  1. I believe SkymonkeyOne is saying that he's available to travel to different DZs and speak to people about canopy control courses (and he's obviously very much qualified to do so what with him being on the PST). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  2. Regardless of whatever policies may or may not have been in place. The demo jump during the Super Bowl yesterday was a series of BASE jumps made by four (or was it five) very experienced BASE jumpers. The general public likely has no idea, but I think yesterday's events was a positive thing for the BASE community. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  3. Not that my sources are 100% correct. But I've been told that the King Air in Titusville is faster (not by much) than Mullins' King Air. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  4. Americans have much to be proud of, but this country is far from perfect (I doubt there is a perfect country out there). Part of what makes America great is it's free enterprise and part of what makes America bad is it's free enterprise (with the attitude by many that the almight dollar is to be worshiped). Recently a friend of mine (who happens to have a duel UK/US passport) told me that she prefers the European attitudes over the American as the Europeans are much less likely to walk over the next guy in order to get ahead. But from my experiences in my short 40 years of life, America is the land of opportunity. It's just too bad that so many people think that opportunity and money are the same thing. Also, America is likely NOT a good place to be if you are poor (but I wouldn't know what really being poor means ... at least not yet). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  5. It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air as opposed to being in the air wishing you were on the ground. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  6. I never thought to ask him if they were going to get paid, but a couple of weekends ago when Jimmy was telling us about the jump he specifically mentioned that he hoped that nobody would mess up. I mean BASE already has a bad image with many people and it doesn't need another black eye. But that's why they only invited some qualified people to make that jump. 7. No what looks gay is when a bunch of people funnel a simple exit, and they're on their bellies ... poke poke jab Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  8. I'm likely not qualified yet, but in the future I would like to be a canopy control coach and it would be nice to see the USPA add this rating (if that's what you want to call it) to their collection of coaching ratings. I don't think it should be too expensive on the student and it would be nice if some sort of standard was set across the country. But before I start saying that I can be coach, maybe I should spend sometime with the Scott Millers of this world (I have taken a canopy control course from Hooknswoop around this time last year, but I am a different skydiver than I was back then). 9. To add to the comments made already, freestyle (the stuff that Betsy does) looks great when a woman does it. But it looks gay when it's a man doing it. And freeflying is just a gender neutral thing-a-ma-bob. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  10. Nice swoops ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  11. What a great video. I also liked the lyrics in the song. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  12. I voted Z-Hills but only because Sebastian was not on the list. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  13. The entire band was wearing Vertex containers from Basic Research. I was under the impression that Jimmy, Marta and the others were going to jump dressed like the band members (to make everyone think it was Aerosmith jumping), but the plan must have changed along the way. The reason why I say this is because a couple of weekends ago while in Moab, Jimmy told us about the jump but also told us to keep quiet. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  14. Thanks for the info. I'll look into to doing this conversion tomorrow. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  15. The software I currently use to make my movie(s) doesn't allow me to create WMV files. But I guess I can use some other software to convert the MPEG file into a WMV. I recently had a hell of a time converting a WMV file into a AVI file. But in the end I did what I set out to do (which was to retrieve the video feed of this WMV file). By the way, I use VideoStudio version 7.x from ULead and it does the job. But it's far from perfect. I'm tempted to contact ULead and tell them what I like and don't like about their product. But then again, I'm not sure it's worth the effort. They likely didn't have people like myself in mind (using many many 1-5 second long clips throughout a movie) when they wrote their software. 16. Totally, but what do you expect? They're Whuffos. Unfortunately camcorders were not allowed into the stadium. So any additional coverage is going to have to come from the jumpers or support crew. A fellow I work with is a big Pats fan and was at the game. And because Jimmy told us about this planned jump a couple of weeks ago while we were in Moab, I told my work colleague to watch out for it. So it'll be interesting to get his views of the whole deal. But he is a whuffo as well. Don't quote me, but I believe they used static-lines. 17. Hmmm ... maybe this should be a PM? Anyway, I have just completed a video of my Eloy Holiday Boogie experience (the mpeg version is 74 MB and the AVI is 1.5 Gig). But skydivingmovies.com isn't up and available for me to post it to? If not, I will ask someone at work if I can host it from there. Otherwise I will have to try and find somewhere else to host it. But it really is worth watching. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  18. I was a licensed private pilot before I became a skydiver and I hate to say it, but I haven't been at the controls of an airplane since May of '03. Both disciplines are ultra expensive and I chose skydiving over flying because I enjoy flying my canopy more than flying an airplane. But I do have to say that I have about 10 solo hours of mountain flight here in Colorado and those were the best hours of flying I've done to date. Airplane Ratings: Private Pilots Certificate, 170 hours and over 400 landings. Skydiving: D License and 575 jumps (all since July 14th, 2002). 19. I agree, there's not much to see. But I did record it on my VCR and it appeared that four people jumped (I knew one of them was going to be Jimmy as he told us a couple of weeks ago that he would be jumping. But I didn't know Marta was one of the others). The way Jimmy described it to us, they were supposed to pretend that they were Aerosmith (hence the reason my the band was wearing BR containers). But I guess the WX and the roof being closed had some influence. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

  21. Holy cow ... I finally found something to agree with you on. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  22. I know nothing ... at least that is the offical line. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  23. We're both talking about the same entrance. I just wish I knew when it was? 10 minutes before the game? 30 minutes? 2 hours? 4 hours? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  24. Well there's pre-game (the one which happens before the game starts) and then there's pre-game (the that happens hours before the game starts because the TV networks and zombies who's rely on the networks have nothing better to do with their time). Which pre-game will it be? My source couldn't/wouldn't tell me. I guess I'll just have to program the VCR several hours ahead of time to be safe. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  25. I know of a certain person who's going to be involved in this pre-game and he told us we needed to watch it. Any idea as to when in the pre-game it'll happen? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
