  1. WTF. 150 pounds about the weight of a mature Doe in my neck of the woods. Sure we have monster bucks that go well over 200 but that is hardley the norm, and Doe's far outnumber Bucks. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  2. 13.2 Planets. That is not counting all the fuel I burn in my Ski Boat every season. The good thing is that I am very active in preaching about saving the planet. Hopefully I can get enough people to change their habits to make up for mine. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  3. Oh quit it already. He does not care if you use a "traditional" semi- autoloader. Just not the ugly ones. Who defines traditional? Using an "evil looking" semi vs. a pretty "traditional" semi-auto is not like fishing with dynamite. It's like fishing with an "evil"looking fishing pole (assault fishing pole?) Why is there any less sport because some think your gun is evil looking? That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  4. You have the right to agree but make sure you understand his point. He thinks weapons that "look" ugly should be banned from the woods. This is about looks plain and simple. He goes on to say "If you insist on using an auto, there are plenty of sporting models that have more than enough firepower for game." So he is fine with you using a Remington 740 Semi because afterall they have wood stocks and do not look scary. Nevermind it is a much more powerfull weapon than an AR-15. The Reminton 740/742 is one of the common semi auto's used to hunt. While it looks traditional, it takes a detachable mag and there are companies out there that make high cap mags for it(they usually come with a 4 round mag). So do you agree because you don't think there should be any "ugly" rifles in the woods. How do you feel about composite stocks? Say a Savage FP10 with a bipod on it? These are extremely accurate bolt action "sniper rifles" that look scary. Is it just wood stocks you want to see, or does it have to be a certain grade of wood? Only high grade walnut? It is a good thing ugly canopies are not banned because I own several! That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  5. A couple examples I shoot several deer every year and the last two years I harvested multiple deer in a second’s time. Two years ago I found two does walking through the woods and had a small window to shoot. I waited for the deer to both step into an opening and took them both with two quick shots. This last year, after I had passed up several smaller buck early in the season, I was not getting any more acceptable shots to take. This changed Thanksgiving Day when I was two deer that were spooked running through the woods. When they came out into an opening I took them again in a one/two fashion. The second one dropped in its tracks while the first deer ran another 70 yards before going down. 20 minutes before I heard two quick consecutive shots in the direction I knew my dad was hunting. I tried to get him on the radio to see if he needed help but fortunately for me we had our channels mixed up. When I ran into him an hour later he asked where the hell I had been as he had two deer down and was looking for me to help him with one. He actually shot the second one for me because he knew I was looking for more meat. We harvested four deer in twenty minutes. There are a lot of elderly people that hunt with Semi’s for the recoil reduction. I bought my (at the time) unborn son a 20 ga. Semi for the same reason. I shot around 30 birds last year. After being in multiple situations with multiple grouse flushing at one time I switched to using my sons semi. (I did not think he would mind and you have to make sure a firearm has all the kinks worked out before giving it to your child) I harvested four grouse in about 3- 4 seconds in a wooded area the next weekend. Not a chance that would happen with an O/U. Not that anyone should need to have justification to hunt with a semi, but do you need any more? 6. Just to put this in perspective of how much a tax this really is... I went to the range two weeks ago and picked up 700 rounds on the way. I had plenty of .45 so I bought a WWB Value pack(100) of 9MM, and a Federal Value Pack(500) of .22, plus two 50 cnt. boxes of Federal Champion .22. ( Just put together a new 10-22) Total cost on this was around $26.50 including tax. ($12+$9+2x$2). The proposed .50 cent tax would add on $350 to the purchase. I can not see how anyone would continue to purchase ammo in that area and would think it would cost the city tax revenue.(not very much). 7. Are you claiming the BG was a CCW holder? If not what are you saying? That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  8. Just for the record I don't feel I need a weapon to be safe. I do like to own and shoot them though. I will be buying my next one in a few weeks. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  9. Oklahoma city bombing killed over 160 people with the illegal use of a Vehicle. 19 children. If it is all about the children, then over here in the states we would be better off banning auto's and swimming pools. Both of these kill more kids than guns. Guns in the US actually save a lot of lives also. Unlike cars, pools, alcohol. I meAn if we can just save one child it is worth it. How many children have to die before we ban swimming? How many is justified? That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  10. If it's just the children you are worried about, why not fight to ban what kills most of them. Firearms are not at the top of the list. Far more children drown each year, many in swimming pools. Shouldn't we start there. How about all the children killed in auto accidents? Pools and cars don't save alot of lives. Guns do. There are a lot of things that kill a lot of people. Booze? How many people are killed by booze. How many use it to protect themselves from violence. If it is just about that one life you keep reffering too, there are plenty of things that will save it without costing another one. 11. I almost forgot another advantage for a laser. If ever needed, the red dot on ones chest very possibly could be the difference between someone backing off of continuing the threat. It has to be imtimidating. As is racking the slide on a pump shotgun. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  12. I have the streamlight M3. Probably the one your refering too. I think I paid over $100 but I did not buy it online. As far as lasers I could not disagree more. Not for an experienced shooter anyway. I have said it many times over to many people that a novice should not buy a laser. I disagree with seasoned shooters though. If you are dumb enough to train with the laser instead of the sights, that is your(not calling you out) problem, not the lasers. I do almost all my shooting with the sights. I do shoot a couple groups with the laser at a range session and they are always very tight. I don't see the need for a good shooter to spend much time shooting with the laser. But again I disagree because I can't see them hurting my shooting performance one bit. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  13. off topic but does anyone have any experiance with Lasermax lasers? I have the Crimson Trace grips on my Sig 226 and I like them very much. I wondered if anyone had used the guide rod type on a 1911. My 1911 has a rail so I could use a light/laser combo. I don't really need them either way as I have night sights, but the novelty is fun. 14. You have nothing to worry about. Kelpdiver said clearly the very strict anti-2nd laws are just a nuisance They are really not that big of deal. I have several firearms that are not legal in Cali. Just a nuisance though? That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  15. For the record in this case the parents taught this kid plenty. I would have let him clean my guns anytime, and I would let him retrieve them loaded. The safty course added to his training and is a requirement to purchase a hunting license. It was a Hunters Safety Course. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! 16. No, I never said anything close to that. You are having comprehension problems. I also do not know many people that feel the drinking age should be 21. I had a beer from my dad well before that. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  17. I don't see the correlation? There is no minimum age for shotgun and rifle ownership in the US(Federal anyway) My Brother in Law was giving a new 300 Ultra Short Mag when he passed hunter safety at 11. He put this in his safe with his other firearms, including semi-auto shotguns. My Friend's son just shot his first Whitetail at six. His older brother at 10 has shot a couple deer a year for the last several as well as coyotes and turkeys. All this with his very own rifle.(and his dads shotgun). I bought a brand new semi-auto to give my child when he is old enough. While I see no problem with any of this, I do see a problem with allowing young people to drink. Now while I do feel the drinking age should be lowered, I also realize that alcohol causes many, many more problems than firearm ownership. And beyond that it (alcohol consumption) is not protected by the constitution That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  18. 20 year olds can not be good citizens?. I know 12 year olds that own semi's. My brother in law could kick most peoples ass in a round of sporting clays or trap at 12. His little shoulder would suffer if he had to do that with a pump. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  19. I can remember a thread a while back where you where putting down hunting in the midwest because we don't have the variety of game you do out there. I shoot and eat several deer every year so this would be a major problem for me. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  20. Boy that's easy. I'll start it off with the 2nd Amendment. Severly compromised in Kalifornia That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  21. Barack is a Senator in my state. It is well known that he is for a complete ban of Semi-Automatic firearms. I would like to be able to like the guy but ... That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  22. And for a damm good reason. Do you have any idea of the legislation that is trying to be pushed through the Illinois house this spring session? If it passes it will force several manufacturers to leave the state and will require many types of firearms to be removed from the state or destroyed within 90 days. And that is just part of it That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  23. It is used for waterfowl hunting. You can not use lead because of fear of it contaminating the water. Steel shot is not nearly as dense as lead. Tungsten is closer to the density of lead but still non-toxic. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  24. You should have no problem in IN. I live far on the opposite side from you, but I am in MI now. I travel though all the time. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  25. Do you need me to pick some up for you? I could pick some up tommorow I think. You are not going to be able to purchase any in IL without a FOID card or out of state DL. I don't think there is any problem with you possesing it though. I would have to check on that though. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue!
