  1. Actually, in this case, you'd have been better off with a load of laundry in your reserve tray, then you wouldn't have had a two out. I don't have any advice for you. That's just...shit happens? "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  2. I might be over there on Sunday night. I'll be in town but don't think we're flying on Monday. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  3. Except that he could have taken out a camera man who flew a little steeper...that was hilarous. The guiltor just kept on flying his slot and the other guys was flying around "What do I do? What do I do?" "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  4. That made me curious so I checked out my recommendations. Guess which one made me spit out my coffee... 6. Come down to Skydive Virginia. We'll allow tag-alongs as long as the individual is current and competent. We'd prefer that you jump a few times with the local up jumpers to ensure you're not threat to life and liberty. Yes, 500 jumps, etc. but I've seen people with 500 jumps who most people refuse to jump with. I think we put together a very good tandem experience for students. While a lot of DZ's strap them in and throw them out, we have an hour long class with the jumpers followed up with a full dive-flow with each student in turn. If I'm there and jump with her I'd be happy to throw in stills for the "fellow-jumper" connection. See my profile for a link to the DZ homepage. 1.5 hrs. from Wash, D.C. i'm in virginia

We're (Skydive VA) having our Turbinator II party one of these next weekends as we get our King Air back flying after 2 years and move into the new (Um, unfinished) facilities. However, I can't offer a rig and our student gear is the big and bulky crap. Otherwise I recommend taking up Weegie's offer. West Point is closer but I don't know anyone there who posts here. Also, swing by Senor Iguana's (at the Witchduck exit off of 264) and tell the owner (Chris Wise - My college roommate) to put you on my tab. If he says, "Fuck you, that jackass owes me $100" then threaten to take off your clothing and strum jingle bells on your penis. Trust me! 8. The first scary CRW thing that happened to me was the same. Not a wrap, just getting a canopy deflated around me. Except I was hanging upside down in my harness to catch the dock with my hands. I made lots of squeeking noises and decided to spend the rest of the day hanging in the proper orientation. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  9. Also known as canopy deflation. I wouldn't call that a wrap. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  10. To repeat what I tacked onto my last post, it's more like common sense is being eroded than someone's right to protest; the common sense being that a person and their family should be given privacy and dignity. We protect the spirit of that document, not the pure legalism of it. That's what I see as the violation at this soldier's burial. These people are doing something that is calculated, mean, and rude. The concept is unique and new but just because someone didn't forsee this when they wrote about freedom of speech, doesn't mean it should not be specifically addressed. 11. Thus defining "disturbing the peace." They are doing something that could very easily escalate. No, I would never actually walk up and punch someone in the face...although I came close when I was at a burial at Arlington Cemetary and this lady answered her cell phone and started talking. Man, that fried my tits! So what that this event doesn't fall neatly into some existing law or comply completely with every tenet of our constitution. It's a unique situation and I don't think anyone here is going to stand at a funeral and be content that it's someone's right to cause a slanderous scene. It's ignorant to say that it should be allowed just because of a loose interpretation of a 200 year old document. Edit: It seems like what is really eroding away is common sense. 12. I can punch them in the face harder than they can punch me. That's who I am. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  13. If someone is worried about a 200 Euro difference over 20 years, they're in the wrong sport. Vigil is just another flavor. If the cutter fires, a repair is required, or a mechanism is damaged you simply have to pay up. Edit: I got a vigil not so much because it's cheaper but because it was available and something lasting 20 years is better than something lasting 12. Who knows. At 12.5 years it might self check something that is irreparable and I'll have to buy a new AAD. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

I thought you said you'd never show the nudie pictures of your girlfriends??? OH SNAP!!! "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  15. I don't give a flying fuck. Pursuit of happiness, bitches. And I won't be happy if some quack job is protesting at my friend's funeral. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

  17. Man, I don't know what world you live in but in mine there's this place called collegehumor.com just to begin with...but I'm sure girls everywhere are happy that you "don't think most guys would..." In my opinion, any girl with with any class and half a brain should know that the nice and friendly guy she started a relationship with might not be the same person after the breakup. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  18. Ok, are we talking about "nudie" pictures or "weekend at Kings Dominion" pictures? My next question, for which I could probably make a poll...what girl is STUPID enough to give naked pictures of herself to her boyfriend? Seriously, as if they won't at least be shown to his group of friends and possibly posted on the internet. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  19. That's not really a traditional look. It's what the Miami Vice wanna-be's started wearing in the early 90's at the chi-chi clubs. But if you want/need to look like a bouncer then keep the threads. Otherwise go for a modern conservatively cut suit jacket. Most good suits are fairly classic anyway. 20. I just read up on this to see if it's legal in VA and MD. I ran into your "disturbing" part. Apparently, it takes a LONG time for frogs to quit squirming. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  21. On the subject of hitting the ground really hard I always defer to the shot put guy myself. No, no, no! He's for the groundlaunch camp. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

  25. I think the polevault guy would be a better source for discussing landings. Have you spoken to him yet? Spectres are good but Demo or borrow a few canopies. Also, instead of trying to find something you can land, how about taking a course and learning to fly better? If at 27 jumps you've resigned to thinking that your piloting skills will never improve then you have bigger problems. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
