Besides water? Currently a big fan of the coconut-lime low-sugar Slurpee at 7-11 in my area. Only 16 calories per 200ml or so. Other than that I drink low-sugar Solo (an Australian lemon soft drink), Coke Zero and Red Bull Zero. Oh, and Oak (chocolate milk) with no added sugar, same calories as low-fat milk :) cavete terrae.

Not a bloody chance Actually I've got a question: Do the people who build structures over there have as little sense as they do here? It's like they thought air conditioning was a fad and wouldn't catch on, so almost no homes have central AC, but some have the big ugly aftermarket ones in the wall. cavete terrae.

I don't exactly miss snow, but I miss skiing back home. I also miss white Christmases and stuff like that, even though I'm a Christmas-hating grinch. cavete terrae.

Yeah but at least in Sandy Eggo you've got Rei do Gado… oh god… now I'm hungry… cavete terrae.

You'll enjoy packing tandems a hell of a lot more in 73 than you would in 112. Ain't that the truth! cavete terrae.

Wowza, that's a fun one. Just a few weeks ago at a local DZ I got smacked by a dust devil on landing, that was a new experience for me that I'm not keen to repeat. Relatively straight-in approach (front riser 90 to final, but at an altitude where I was back to normal glide speed for landing), and right before touching down I got picked up and thrown a few metres to the left. Doesn't take a crazy canopy to get caught out, if the winds and turbulence get weird there's no shame in stepping down. cavete terrae.

110°F here, leaving work in about an hour to ride the bicycle home. I told myself last week that I'd ride all 5 days "come hell or high water", and I appear to have gotten the former. Highs this week were 96, 112, 108, 110, and now 110 again. 73 tomorrow but I'll be packing tandems all day so I won't get to enjoy the cool weather much cavete terrae.

I support the right for any combination of consenting adults to have registered domestic unions. I think marriage needs to be removed from government completely, and that said unions need to take the legal place of marriage. cavete terrae.

I've heard of 5 in a 182 and 6 in a 206 here in Australia, to both of which I say "fuck that". I "grew up" at a Cessna DZ and 4 in our 182 and 5 in our 206 seemed plenty tight and slow. Dude, you're a big boy - not a 100 lb Asian female. Of course you'd say f*ck that! I've been in several loads of a Turbo 206 w/ 7 that was still getting 600 ft / min, but that place has been gone for a few years now. ha! Fair call. The 182 at the DZ I sometimes hit up can push 800fpm, which amazes me. cavete terrae.

"Crime study: Handguns, not 'assault rifles,' used in most mass shootings"
grue replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
Might have something to do with having to fight for independence from oppression. The UK is a police-run nanny state, and Australia is as well. MOSTLY similar crime rates in all three countries, but guns are part of American culture because without them the US would still have the Queen on the money. Those guns can allow Americans to have a dramatically higher homicide rate, but personally given the choice between a super politically correct bubble wrapped society of cowards, or a higher murder rate… I'll take the higher murder rate, honestly. That's not to say we shouldn't try and reduce the complete between-the-ears uselessness that causes people to do this shit, but the guns themselves aren't the problem. cavete terrae. -
Mostly quality settings. I used to work in film post and barely escaped with my sanity, but I also ended up as a picture quality nazi. That and it gives me better control over commentary tracks, muxed subtitles, etc. cavete terrae.

Decisions, decisions!! Yeah, the former just because while I have backups of everything, the effort of locating a replacement would annoy me. The latter because it took for. Fucking. EVER to rip all the DVDs and BluRays. Months. I could do it again but I'd rather not. cavete terrae.

Would you rather win a Hollywood award, or save a life?
grue replied to Boogers's topic in Speakers Corner
If this can be boiled down to "Would I rather be a successful actor, or a doctor", I'd choose actor. Less work, less responsibility, more fun, more money. If I can only choose between the award (and I can't sell it), or saving a life… maybe safe the life in hopes I can parlay into selling the story or something? I don't know. cavete terrae. -
I'd be torn between my desktop computer and my mediacenter's drive array. cavete terrae.

Gary Busey should reprise the role, but less calmly. I love that crazy bastard. The insane ones are always the best! cavete terrae.

Oh, don't rush to such conclusions. I can think of several people I would have travel to those places. Well, maybe not REALLY . . . but kinda fun to think about. Ok fair enough It's like that one way trip to mars: Yeah, I'd go, btu I've got a long list of people I'd send first cavete terrae.
