  1. I had a great time at this years boogie. And even though I only made one one-on-one jump with Omar and Greg respectively (Greg and I tried to hook up again as the boogie grew to a close, but the planets just weren't aligned), having access to those two was outstanding and we thank you for this Betsy. I saw that at times you were stressed and/or tired, but it was because of you that many of us had some great skydives. I'd also like to thank Amy, TJ and Jeffro for organizing some kick ass tracking and rodeo dives and my only regret was that I missed out on trying one of those Ampinaty (spelling?) dives. But one of the good freefliers at my home DZ (who was at Eloy) talking about doing some of those when we get home. So one day I will get to try it. I also had some great one-on-one conversations with Brian Burke (I wish I would have talked to him before my reserve ride), Pablito and many others and learned so much on this trip. I attended the base and birdman seminars, not neccessarily to start base jumping or to start making birdman jumps (I have done a birdman jump in the past), but I attended those seminars to try and understand those disciplines better. And of course, let's not forget what Hooknswoop did on the cross-country jump. I will never forget seeing Derek land with a canopy between his legs and then to see one of my close friends land soon after under their reserve and thinking, man some weird stuff happened on that skydive. I only wish I had my camera rolling when Derek landed as it would have complimented Brad's video of Peter cutting away and of course Derek's and DaGimp's video footage of the event. As far as what could be changed? Hmmm ... if SDA could control the weather, that would be awesome. But I know I'm asking a little too much. Finding a place to pack can be a challenge during a large boogie like this and I was lucky that I was able to use my friend Jim's packing area that he personally setup. But I'm not sure if it is SDA's task of creating more temporary packing areas, or is it we as skydivers visiting the boogie who must ensure we have a place to pack. It's likely our responsibility to create our own packing areas I guess. Anyway, all in all some great skydives occurred at this boogie. I met some great people and you know that I will be back next year and likely before that (either for the Easter boogie or the Rob Harris boogie). Skydive Arizona Rocks!!! 2. Did you ever get any footage of some of our tracking dives? I have five different views from one of those dives. Mine, Brad's, Greg's, Steve Curtis's and an awesome view from FreeflyDrew showing Curtis and Omar geeking each other. I don't know if you are interested, but I have some good skydives on my camera and you've got to think that guys like Drew (just to name a name) would also have some neat footage from his skydives. By the way, Terresa rocks with her tracking dives. But she better watch out!!! I have her in my sights. Just give me a little time to improve my skills (it's nothing that 1000 jumps can't fix right). 3. Well it sounds like you and I (based on your tandem thread gone down the WrongWay ... pardon the pun) should be setting up our own skydiving web site together. But despite liking DZ.COM (thank you Sangiro, you rock), I can think of worse things to happen to me if I was to lose my privileges on these boards. I can do that, but I'm not sure if any good will come of it. My wording in this thread could have been better. I mention that this person was a DZ.COM moderator (because they are), but this incident had nothing to do with them being a moderator and for that I am wrong (at least I can admit that I make mistakes). I still do find it some what amusing that almost 50% of the people who have voted feel that this individual is allowed to do anything they want while on a jump plan (including cutting in front of another group so as to check their spot). Oh well ... who am I to question the actions of this individual. I do know that if the shoe was on the other foot, most if not all of you would be saying that cutting in front of another group to check your spot would be the wrong thing to do. 4. Cool pics Jason. To bad we couldn't pull off that double spock. But now that I see those pics, I see that my legs aren't spread out enough and thus the minor fall rate issue at that instance. Oh well ... it's all good. Thanks for the jumps. By the way, I still haven't sat down and watched much of the video I captured while I was in Eloy. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  5. If you could watch the video, you will see this moderator blocking the door. Landing out in Eloy is not a big deal (in fact it wasn't that bad of a spot). Of course instead of listening to the scenario, all of a sudden you seem to be painting the freefliers are the ones in the wrong. Once again, what the hell was this moderator doing cutting in front of another group in order to check his spot. He had no business being at the threshhold of the SkyVan's door before the group in front of him exited. Of course I can't expect someone like you to believe me because in your mind this individual is capable of doing no wrong. But the video shows it all. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  6. I have video of a certain DZ.COM moderator cutting in front of some other skydivers while jumping out of a SkyVan during the Eloy Holiday boogie. Let me setup the scenario and then you vote about how you feel concerning this incident. While on jump run, the last group of of freefliers (a 2-way) are about to jump and a bunch of wing suit skydivers will then exit after this freefly group in one of their flocking dives. But for some reason, this moderator decided to cut in front of one of the two freefliers in what appears to be the desire to check his spot. What was this moderator doing? What was he thinking? How would he be reacting if the shoe was on the other foot? IMHO, this moderator had no business cutting in front of the freefly group, yet this is what he did and it ultimately resulting in this last freeflying group to land off because this moderator delayed their exit. What is so wrong with waiting for the group in front of you to exit before you check your spot. It's not like these freefliers were student skydivers needing help with their spot. The two freefliers are very experienced (in fact one of them has his AFF Instructor Rating). Either this moderator spaced out (in which case one wonders how often he spaces out while on a skydive) or this moderator thinks he's above everyone else and feels it's okay to cut in front of other groups in order to check his spot. So you tell me what you think? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  7. Well said Alana. I didn't spend enough time mingling with the DZ.COM crowd (I was a little too busy seeking out certain people to jump with, as well as doing jumps gear towards breaking a bad habit that Omar uncovered on my jump with him). But my Eloy Holiday Boogie '03 experience was awesome. I made 75 jumps, had my first reserve ride, participated in numerous fun tracking dives and of course made many many many fun freefly jumps. Heck I even made two jumps with Alana and Melissa rodeoing myself and JTVal with Omar trying to hang from us. Good times were had by this camper. 8. This is so sad. Here I was at the Eloy Holiday Boogie having the time of my life not knowing a thing about what was happening in the world, and then I see this thread. Blue Skies Kat69. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  9. You were only there for six days? Who would have thunk it? You rocked on those tracking dive Theresa. But just wait until next year. 15 Days (was semi-weathered out on numerous days), 75 jumps, my first (beer) reserve ride, a couple of awesome skydives with Omar and Greg, many many many fun tracking dives and a whole lot more. I learned so much on this trip it was great and met so many cool people. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  10. There were many firsts (my brain is too clogged to remember them all right now), but one first which must stand out was my first reserve ride (yes beer was bought). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  11. Maybe Sangiro should setup that "Sunshine Only" forum that he talked about last year. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  12. Is that sunshine or sunnydee123 you talk of? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  13. I'm more afraid that some DZ.COMer will introduce themselves to me with their screen name and I'll say "who"? As far as meeting people, there will be a steady stream of people coming and going from the DZ.COM tent all day long each and every day of the boogie. I think it'll be hard not to meet new people. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  14. I would heed Derek's advice on not loading a canopy too high that you plan on using during birdman jumps. As for skipping sizes, I recently skipped 1/2 a size. I went from a Sabre2 170 to a Crossfire2 139. But in the future I could see myself only downsizing in 1/2 size increments (going from a 139 to a 129 to a 119 to maybe a 109). Once we start getting up there in the high wing loading categories, I would think that baby steps are the key to survival under each new canopy. Don't bite off more than you can chew, but please don't let some of us stop you from chewing. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  15. Sweet!!! I'll try and download last night's episode. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  16. Some people at work were telling me about it and it sounded hilarious. Unfortunately I was playing volleyball last night and missed it. So can anyone tell me if the repeat episode is shown on Saturday or Sunday? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  17. It's only starting to dawn on me that in about 52 hours or so, I'll be in Eloy for two weeks. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  18. Same to you, except I'll be in Eloy during the holidays. So you won't see my ugly mug at the DZ until sometime in early January. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  19. That sucks. Hey I should get you a copy of my movie (it's been in post production since September) and it turned out very well (six songs and twenty five minutes long). I likely would have given you a copy had I seen you at the DZ, but now I know why I haven't seen you. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  20. If memory serves me correct, the unknown person on that dive was Eric (from Cheyenne or was that Laramie WY). Man it seems like that skydive was done ages ago (early September was it?). I haven't seen you at the DZ in ages. What's new? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  21. It looks like myself and two other people will be arriving in Eloy Saturday afternoon (probably not in time to jump). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  22. The best concert to date which I have seen was Pink Floyd in Edmonton's Commonwealth Stadium (an outdoor venue) back in '95. It rocked. I also got to see Stevie Ray Vahnn (sp?) up close and personal in a small bar setting back in the early 80's, but the Pink Floyd show still tops my list of concerts. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  23. I have to survive the Eloy Holiday Boogie first (the alcohol poisoning aspect), but put me down as a "maybe" for the Mardi Gras Boogie. If I can find the $$$ and can convince the whuffo boss to give me a long weekend off (hey I scored a major victory getting two weeks of this holiday season), I'll be there. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  24. You may be on to something here. The same thing applies to when you take a dump right? Seriously, I wouldn't jump on the same day I gave blood. But I'd likely be up there the next day. I mean, it's not all thay different than jumping the morning after the night before. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  25. So how's this going to work. We get to smack you every time we see you? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
