Last June, I stayed at the Stavanger Vandrerhjem (youth hostel) Mosvangen http://www.vandrerhjem.no/index.jsp/len/. It was ~$35 (including linen rental). Was supposed to be a shared room; ended up with it all to myself. It's a nice (not great) hostel. Slightly nicer facility than the White House at Lysebotn but lacks the view. marg

Six years ago, when I started skydiving, I was looking for a wrist altimeter. All of the others that I tried would flip up just enough to make it hard to see it in freefall. Probably not an issue for guys (& some other girls) with bigger hands. Light works great during night jumps. Also work well for hiking/climbing. Took mine all the way to Everest Base Camp.

My hiking highlight - A couple skydivers from Archway in Illinois (myself & another) trekked through the Khumbu, including an afternoon at Everest Base camp in spring 2003. There we met another jumper from California, who went all the way to the top. In addition to Specialty Risk, which others have cited, I've been enrolled in the Air Ambulance program - http://www.airambulancecard.com/index.htm I've never used either, but have known of a couple individuals who did use Air Ambulance without complaints; one was evacuated from the Himalayas while high-altitude climbing and another from northeast Kazakhstan.
