  1. According to the article the current rate is 1" per 4 years. That is increasing but useful for the purposes of the most conservative estimate. At that rate my girlfriend's 75 acre Chesapeake Bay property will a marshland by 2050 and underwater by 2100. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

OK, page 5 (you will need to rotate it clockwise): https://assets.documentcloud.org/documents/4210859/8-16-2017-AuditFYEnding2016.pdf The $419M is the organizations total expenditures for the year. I had also never seen data showing that the NRA was much of a cash cow as far as campaign finance goes. In fact what makes them so relevant is the bang for the buck that legislators get out of them. They're more of church than a company because of the almost religious adherence to the modern interpretation of the 2nd Amendment. This is probably also what made the group attractive to the Russians since once its members get an idea in their head they're almost fanatical about it. Take the Yeti cooler debacle, for example. So, I'm assuming the author is simply uninformed. In fact the reports from even the most leftist sources put the number at about $2500 including Torshin's $1000 lifetime membership. 3. Dammit! He said he doesn't need any advice! Oh, except for that advice. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  4. Let's see, Bush Sr. advises against regime change because there's no exit strategy. Bush Jr. ignores advice and changes regime. Bush Jr. agrees to pull-out and Obama follows through. Isis arrives. Obama holds off sending troops back in. Isis takes over and we have to go back in and retake places like Raqqa where the US lost service members. Now Trump agrees to pull-out. What do you all think is going to happen next? Maybe we should remember what we knew all along, that there's no exit strategy and stability in that region means a long term dedication once you've set it on fire. We supposedly have agreements from both Turkey and the Saudis that they'll take over the fight but now we have two countries with their own agendas and huge disregard for human rights when it comes to Kurds. The next flashpoint is that this brings them into another front in their proxy war with Iran on Iraq soil and you can guarantee that it'll soon blow out into the waters of the Gulf over shipping. So, my question is: Should we go ahead and cue up the Lee Greenwood music now or just leave it on repeat? "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  5. I would recommend getting the money in hand before booking anything. Everyone says they want to do a skydive, 1 in 50 actually show up. Add Vegas to that and..... "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  6. It'll be a very very very long time before anyone allies with us again after we've left so many allies in a power vacuum in which their old enemies and new ones swoop in to fill the void. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  7. I don't get it. He could just find a girl who is also into kinky shit and not have to pay $5k a night. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  8. It's very likely that this will lead to unrestricted warfare against the Kurds now that they're stuck between Turkey and a Russian backed Assad. We've essentially left our best ally against ISIS unprotected on the battlefield. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  9. Ever since I was kid we called it "the holidays" meaning the entire span from Thanksgiving through New Years encompassing Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and Hanukkah. This practice was shared by people I knew to be Christians and it wasn't meant as a secular slight towards Jesus, it was just descriptive language. Getting mad about not calling it "Christmas" is fairly petty. Since it's Friday I'm signing off most of my conversations with clients and vendors as "Ok, have a good holiday break" or "Happy Holidays" because we won't talk again until after the new year. It did cross my mind momentarily to wonder if anyone would think I was only saying that because it's the politically correct thing to do. 14. OTOH, Saturday Night Live casts Ben Stiller. I think Stiller more resembles Scaramucci in physical appearance. I would be there opening night to see Stiller in a movie as Scaramucci. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

  16. Remember people, this is how it starts when Marc posts. Begins with some easily recognized lies that you respond to. Then the downward spiral into vitriol. Yall know what to do. The lies are documented Obama and his crew pushed lies relentlessly. And you can not show any lie in that post. So that "Repeal Obamacare" thing Trump kept saying? Not a lie? 18. Yes, you're a semi-retired operations PM at an energy company. What I posted are the actual numbers for what is and isn't getting subsidies. The energy sector will always get subsidies. Nuke will definitely always get subsidies. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  19. Here's the actual breakdown of subsidy allocations: "Allocation of subsidies in the United States On March 13, 2013, Terry M. Dinan, senior advisor at the Congressional Budget Office, testified before the Subcommittee on Energy of the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology in the U.S. House of Representatives that federal energy tax subsidies would cost $16.4 billion that fiscal year, broken down as follows: Renewable energy: $7.3 billion (45 percent) Energy efficiency: $4.8 billion (29 percent) Fossil fuels: $3.2 billion (20 percent) Nuclear energy: $1.1 billion (7 percent) In addition, Dinan testified that the U.S. Department of Energy would spend an additional $3.4 billion on financial Support for energy technologies and energy efficiency, broken down as follows: Energy efficiency and renewable energy: $1.7 billion (51 percent) Nuclear energy: $0.7 billion (22 percent) Fossil energy research & development: $0.5 billion (15 percent) Advanced Research Projects Agency—Energy: $0.3 billion (8 percent) Electricity delivery and energy reliability: $0.1 billion (4 percent)" Everyone gets subsidies and all sources share the subsidies for energy efficiency, deliver, reliability, R&D, etc. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  20. Youngest woman elected to congress. I think she has already done more than most. Again, when Ryan was elected under very similar circumstances, it was lauded as a great accomplishment and a clear sign of his intellect. When a woman repeats this feat, she is ridiculed. Agreed. I think and hope she'll do just as well as him. From the perspective of an employer if I were in a situation where the two of them worked for me I would rather give them more time in the saddle before a promotion like that because sink or swim situations can backfire. I'm sure she'll have a tremendous amount of support. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  21. I am willing to pay a higher price for electricity but Germany has some of the highest usage taxes and fees in all of Europe, so no the US will not see 40ct/kWh. As it stands the cost of industrialized renewable power production in the US is projected to reduce the cost per kWh and this is empirically proven with historical data in the US. So...Do you want to keep paying more? Is that what you want? "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

  25. Yes. She has good marks but she's not seasoned, BU is a good school but that's still an undergrad education with no professional experience. I think she's very capable and her academics point to someone with a lot of potential but she's at the "fake it until you make it" stage. I'm sure she'll do fine, she just hasn't done anything yet.
