump, but our very own DZ.COMer konradptr has a cut away today after a line over on a jump that I was on. But I'm happy to report that all is fine and his reserve is supposed to be repacked tonight and he'll be jumping tomorrow.

Kelli Fortunately you can get to A-Basin by two routes. The easier route is from Keystone and would highly be recommended if you're driving your Mustang and it's snowing. The other route is from Loveland Pass and is ok if you're driving something like my Jeep Wrangler, but not so good in a rear wheel drive sports car. Well I know most of you out there don't care, but Skydive Dallas is going to have to wait for another day before I can visit it. Last night at 8:00 pm I left the Denver area headed east into Kansas before intending to turn south into Oklahoma and finally attend the Skydive Dallas Thanksgiving boogie. But a little more than four hours into the trip I experience a weird humming sound coming from my engine (I believe it was the cooling fan going bonkers) and I also noticed that my engine temperature went from a normal setting to a very cold setting (but I didn't experience any power loss and the oil pressure guage was fine). So I pulled over at the first exit, got a room at a motel and intended to get some much needed sleep. But I couldn't sleep and three hours later I was back on the road heading east, but this engine noise was spooking me so I turned around after twenty minutes and drove the five hours back home to Boulder, CO. It looks like I over reacted to my fears of breaking down, but I didn't want to get stranded in rural Kansas, Oklahoma or Texas with a sick car (especially on a holiday weekend). So here I am, back home with a motel bill for three hours spent tossing and turning, some gas bills and close to 1000 miles driven in rural Colorado and Kansas in the dead of night and I haven't slept in more than 24 hours. Well at least I have a case of beer cooling in the fridge (the case I was bringing to share with the Dallas people). I guess I should get some sleep now and drink some beer when I get up. And it looks like I'll be jumping at good ole' Mile Hi this weekend. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

WOOHOO! just got my "B" licence confirmation
CanuckInUSA replied to usmcdannyboy's topic in The Bonfire
I don't know what Eloy's policies are concerning us "B" License holders who have yet to do any night jumps, but I'll be breaking FAR 91.17 if I jump on New Years Eve. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
Hmmm ... I'm having a deja-vu moment right about now. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Any takers out there who want to share 1/4 or 1/2 of a room? PM me if you do. However in a few hours I'll be heading out of town for the weekend. So I may need to get back to you next week. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I don't want to take away from the serious nature of this thread, but fall arrived here a long time ago and winter has reminded us that it's just around the corner numerous times. But as long as there's an airplane willing to take myself up, I jump no matter how cold it is. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Well it looks like I'll be hoping in my car after my early volleyball game tonight headed for Texas and the Skydive Dallas Thanksgiving Boogie. I believe I will be seeing "Heftee" there (a sort delinquent DZ.COMer I've been talking with the last month or so) and I was just wondering if there were any other DZ.COMers I should be looking out for. I know AggieDave mentioned he would be there on Thursday, but I likely won't be arriving at the DZ until late Thursday afternoon or early evening.
