I fly an Icarus Omega 195. This was my first canopy off of student status, and I currently have about 130 + jumps on it and haven't gotten bored with it yet. I can say that I've really enjoyed it, super soft openings, zippy, but safe flight, I don't think you could ask for more. You might talk to your instructors and get opinions from them, as they have seen your piloting first-hand, and can probably give some sage advice. Congrats on your grad, now get out and have some fun . Matt A well-informed person is somebody who has the same views and opinions as yours.

HEY, I could teach those courses, thank you very much. If any doubt, ask the misses... Matt A well-informed person is somebody who has the same views and opinions as yours.

No slam from me, actually I think it is a good idea. Although being burnt out on anything isn't too cool, I wish I was jumping enough to risk getting burn out. Matt A well-informed person is somebody who has the same views and opinions as yours.

....uuuuuuuu, I don't think that was a dream, was it? Matt A well-informed person is somebody who has the same views and opinions as yours.

Mine started today...and will probably continue until next summer. It starts when all the teachers start coming back to get ready for the school year. Then my job tends to switch from network administration to end user support. Not that I don't give a poop, but, I hate having to baby folks along. I tell them to try and figure it on their own, then when something breaks, call me . Matt A well-informed person is somebody who has the same views and opinions as yours.

I would pay money to see a cat that looks like a bowling ball...seriously. I would pay even more to try and roll him. I thought that was ALL cats. Always thought of cats (and I had one that I thought was cool) as glorified paper weights. Matt A well-informed person is somebody who has the same views and opinions as yours.

..or, you know when you go to a boogie, and they say, "sign up for the raffle...we're giving away free jumps." Matt A well-informed person is somebody who has the same views and opinions as yours.

That looks like fun...anyone know where I can find one of those in Texas? More importantly, does anyone know of one in Texas that would actually have WATER to jump into during the summer? Matt A well-informed person is somebody who has the same views and opinions as yours.

That guy must have bought the 'discounted' jump ticket

Didn't see the show, but have seen enough interviews with her to know that there 'just ain't something right' about her. You know the saying about 'a sack of hammers'? But, with 80 mil, I guess you can be as goofy as you want and not care. Matt A well-informed person is somebody who has the same views and opinions as yours.

I would love a pair of Oakley's, as I have owned a pair in the past, and really enjoyed them. But, they fall into that category of an item that I compare the cost against how many jump tix I could buy instead. Hmmm, if I had $120, will that be one pair of oaks, or 5 to 6 jumps? For now, I have a cheap pair of OPs. Matt A well-informed person is somebody who has the same views and opinions as yours.

Ouch...hostility! Sure is a lot of estrogen in this thread!

I'm not necessarily buying into that.... Matt A well-informed person is somebody who has the same views and opinions as yours.

I live right between my home dz, which is an all cessna dz, and a larger dz with an otter, caravan etc. I have a theory that dzs with small planes tend to be a bit friendlier because if you plan on doing any type of formation, you will probably need everyone who is on the plane to do it. Basically, if you are jumping an Otter, Caravan etc (larger dz, lots of turn around), you have the liberty to pick the group you want, organize everyone (to get on the same load that is), and then jump together. Small dzs, it's usually, whoever manifests first goes - so, you make a group out of whoever is on the load. You really can't be too 'click-ish' at a cessna dz, and I've enjoyed that. At least, that's been my experience. Matt A well-informed person is somebody who has the same views and opinions as yours.

I'm totally with you on this as well...that's been my role in the family. I've always been the long-haired, hippie (so to speak) in a family of short-haired, cowboys (almost literally). The rest of my family likes to hear the stories, and ask questions about skydiving, so that part is cool. Actually, my Dad was pretty cool about my first jump. When I told him about it, he said, 'well, some guys gotta try bull riding, and i guess other guys have to try jumping out of planes.' It was when I was telling him about the second jump, third jump ....that he began thinking that I must REALLY have a screw loose. I guess he thought I would try it, and think, 'cool, that was neat', then move on. hhhhmmmm, I wonder what he would think if he knew I was up to 180...might try bringing it up sometime. I literally haven't talked/said a word to my folks about skydiving in years. And if that is the way it will have to be, I'm okay with it. I would rather not have them worrying about me. Well put HH... My deepest sympathies and thoughts go to the family and friends of this person.... Also, my prayers and good vibes for safety to my skydiving brothers and sister, as well as the staff and spectators at the WFFC. Oh well, be glad that you can at least share some of your skydiving experience with your family, even if it isn't all happily received. I describe my relationship with my parents (only with skydiving) as a 'gays in the military' relationship - you know, 'don't ask, don't tell, don't pursue.' Anytime I bring it up, I get a huge look of worry, and a 'are you still doing that?' . Matt A well-informed person is somebody who has the same views and opinions as yours.

I live and work in a pretty small town, with a good sized muni ap, but not a lot of traffic coming in and out - at least not during the week. It's bad enough being stuck at work, looking at the beautiful blue sky and tall, fluffy clouds - having to watch planes come and go would really make for bummer of a day. Oh well, at least it's Friday. Maybe I can dig through the couch cushions tonight and find enough loose change for a jump or two. I bet this has come up before.... Anyone notice how once you become a 'rabid' skydiver anything that you consider purchasing (not skydiving related) is analyzed as 'hhhmmmm, for the cost of buying (insert non skydiving item here), I could buy 'X' amount of jump tickets.'? It's a real pain to be honest. Everytime I consider buying something that I could really USE, but not necessarily NEED, I think about how many jumps it's gonna cost me. Absolutely listen to your instructors, and soak up what they have to say and teach. I would say, don't be nervous, but you will be. Even if you are cool all the way, when the door opens, and you realize what you are about to do, you will get nervous. But it is the coolest feeling in the world. Just concentrate on the task at hand, but enjoy every awesome moment of it. Welcome to the sky....

Unfortunately, the closest I have lived to a DZ is about 20 miles, and that was only for 5 months. My average is probably around 40 miles, and currently I live 60 miles (one way) to a dz, (not my home dz...I live around 70 miles from it)...I need to learn to fly (which I plan on this fall). I rarely stay at the dz, but from time to time I do. Never have been much of a party-er , but I like to hang out and visit with folks . Currently, the drive home is a real pain, but my in-laws live half way, sooo...my wife can visit with the fam, and I can make multiple trips to the dz.

It is a seven level program - if you are good. Most of us take an extra level or two. Either way, it's all good... Matt A well-informed person is somebody who has the same views and opinions as yours.
