  1. Dave I voted for #1 and believe it or not, I have exactly what you've listed as #2 (the Icarus Signature Colors with neon green as the predominate color and black as the rib colos). But the black isn't seen very well. Just thought I'd give you a little heads on in case you didn't know. I wouldn't copy the Team Extreme colors, but I do like their design and if I had a chance to order another Crossfire2, it would be to use a similar scheme but different colors. 2. Well I'm only aware of Mary's two rules of skydiving. #1) Don't hurt Mary. #2) Don't forget #1. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  3. Does Mary have 11 rules? I thought she only had two. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  4. So weather permitting, am I going to need to practice the Mary's #1 and #2 rules of skydiving this weekend in Brush? What about the fly swatter? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  5. And the water doesn't smell like rotten eggs? Z-Hills is a must visit DZ before I leave this planet (and hopefully this visit will occur something within the next 12 months).
  6. The timing of my up and coming layoff (if it happens) will have a lot to do with what my short term future is. But I'm looking at taking time off (who knows how long that is) as I think it will be good for my soul (but not good for my wallet). During the winter of '90, I took a break from work and worked as a full-time ski patroller (I was a volunteer patroller before then) and it turned out to be the best winter of my life and the year I became a skier. And I'd love to do that again for a season of skydiving. But lack of healthcare insurance could be a real bummer if an injury was to occur. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  7. Nice sunset pic Eener ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  8. Is this something which was built in the last year? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  9. Hey Ryan I voted yes. On my 401st jump, I started flying my Crossfire2 139 loaded a tad less than 1.6:1 and have since made 57 jumps on the canopy and have yet to biff a single landing (knocking incredibly hard on wood right now). According to the wing loading thing-a-ma-bob I saw yestderday, I am 0.1 over the recommended limits. So when you factor in that I have downsized fairly aggresively, but have received formal canopy control training and was a licensed private pilot with over 400 airplane landings prior to becoming a skydiver. I'd say that my calculated risks of learning high performance landings has paid off so far to date. Of course I do not consider myself immune from injury or death and have experienced the corner on more than one occasion. When traffic permits, I am now performing 270 front riser carving hook turns (and loving them) and in fact you have witnessed at least one of my landings a few weeks back at Mile-Hi. But I still need to respect the discipline of swooping and strive to make baby steps with my swooping progression as opposed to looking to join the Pro Swoop Tour next month. Oh, I don't have any plans of downsizing for a while. I will put at least 300 (if not much more) jumps on this canopy and I'd really like to have my 270s nailed, be able to add rear risers and let's not forget being able to consistently perform flared turns before I ever think of moving down to something like a Crossfire2 119 and then way down the road maybe a Velocity 109. 10. Now why didn't I think of that. I wonder what the golf course management people would do if all of a sudden a bunch of swoopers start using one of their ponds on a regular basis. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  11. LOL ... not MH (even though things have improved there this summer). In CO I would have to say Brush is the winner, but there's got to be some others which kick ass across the country. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  12. Hey Denise I watch the video footage of the cross-country jump again last night and now I know why I didn't see you fly under me near the beginning of the jump (even though my camera briefly captured you). You see, I was looking behind me for you guys and didn't know where you were. And then as my head and eyes looked back in front of me, you flew under neither and behind me and then my attention went towards Jimbo as I chased him down. Had I seen you, you know I would have tried to chase you down and shoot you out of the sky (dog fighting style). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  13. I knew I was marrying you for a reason. Because you're always thinking about your next jump. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  14. Unless I had a really bad spot, I wasn't worried about jumping in Sebastian as my canopy seemed to do quite well gliding back to the DZ (of course we had some decent tails winds last weekend which didn't hurt). The landing pitch wasn't as nicely maintained as Eloy though (I have no idea what the grass is like in Perris, Elsinore and Z-Hills as I have yet to jump at any of those places). Having a swoop pond to play in (once my skills are up to the task) is a bonus and Eloy and Sebastian don't have those. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  15. Tonight I need to get off of my rear end and capture some of my recent jumps from my camcorder to my computer. And one of those jumps was a cross-country flight I did last Saturday night out in Sebastian FL where they let us out over the ocean (about 6-8 miles from the DZ), we pulled high and flew back to the DZ (dog fighting with other canopies when possible along the way). I'll try and post some stills from the video footage as the sunset and scenery around Sebastian were beautiful. Also, flying your canopy up high gives you a great opportunity on learning how you canopy will react to different control inputs. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  16. They are both on my list of DZs to visit before I die. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  17. That is very much the impression I had from my week in Eloy last x-mas. Oh I haven't forgotten. In fact you and I can make a quick trip up to Vegas during the Holiday Boogie right? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  18. Yes at some point I need to visit Texas. It would be cool to visit where you and Pablito jump and I also have a friend who jumps out of Skydive Dallas. But any Texas trip would likely only be for a week or so. I was thinking of taking an extended trip where I used some of my savings for food and lodging and hopefully make some $$$ packing (and maybe even tandem video if I can prove myself in that realm) and use money earned at the DZ for fun jumps. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  19. During Rantoul of this year, due to a low ceiling I did a flop n' pop out of Mullin's King Air and I was in his plane for less than one minute before it was time to exit. I didn't catch the exact altitude that we jumped from, but it was likely some where between 2000 and 2500 feet. There was no issue here with executing a successful flop n' pop except that I didn't have much time under canopy from opening until landing. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  20. I find myself in an interesting position. My job may not last much longer (I'm working at a start up software company) and while I absolutely love Colorado, it's not a cheap place to live and may have to leave the state sometime in the future. Anyway ... if I decided to spend sometime (sort of like a vacation before returning to reality) jumping at some of the bigger DZs in the country (Eloy, Perris, Elsinore, Sebastian or Z-Hills) which DZ am I likely to encounter less wind? I realize that the WX changes with the seasons, but this potential time away from home would likely be spend in the Fall, Winter or Spring months. I'm thinking Eloy would have the least winds, but maybe I'm wrong. What do you think? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  21. A kid!!! Seriously, I'm likely to find myself in a similar scenario and I was thinking about my options last night ranging from looking for a new job, a new job in a new skydiver friendly state, a new job back in Canada or cutting away and becoming a professional full-time skydiver. I think initially I would look for a new job here in CO, but if nothing pans out (it's not a cheap state to live in) moving back to Canada would be the responsible thing as becoming a full-time skydiver would be hard on me financially and I would likely be living in the US illegally (like all the other foreign skydivers ). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  22. I personally don't think of women as dudes, but that's just me. I know of at least one guy who calls his cute girlfriend a dude as well. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  23. FYI ... Eener is a girl. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  24. Bummer ... my job is on jeopardy as well. It's likely safe for the next couple of months. But it's a start up software company which may be approaching the end of the line in terms of funding. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  25. As long as your belayer doesn't fall alseep, top roping is a pretty safe form of rock climbing. Actually it would be really fun to try some rapping (rappeling) if the planets align. But you do need to know how to safely rap, so it's not recommeded for 1st timers (unless we've got two ropes and set up a firemen's belay which once again I seemed to forget the details of how to set it up).
