What is a canopy? I jump with a CHUTE. andI think the red makes is fly better than blue.

Based on your jump numbers posted, I would assume you are a rigger or know your shit. If you do have great knowledge on rigging than your question should answer itself. Take what you like from the manufactures and make it your own. I love Asylum... their containers and canopies are amazing. If you think you can do better....make it. Bryan

I have approx. 100 jumps on blackjacks with the zp topskin and have never experienced more that a 90 degree off heading slider down and I only remember that happening once. About 90 percent of my jumps are within 5 degrees of perfect on headings. In my exoerience the ZP does not increase the number of off headings. I have never jumped a blackjack without the zp. hope that helps. Bryan

big mesh--small mesh slider question @ 1100 to 1300 feet
Bryguy1224 replied to worldsocold's topic in Archive
I never use a large mesh. Always use my small mesh. Did it at bridge day and as low as 650. I know people that take a small mesh on the bridge in Idaho. So there shouldn't be a problem with using either one. Both will work just fine. Bryan -
One thing to consider. Climbing out is not a very good idea during the winter. The cliff face is covered in ice and slipping off would really suck. Hiking out is the best option and checking out the frozen waterfalls in the winter is awesome. Bryan

It is still possible for you to get a private pilots certificate, but you have to report it to the FAA. Also, if you plan on pursuing your flight career any further, good luck getting a job if you have a DUI. It won't happen. A DUI is death for any commercial pilot. Bryan

I know that if you are part of the Golden Knights parachute team: you are specifically banned from BASE activities. Bryan -
Make about 300 more skydives and get some rigging experience and your questions will answer themselves. I know that 200 is the suggested minumum, but in todays standards anyone can make 200 jumps no problem and not learn a thing. If you learn more about rigging in general you wouldn't have had to make this post. In my opinion having a larger knowlege in rigging and how it works will take you farther in the sport. Obviously canopy skills are really important as well, but base isn't like skydiving. You don't have a rigger looking at your gear every 120 days and fixing the problems. You need to be able to find the problems yourself. This is a little off subject, but the question is a rigging question and that is why I bring eveything else up.... plus I have had a few drinks. Have fun in your experience and don't rush it. BASE isn't going away. Talk to your local rigger and learn everything you can. Then when you start to make BASE jumps you will have the knowledge you need to survive. ( and it still isn't enough) Bryan Base 943

When it comes to F-111 material the only problem i have heard of or seen is extra wear and tear due to wetness. Bridge day is a great example of why wet canopy's won't kill you. There are 100 or more soaked canopy's being jumped every year without incident. The only bad thing is the expansion of the stitching when it gets wet and the shrinkage when it dries. This can start to make you canopy asymmetric. After 50 or so water jumps in might be a problem. Just don't hand your canopy out to dry in the sun and that problem can be minimalized. But on the skydiving side of things I would worry about mold growing inside the reserve why it was left packed and wet sitting in your closet at home. That could cause a serious problem. Then I would definetly pull it out to dry and repack. If my base rig ever got soaked while it was packed I would unpack it and let it dry out. If I made a water landing at bridge day I would pack it right up and jump again, but at the end of the day I would let it hang and dry out of the sun. Bryan Bryan

After seeing what happened to Jason, and what little injuries he sustained, considering what happened, I would purchase Dainese equipment. If Jason wasn't wearing it he would be dead...Enough said. That sells it in my mind. I have never worn body armor, but I have heard nothing but good things about Dainese and I have scene first hand the LIFE SAVING characteristics of Dainese equipment. BUY DAINESE. Bryan BASE 943

line twists on High performance canopies
Bryguy1224 replied to Bryguy1224's topic in Wing Suit Flying
The canopy was diving and spinning. I was spinning on my back quite violently. Yes I had ground briefings before I jumped the suit and I jumped with an instructor on the first jump. My second jump ( the cutaway ) was a solo. I had a few twists on my first jump as well. After I landed under my reserve someone said that jumping a vengence wasn't a good idea with a wingsuit. -
line twists on High performance canopies
Bryguy1224 replied to Bryguy1224's topic in Wing Suit Flying
I made my first two wingsuit flights today on a GTi. They were amazing. I had a blast. However, I got line twists on both jumps. The second resulting in a cutaway. When I pulled on both jumps I clapsed my winds waited about 2 to 3 seconds and pitched. I am jumping a Vengence 120 at about a 1.5 or 1.6 wingloading. I have never gotten line twists before and wondered what is the best way to protect against the problem without buying a new container with dynamic corners. I am guessing shutting it down for a longer time period. Any other suggestions? Bryan Ody -
I have seen a person with that setup have trouble releasing their toggles. He got is loose but pounded in. He was yanking on his left toggle so hard it was distorting the canopy and it just wouldn't release. Just drop the 30 or 40 bucks and get standard toggles. Bryan Ody
