Looks like it took a bit for the cop to turn on his lights. He was probably on the radio trying to convince dispatch that he wasn't joking. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher -
They probably have to update the firmware they installed in Trump's brain after his covfefe error. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Wikipedia was launched after the dot-com bubble burst. You know, I was just going to gloss over that one beginning with the dot-com rage being more than a few years ago... "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

I just showed the Consevapedia site to VERY conservative friends of mine. They got a good laugh at that. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

I thought it was funny when Redstate or some equivalent created a stink about the quantity of American Flags on the Dem convention stage compared to the the GOP Convention. They of course didn't zoom out to show what Trump thought was actually important: https://timedotcom.files.wordpress.com/2016/07/republican-convention3.jpg?quality=85&w=594 "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Pun sort of intended (and I know you understand this) but it's a sort of canary industry emblematic of hardworking Americans. She could have said she was going to bring new jobs and industry to the areas where coal mining jobs are decreasing. Instead she said, "We're going to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business." Wups. You don't need to go deeper that Southpark references "They took er Jerbs!!!" to know that the Chevy/Ford truck driving West Virginia crowd has selective hearing. Until rushmc is the only supporter left outside of his family? Including even children he doesn't have a 100% approval rating within his family. Add wives and it goes down further. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

I won't disagree with HRC "shooting herself in the foot", but the idea that the president represents constituents is: A- wrong. That's the job of Congress. B - If any one expected Trump to represent anyone's interests than his own, well... Back to stupid gullible and ignorant. No, I'm pretty sure the President needs to represent constituents, regardless of what's written in the job description. Let's not parry too much on the direct link between voter and President. More likely it was 61 million Americans who Hillary and Democrats have ignored or called ignorant, gullible, stupid and deplorable. Well, if they believed (among other things) that Obama was Kenyan and Muslim, Hilary was responsible for the deaths at Benghazi, Trump was a successful businessman or that the Russians had nothing to do with the campaign, then they are ignorant, stupid and gullible. If they believe that Mexicans are rapists, Muslims are terrorists and that it's ok to treat women like objects, then they are deplorable. I have to admit that it was a hell of an eye opener to realize how many people are either or both of the above. They're also constituents who need to be represented. If they can't be convinced then the message wasn't good enough. Hillary shot herself in the foot every time she said something insulting to them or said that coal miners would lose their jobs. This is why our methods of interrogation need to also be lawful. The biggest problem that the FBI had in making a case against many of these terrorists is that the evidence against them was collected in a way that doesn't stand up in court. I voted for the bottom three but that doesn't mean they're what should actually happen either. There are laws in place over combatants, there are laws in place over juveniles, there are laws in place over terrorism. A 15-year old throwing a grenade during the military actions in Afghanistan straddles a few lines but ultimately he's a child soldier. He will live his life in a perpetual limbo of legal and popular opinion regardless of how many tribunals or generals he stands in front of. As for the torture and interrogation techniques, I follow the advice of professionals Ali Soufan - FBI Agent in the field that torture does not yield good results and voids our ability to prosecute. You can get a little bit of information from someone but then you can't prosecute that individual in any court, thus the reason that many of those in Guantanamo are held there for such long periods because you also can't release a terrorist that you spent 10 years torturing. Edited to correct his age from 17 to 15. That puts the exclamation point on him being a child soldier, typically manipulated into their actions, still not devoid of responsibility. Well said, I've never taken a canopy course or gotten coaching when the instructor wanted to see the footage from my perspective. It's useless. Video overall from a new jumper is basically garbage and I think everyone here can point to to at least one video of new jumpers not paying attention because they're geeking each other in freefall. Except that the credentials you flung back were nearly impeccable, the ones from the author of this article are non-existent. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Ok, I broke down and clicked on it. This whole paragraph gave me a chuckle: "It assigns only costs to carbon dioxide emissions, and ignores how rising atmospheric levels of this plant-fertilizing molecule are reducing deserts and improving forests, grasslands, drought resistance, crop yields and human nutrition. It also ignores the huge costs inflicted by anti-carbon restrictions that drive up energy prices, kill jobs, and fall hardest on poor, minority and blue-collar families in industrialized nations – and perpetuate poverty, misery, disease, malnutrition and early death in developing countries." That's what we call "a bit of a stretch". RushMC, can you please tell us how anti-carbon restrictions fall the hardest on poor, minority and blue-collar families? Edit: Also, you were talking shit about an author who is a mechanical engineer in the field of thermal modeling and professor of thermal and fluid sciences but you're OK that the author THIS article is a professional PR guy with at best a bachelor of arts in geology and field ecology. And all would go to the newbie "low man" if that were to occur. Jumping with a newb that goes low? I feel you should dive down to them and start over. One thing I never get on a belly jumps is everyone sitting there staring at each other when someone is low and not moving. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

I've read your links plenty of times. His method is to grab technical sounding material from other blogs, add a few graphs to make it look official and that seems good enough to fool the lay-person. Looking further into the source material it's typically from the lobbying industry that pays for climate denier material. They don't have to be right, they just need to fool enough people and generate some advertiser revenue. There are actually way more Climate Change Believer websites that do this such as Mother Jones and their ilk. I don't read those either. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

but that does not matter to the alarmists https://wattsupwiththat.com/2017/07/05/monumental-unsustainable-environmental-impacts/ Not clicking that garbage but it is true that many renewable projects can have a serious environmental impact. You have to fit the project to the site. When I was up in NE a group was trying to put windmills on the mountaintops until they revealed that they would have to entirely denude the tops of the mountains. Materials are another issue, as is production but that typically equates to the environmental impact of materials and production for a coal plant so it can be considered sunk cost. That is until Beatles lyrics become classical literature on par with Byron and Chaucer. "Good morning class, today we're going to study the work of Justin Beiber." BTW, the speaker at my high school graduation quoted Snoop Dogg's "Gin and Juice" lyrics throughout his speech. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

The secular opinion should be that reciting a prayer is no different than reciting a Beatles verse but there's definitely a gray area. Schools should set aside a moment for "personal introspection" and let the students do what they want with the time. Most will probably just whip out their fidget spinners. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

As I understand it, the issue is when the school is organizing the prayers. Nothing should stop individuals from praying or even groups of students. I don't recall if there were organized prayers at school events when I was there, maybe sporting banquets, but I'm not sure. Grade schools are now fairly devoid of school sponsor religious events/services but many colleges are not and some of those take federal dollars. I see no issue with that as long as those schools equally support all religions. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
