  1. Only in your mind. Interesting you should say that. I did NOT write this article (fast forward to his first point): http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2012/09/04/kelly-mcparland-where-obama-went-wrong/ So when a very much Liberal leaning columnist thinks many people viewed Obama as a messiah, if a Liberal leaning columnist points out the irrational behavior of the Nobel committee for awarding Obama a Nobel Peace Prize for merely existing, I think this is more than "just in my mind". Should Romney go on to win and should Romney go on to be just as bad as Obama, trust me in 2016 I will be calling for his removal as well. PS: I just violated one of my own "recent" rules I have for my new work ethics and that is "Do not post messages on the DorkZone while at work". So I will now crawl back under the rock from which I came and do some work my employer pays me to do. So don't expect to see me around here today to debate what this ever so Liberal columnist wrote. But I will check back this evening to see all the PAs that have been directed at me for not worshiping his holyness. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  2. Here are a few truths about Obama. 1) He grew up surrounded by Marxists. 2) He lived a privileged life as he went to some prestigious schools, though we do not know what he did in these schools because all his academic records and accomplishments are closely guarded secrets. 3) After leaving school he worked as a community organizer and because he is an above average orator (when his teleprompter works), someone thought he was a prime candidate to be some sort of hero to the struggling classes if he only entered politics. 4) Once he entered politics, he was fast tracked by the media into his stardom. 5) He has zero business experience and prior to being elected POTUS he had zero experience being the leader of any government organization. Zero business experience and zero experience running any sort of government organization pretty much sums up his poor performance in his 4 years as Prez. Yes the GOP have made life difficult for him these last two years, but when he had complete control in his first two years, he sure did not do much with that time as well? I am on record saying the GOP have their own skeletons. I am on record saying both parties have done a disservice to the American people. But all we get from you appears to be "It's not Obama's fault, it's not the Democrats fault, all blame is clearly on the GOP and anyone who criticizes Obama and the Democrats is dishonest and living in a fantasy world". There are just not enough hours in the day to deal with all this partisan BS. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  3. Really because I really would like to know why Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for doing absolutely nothing except that many people viewed him as their savior of humanity. How many other people in this world have won the Nobel Peace Prize for doing nothing? Obama is a divider and it is rather sad how he vilifies successful people. Successful people should be emulated not criticized. Why do you think Clint Eastwood decided to speak out against Obama. Mr Eastwood once liked Obama, but that was before he saw what a divisive politicians that Obama is. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  4. Obama was marketed by his media pals to be "The messiah, the savior of humanity, the great uniter of the human race complete with his Nobel Peace Prize". But Obama has been anything but a uniter and the only job Obama cares about is his own job. He has been a divider pitting classes against each other and shitting all over the USA's largest trading partner with his protectionist anti-trade, anti-business policies. But with all that going on with the failed Messiah, the Republicans do NOT get a "Get out of jail for free card" for they too still have plenty of skeletons in their closet. The USA is in desperate need for a 3rd option. Of course we know from our own experience north of the border that 3rd options by default are not the solution. 3rd options must still have good policies and must not be afraid to do unpopular things when they are the right thing to do. Governing from the center and not actually doing anything because you fear alienating some special interest group that you depend on is no solution. For years the LPC just assumed that they would always be the "Natural Governing Party", and when they got caught red handed stealing money from the tax payers, the voters rightly punished them to the point where they still have not recovered. What am I trying to say? Obama and the Democrats have failed the US people with their politics of division and they have failed their largest trading partner with their protectionist policies. But the Republicans also have a history of failing the American people. The USA is screwed with these two political parties. The USA desperately needs a 3rd option. But who? Look at what the media and the GOP did to Ron Paul when he tried to be different. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  5. I purposely missed most of the speeches (I had better things to do) but I did catch the later half of Clint's appearance. He sure has aged a lot since I last saw him anywhere but the good news is that he has kept himself trim. Anyway he said some funny stuff. Interesting how the Left likes to laugh at others but go absolutely ballistic with their vitriol when someone says something funny about their messiah. One part I found funny was when Clint talked about letting Romney take over, and that Obama could still use an airplane, but not the big one. That was too wasteful. Here is what he said. I also thought this was one of his better more serious remarks: In 2008 I thought the Republicans needed a time out. I thought that it was time to let someone else try the job. Well I feel we are at that crossroad again and it's time to let someone else try. Romney is not the messiah, he is not the savior. But he is a successful businessman, he is someone who had success working as a Governor of a major state and he did help turn the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics around. I really do not understand why these days some people in America demonize successful people. America needs to emulate successful people, not demonize them. But for some reason in Obama's world success is something to be looked down on, unless of course you are one of Obama's successful Hollywood friends. Then success is something Obama approves of. But he sure does not like successful business people. Anyway, good stuff from Clint. He made my day. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  6. In Canada Netflixs sucks ass. It is not the same service that exists in the USA. In Canada only a fraction of the movies that are available in the USA service are available in Canada. Outside of illegal downloads it appears the options for those of us whose heads splits in two when we talk, is iTunes or youtube.com/movies. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  7. Hope they were good songs in your head. There is nothing worse than being out on something like your bike with some bad songs. Also "Talking Heads" is an acquired taste. I remember when I first heard the band in the early to mid 1980s my reaction was "What the #### is this". But my friends were persistent listening to them and the more I listened to them the more I liked them and grew to appreciate the brilliance of David Byrne. 8. Who are the greatest "Brilliant Dorks" of all time? You know people who were absolutely outstanding at what they did but who were also dorks. He of course is not the only one, but I would like to start it off by nominating David Byrne, lead singer of the 1980's icon band Talking Heads. Here is a taste of his dorky brilliance from the 1984 movie concert Stop Making Sense. Who else should join David as one of the best brilliant dorks? 9. You need to open up and see beyond the winter sports clothing. Who is sexier? Julia Mancuso or Lindsey Vonn? Oh and to prove Lindsey is more than just a pretty face, watch this. But silly me I am sure you wanted to see more of Lindsey than just her world class skiing skills. So here you go enjoy. I also like Tina Maze from Slovenia. Tina is proof that there are some hot Slavic women out there. Don't believe me? Watch this. Are you sure the Winter Olympics does little for you? Maybe it's just me, but I think these Winter Olympians with their big muscular thighs and butts are hot. Or maybe it's just not your business. ROFLMAO. 10. I saw something yesterday which helped cement the impression I have of Type A Personalities. I drove into a large strip mall's parking lot and one of the first things I encountered when I entered the parking lot was a slow and very erratically driven student driver vehicle that caused a bit of a minor traffic jam. Since there was a big sign on the top of this vehicle with two occupants in the vehicle, I assumed a "new driver" was at the controls and I just waited for this vehicle to clear the way before I proceeded to where I needed to go. Ten or so minutes later, I was walking back to my car when this very same student driver passed me and continue to drive slow and erratically. But the funniest thing happened next. Mr "I am the King of the World" Type A personality driving his flashy big red with a racing strip Cobra Mustang encounters this slow and erratically driven student driver in the parking lot and the moron driving the Mustang was on his horn and yelling obscenities "Hey asshole why don't you learn how to fucking drive". Sure the student driver still has a long way to go before they should be allowed to drive unsupervised on the public roads, but I thought that was the point. I thought the reason why the student driver was paying money to his instructor in a well marked vehicle was "because he was trying to learn how to drive". I briefly thought about telling the Type A asswipe in the Mustang to cool clown, but I was likely better off just keeping my mouth shut. However I would like to see this Type A asswipe on the race track, to see if his own driving capabilities are as good as he thinks they are. There is nothing better than passing someone on the race track who drives a faster car than you. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

  12. It is an annual civic event with a daily Rodeo that draws over one million visitors and a lot of alcohol is consumed during this 10 day event. These two young men were most likely a little tipsy. Yes drunk people can be somewhat aggressive and there is no excuse for being drunk except that during the Stampede thousands and thousands of people do get drunk. I respect the difficult and dangerous job cops have to do. But many cops are wired differently. Living next door to this park occasionally venturing into the park, I can't remember the last time I heard about an assault or a mugging in the park. It is a park frequented by families during the daylight hours. Sure the possibility is always there. Calgary has seen massive growth in it's population from about 700,000 people 10-15 years ago to over 1.1 million today and some of the new arrivals are not nice people. Crime does exist in this city, but it exists in other parts of the city and the crime usually occurs from dusk until dawn. Muggings in Nose Hill Park during the day light hours are just unheard of. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  13. This is my neighborhood. I live in one of the suburban communities that borders Nose Hill Park where this alleged incident occurred. Every once in a blue moon you may encounter some rude people, but I find it hard to imagine what prompted this visiting cop to think he would have been better off with a firearm. Yes it could happen, anything can happen. But the odds of being mugged in Nose Hill Park are extremely low. Now if this guy was in Inglewood, or Dover, or Forrest Lawn or "Insert your favorite ethnic restaurant here" at 4 am when all the street gangs gather to settle their affairs, well then he might have a case. But Nose Hill Park in the middle of the day? Not likely ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  14. you seem to have an emotional attachment to this odd belief that the bust did not occur. There was a Tech Bubble and it did burst (I have been working in IT since the mid 1980s and I very much experienced this Tech Bubble). However the bursting Tech Bubble did not effect everyone the same way. Obviously the hardest hit were the VCs who were far too loose with their money and most of the VCs learned a hard lesson and became much more diligent after the bubble. Next effected were people invested in Tech stocks in the market who did not get out before the bubble burst. Obviously people working at the failed tech companies were personally effected with numerous job losses, but anyone who relied on business from those in the tech sector who had money to spend were also effected to some degree. No it did not effect everyone the same way, but there very much was a Tech Bubble that burst in the 2000-2001 time frame. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  15. The women's beach volleyball gold medal match goes tomorrow featured two time defending gold medalists Misty May and Kerri Walsh against their fellow Americans April Ross and Jennifer Kessy. 19. Has Chick-fil-A banned any Homosexual patrons from eating at any of their franchise locations? Has a Chick-fil-A franchise banned any Homosexuals from applying for jobs? Has a Chick-fil-A franchise harassed or fired any Homosexuals for their sexual orientation? Exactly what civil rights have been violated? Or do you believe in "Guilty until proven innocent" and "the only free speech I believe in, is when I agree with what is being said". All that happened here was that the Head Honcho of Chick-fil-A exercised his free speech saying "He does not agree with same sex marriage". You have the right to disagree with his views of the world, but he has not committed any hate crimes and so far he has not violated anybody's civil rights. To allow politicians to decide who can and who can not open up a business based on someone's religious beliefs and/or free speech is a slippery slope you do not want to go down. Let the market decide whether or not Chick-fil-A franchises can be viable in all their new locations. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  20. I didn't see the Opening Ceremonies since I was at work. I used to like the Summer Olympics but lately they have done little for me. I really am not interested in them. I respect the individual athletes for their dedication to be the best they can be in their respective sports, but I am not about to waste time as a TV spectator watching things like Badminton, Rowing, Archery, most Athletics events, most Swimming events, Equestrian events, etc, etc, etc. At least in the Winter Olympics there is an element of speed and danger in some of the events like Alpine Skiing, Freestyle Skiing, Ski Jumping, Bobsled and Luge (etc, etc, etc) that makes watching the events on TV more interesting. However for the peeps who may be in London right now and are lucky enough to have tickets I do hope they have fun. I was 12 years old living in Montreal during the 1976 Summer Games and did I go to see live the Gold Medal Women's Volleyball match, Women's preliminary Gymnastics, several round robin Soccer games, some indoor Cycling and Men's Judo and that was all pretty cool from the eyes of a young naive 12 year old kid. 21. I lived in CO for 8 years from the beginning of 1998 through to the end of 2005. Yes I had insurance through my employers and for the most part I did not have very many healthcare issues. I did however use the US healthcare system a few times. 1) My first experience with the US healthcare system was after a sports injury where I visited an emergency room in Colorado Springs on a Sunday afternoon. There was no line up, I was seen almost immediately, treated and sent on my way. I can't tell you why there was no lineup at the hospital, but it was a stark contrast with the massive lineups that can take hours and hours experienced north of the border. 2) In 2001 I was taking flight lessons to become a private pilot. Of course before you can solo you need a medical. So I found a local doctor in Boulder who was authorized to do aviation medicals, scheduled an appointment and low and behold for the most part I was healthy but he was concerned about my blood pressure (high blood pressure does run in my family). He put me on medication and took me on as a regular patient of his. From here on out, several times a year I would need to visit him as he took an interest in my condition. I would schedule an appointment, show up to his office, wait no more than 10 minutes once at the facility and then be escorted into one of the private treatment rooms, wait a couple of more minutes where the doctor would enter holding my file. He examined me, possibly gave me the same or a new prescription and sent me on my way. As I said, I had healthcare insurance through my US employers and when I did use the US healthcare system I never waited more than 30 minutes and got what appeared to be excellent personalized service. Contrast this with the current "Socialized System" I have returned to where having your own doctor who knows you is just not in the cards for many people these days, where waiting hour upon hour before you are seen and when you are seen it is a very impersonal service. This is the norm not just for myself but the norm for millions of other Canuckleheads. Anyone who thinks the "Socailized Healthcare" system in Canuckistan is working is just not paying attention. The US system is far from perfect, but as long as you are insured, it is a million times better than what is available up here. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  22. The question remains, did Mr Holmes hide his evil dark side from Ms Fenton or is she just incompetent? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  23. It does? That's not my experience. I live in a country that offers "Socialized Healthcare" and I don't have a doctor who knows me. If I need medical help I either need to go to the hospital emergency waiting room (first off not the place to go if your condition is not seriously, secondly not everyone has quick access to a hospital as there aren't that many of them in a very large country). The other place I can go seek help is at a clinic (once again there are not that many of them) where they do NOT know me, where there is more often than not massive line ups and instead of receiving personalized care for whatever condition ails you, the people working at these clinics care more about processing the patients as fast as they can, regardless of how inaccurate their diagnosis may be. If you are lucky enough to get an accurate diagnosis you are then put on a waiting list that could take months or years before the specialist sees you. No the only time our socialized healthcare system ever resembles anything that works is if you are on death's door at the emergency room and can be saved. Oh and don't tell me my "Socialized Healthcare" is free. It's not free. I send large portions of my income going to the government which in turn offers me impersonal long waits and substandard care before I can be diagnosed and even longer waits before I can be actually treated. Count yourself lucky if your "Socialized Healthcare" gives you rapid, accurate and personalized service. My "Socialized Healthcare" system sucks. 24. It appears that the psychiatrist either does not know what she is doing in her profession, or she was complacent in her job failing to diagnose the accused. Either way it's not a vote of confidence for her abilities working as a psychiatrist around young and impressionable minds. However maybe just maybe, in her defense, she was doing her job and the accused simply hid his violent dark side whenever the two met. One thing that is not know at this time (if you had actually read the article you were so happy to include here) is "It can not be ascertained if Ms Fenton was caring for Mr Holmes under a threat-assessment program or if he was under routine counseling Ms Fenton provided to students on campus". Until this question can be answered, the media is rather premature with their assumptions that Mr Holmes was seeing a shrink as opposed to possibly interacting with a school counselor. Clearly the man is evil, no doubt about that. But we still do not know if he hid his evil dark side or if these so called experts really do not know what they are doing. News at eleven ... 25. It's hard to imagine what would cause the US government to wage a "Syrian style civil war" on it's own citizens and you have to think a certain portion of the US military would not want to wage war on their own country. But if the US government was to go rogue, it could very well be a UN lead affair. When was the last time the people of the USA ever had a say in anything that goes on in the UN? It's the US government not the US people who have the UN veto and lately the UN has made little sense in many things that they are doing. But I like to think that as long as the 2nd Amendment exists, North Americans can sleep easy knowing the likelihood of the US government going rogue is slim to nil.
