Hey BK if you didn't pitch at .0001 seconds after you jumped there wouldn't be a hesi. Bryan Ody
-
Other that freezing PC's I don't see any reason for a PC hesi due to cold weather. To me, I think the PC would perform better in the cold. The air is more dense in cold weather. The air molocules are closer together. Thats more molocules for the PC to grab. The same thing applys to flying your canopy. The colder it is, the better the performance. I also pull my PC out like Chad. Right before I leave to go to an object I pull out my PC check it and repack it. Bryan Ody

Chad, The 230 was NOT a standard PC. The rest was WITH a standard PC. Bryan Ody

well as I stated. The jumps I have seen are with varying delays. From half a second to 2 seconds. Obviously 2 seconds is good for a 42". I have seen the 42" work just as well as a 46/48" on a half second and second delays. Wouldn't there be a less chance of pilot chute hesitation with going stowed with a 42 instead of stowed with a 46/48 on shorted delays? Bryan Ody

I have seen multiple jumps of people jumping a 42" PC from 330' to as low as 230' with very good results. Both stowed and hand held. Yet, every base manufacture says that you need a 48"/46". After seeing the success of a 42" from those varying altitudes with varied delays as well; my question is why not use the 42" everytime? Especially when going stowed from those lower altitudes. To me is makes more sense to use a 42". It is easier to go stowed and there is less material to open up and grab air. What some other jumpers thoughts on this? Bryan Ody

Quote I just saw a base jumping vid from skydivingmovies (my_best_movie_yet) I heard that it was a pretty good movie. The first one I made. I hope you enjoyed it. Bryan P.S. I still say "canopy"

Hey Tony, just thought of a new name for you.... 2 second Tony. Has a nice ring to it, don't you think. Bryan Ody

Well I will be moving to Southeastern Alabama in April. Ft. Rucker to be exact. I won't be able to jump for my first 8 weeks. Damn OCS getting in the way. After that I am up for anything in the Northern Florida and Alabama area. I'll jump something like that anytime. Bryan Ohio

I personnally could never leave anyone behind. Being in the military has made that resenate in my mind more. I will take the arrest, fines, and court. I can make more money, I can not however replace my concious. I will always stay and help however I can. Bryan

Jamie, Glad to hear you are alright. That is pretty wicked. I bet that body armor helped a lot. I would guess you hit the ground pretty damn hard. I should be out of this damn country by the end of the month. Hopefully we can get some jumps in again. It's always a blast hanging out. You also have a high honor now....FIRST JOHNNY UTAH BASE COURSE GRADUATE TO GET INJURED. Well hope you heal up well and look foreward to sharing a beer. Bryan

BUSAUNIT, One of your first points in this discussion was that you were an Aussie. Well... I work with aussie's over here quite often. Are they baby killers as well? I think this topic is getting quite old. I am over your ignorance. My intention is not to get into wether or not the war is right or wrong. That isn't my job to decide. My job is to do whatever the president tells me. It could be go to Iraq, or help in Louisiana, or anything else. I don't get to pick and choose my assignments. Regardless of what my duty assignment is, soldiers, sailers, and marines deserve the support of their country. You don't just pick and choose when to support those people to defend your country. You either back them or you don't. Obviously you don't back them. Why not move to a country that doesn't have a govt. or the freedoms you enjoy. Or come here for a while. I bet you will change your opinion of the military real fast. You still might disagree with the war and that is your god given right. Anyone can disagree with the war. I don't care, but the whole meaning here is to support those people that support you no matter what. Bryan J Ody U.S. Army Iraq

This is off topic, but I find busaunit's post quite offensive. While most of the US probably disagrees with the war in Iraq, they still support the troops. Calling the U.S. servicemen and women baby killers is extremely offensive to the men and women in uniform. The soldiers, sailors, and marines that put their lives on the line deserve better than to be called "baby killers". I would put money that every service member that is helping with hurricane relief has already served in Iraq or Afganistan at least once. Right now they are currently saving lives stateside be helping with the evacuation. Do you not want those "baby killers" to pull people from the water or families off the roofs of their flooded homes? Or would you rather no one served? WE are servicemembers who VOLUNTEERED to serve our country and WE do it proudly. Remember, my service entitles you to that opinion you have of the servicemembers that support and defend the Constitution of the United States and YOUR safety. I can say all this under my screen name as well. I didn't have to make up a new one to express my opinion. Bryan J Ody U.S. Army Iraq

I pretty sure that there arn't any jumpers in Australia. Why would anyone want to jump there? I don't even think there is a jumpable object on the whole continent. Unchartered territory. Maybe some people should get together and take a trip down under to see if there is anything jumpable. Bryan

I think what Ryan is getting at is this... I have heard him and one other person discuss a possible container lock. He was saying that by priming the pins so far that the tips of the pins may lock inside the grommets while still through the closing loop causing a possible bag lock. I say if you think it can happen, don't prime your pins that far. I normally prime my pins half way when jumping slider down. Probably never makes a difference, but it makes me feel better. Oh yea and Ryan look forward to getting home and hitting some objects up. I'll climb in the winter, are you up for it? Bryan Bryan

I have done 1 tard from the potato bridge. it was too windy to do a rollover. I opened with a 180. Tom was on the bridge at the time and told me that as soon as the canopy left my hand the wind took it and twisted it 180. In respsonse to lower rollovers. I did a rollover off of a 175' billboard. I had a good 5 or 6 seconds of canopy time. jamie from twin and peterk saw that one. you can always ask them how it looked from the ground. Bryan BASE 943

Actually, you would be surprised how many americans are in that area. Pretty much all KBR military contracted employees in the middle east go there for R&R. The building is in the city of Dubia and is the worlds only 6 or 7 star hotel. Good luck getting in. I have heard that the only way in the front door is in the hotels private vehicals that pick you up. But if your into the hooker thing that city is apperently the place to go. Bryan

Alright, as some of you may know I am currently in Iraq. Recently I travelled south to the country of Qatar on business. I met up with another BASE jumper, Rich. He is stationed there. I would like to publicly thank him for his hospitality while I was down there. He drove to another post to come and pick me up and take me off post. Rich and his friends showed me a great time and I would like to publically thank him for a great time. Everytime I have traveled across the country or across the world in this case, other BASE jumpers have shown me the best hospitality. I think it is the greatest community around. Not only that, a small one as well. Here I am at war and I hook up with another american jumper with the same circle of friends. It is just the greatest thing. Attached are a few pics of us on the Persian Gulf. Thanks again Rich for a great time. Bryan Ody BASE 943 P.S. The shocker goes out to Peterk

around 25 objects 104 jumps. I don't have my log book around to count them all.
-
Hey Kmonster don't forget about your 10th jump. That could be added to the list. Bryan
-
That is the 4th BASE jumper that I am aware of that has come over here to Iraq. Bryan

I've recieved more scrapes and cuts getting to an exit point than actually jumping. Just ask Peterk how awesome I am at climbing fences. Bryan
