  6. It’s March Madness!!! Who wants to win some money and help out a worthy cause?!? I am running the Boston Marathon on April 18th as part of TEAM MR8 for the Martin Richard Foundation. Martin was the 8 year old boy killed in the 2013 terrorist bombing of the Boston Marathon. 16. I have about 125 to 130 jumps on a flick and about 100 on a blackjack. All in the base environment. I think the blackjack is the better canopy. It flares better, sinks in better, stall recovery ins better, and flies better in my opinion. I have never flown a flik with zp. Both my blackjacks have zp for the front 1/3. I did my first jumps on the fox v-tech and thought it rocked. Then. I jumped a flick and thought that rocked. Then I jumped the blackjack and relized I had never flown a great canopy until then. The Flik is a great canopy that treated me nicely. However the blackjack out performs the flik in every aspect. In my opinion. The service through asylum I think is much better than the other also. Martin and Chad take the time to talk to you about everyone of your concerns. I didn't have that experience through any other base manufacture. Asylum rocks. Bryan P.S. I havn't jumped anything else besides a fox v-teh, flik, and blackjack, so figure out whats best for you.
  17. Basic is something I will never forget. Remember... The drill instuctors are people too. Don't be afraid of them, just respect them and you'll do fine. Hope you like running. Bryan

    Wich one?

[reply. This is very, very true. Let me add that there are a large number of those people who basically think that whatever they've always jumped is the best--without really trying anything else. I can't count the number of people who I've met who would swear that their Blackjack/Troll/Flik/Dagger was "the best canopy made" but when pressed, admitted that they had never really jumped anything else. They bought a particular canopy because that's what their friend/mentor/instructor had, and then they decided it was "the best". The funny thing is that the friend/mentor/instructor often did exactly the same thing, so we see "generations" of jumpers who jump whatever their "forefathers" jumped, with none of those generations ever trying a different set of gear. That is how I purchased my first canopy. My first jumps were on a vented fox. That is what my home crew had. Therefore I purchased BR gear, a FLIK and Vertex. After about 100 jumps I was able to make a few jumps on a blackjack and was truly amazed. I my opinion it was just a way better canopy and then I saw the PPRO.... An amazing container. I still think the FLIK is a good canopy, but just like the Blackjack better. I then purchased Asylum and don't see a reason to ever switch. What is funny is that my home crew is now buying Asylum after I let them jump my blackjack. I think that shows what might be the BETTER canopy per say. All of the locals in my area have at least 100 jumps or up to around 300 and have always had BR/APEX gear. Now they are starting to phase to Asylum. Hope that helps. Bryan
  19. congrats Ray. and happy b-day Abbie. Hey Abbie, since its your birthday you don't have to bite the pillow tonight. Bryan
  20. full floater you will want to exit slightly head high. In my experience. Side floater is like a regular exit. Just focus on a point and shove off. P.S. Waiving your arms in fear won't help your body position. Bryan
