No, I'm correct. Things have changed since then. Business has changed since then. He hasn't been here in DOD for years. He does not know what he's talking about. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Who is this "someone" you are talking about? These reports, so far, are no comparison or surprising as the Pentagon Papers. If anything, it just means that someone is going to get into some serious trouble for leaking. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Does the movie take place in the 70's? It looks like a 60's concept aircraft proposed by Lockheed. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

[armchair with beer dispersor hat] He was probably banging against the stall threshold the whole maneuver that when he noticed that the nose started to drift too much to adequately correct in time,or the correction itself would increase the stall, he knew it was unrecoverable[my beer ran out] _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln -
Yup. Politics. People sharing claims for funding purposes. It may not throw off the bust figures as much as the overall funding. It's all in how they do the accounting and if they compensate for the fact that there are multi-claims and if they are keeping track of that. DOD, DEA, Coast Guard would always claim the same responsibility of our busts, in our instance, but the Pentagon would keep track. Multi claims in this instance would be for award puroses. I get my medals, DEA would get thier numbers, Coast guard would get their cost vs. award numbers, ect. For the reporter trying to get an accurate number, it would be a nightmare. Not all busts are published or need to know. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Just out of curiosity, did they say why it was a joke? What level were they in the hiearchy of things? I am making a guess here that it is more on the line of them not actually able to do certain busts or do their jobs completely. Throughout my service, I have contributed to this "War" (I hate the phrase "war on drugs: with a passion). I will tell you that there is some serious misrepresentation about this "war" in both the media and peoples' perception of what's going on. What adds to mass confusion is the different security levels and the "need to know" throughout different levels, departments, procedures, ect. This is no way an open book for very good reasons. This causes some assumptions that are very wrong. I sometimes think that people see this as some sort of "dragnet" or some other tv show style of policing. Oh, and, I am not disagreeing that there is some political issues involved here, just that the assumption is in the wrong area. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

I know all about the funk smell of a hard days of work and travel in extreme heat. I have definitely offended many with my presence. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Anti-social and flaky. What a catch Okay, I shouldn't laugh too hard, I've been there. A couple of times I felt like if I didn't leave now I would be made into a lamp shade. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln -
An update: The AW rates are not closed up, but that doesn't mean that the detailers have the ability to assign you that rate at that given time. The need to fill new openings changes constantly and sometimes daily. The detailers do not have that control to put people where needed if Big Navy says there isn't a space yet. I recommend checking in on the detailer daily to see if there's an opening and then sign up when there is. Talk to your detailer and ensure him that you are serious about joining up so he or she will be willing to work for you. Their time is precious and they work very long hours and sometimes days to get just one person in just to find out that the person flaked on them or they didn't qualify after all. I recommend that you do not take a job for the purpose of getting in the door so you can change rates at boot camp. It's hard to cross-rate after that and more than likely will not happen. It may take some patience but it will pay off in the long time. Now about the AW rates. There are different areas in the rate in which you can go: AWR (naval aircrewman tac-helicopter): 7873, H-60B; 7876, H-60F; 7875, H-60R Mostly ASW stuff on Seahawks. Taking off, landing on frigates cruisers destroyers looking for threat submarines AWS (naval aircrewman tac-helicopter): 7805, H-60S; 7807, HH-60H utility; 7815, SAR; 7885 H-53 utility; 7886, H-53 AMCM Combat helos working with spec ops, spec warfare and Super stallions utility and mine warfare. AWO (naval aircrewman operator): 7835, TSC operator; 7841, P-3 acoustic; 7861, P-3 nonacoustic Flying in P3 Orions for ASW and/or surveillence AWF (naval aircrewman mechanical): 8206, C-130 mech; 8208, C-130 2nd LM; 8209, C-40 crew chief; 8220, C-130 LM; 8227, E-6B reel operator; 8235, E-6B FE; 8241, C-12 utility; 8245, C-20 crew chief; 8250, C-9 crew chief; 8251, P-3 FE; 8252, C-130 FE; 8278, C-130 LM; 8279, C-2 LM; 8289, TSS head C130, prowlers, c9(military version of dc-8's) as load masters and crew chiefs. AWV (naval aircrewman avionics): 8228, E-6B comm; 8229, E-6B IFT; 8265, P-3 comm; 8284, EP-3 EW operator; 9401, EP-3 IFT; 9402, P-3C AIP IFT Fix electronic stuff for Prowlers, Orions. Now which particular AW job you will fill may not be guaranteed in itself, but the AW rate itself will be. Practice your swimming like the free style, side stroke back stroke and butterflys as you will be required to be a Second Class swimmer for a lot of fun ones. Good luck! _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

It will be tight on a surface ship; it will be a lot worse on a Submarine (fast-attack). If you have any questions, ask me. Two of my guys here in the office were prior recruiters and one is converting to become a NC (Navy career Counselor). It's just as simple as me relaying info. Recruiters don't have to be as sneaky as yesteryear, but it doesn't mean they have all the answers either. oh god a navy recruiter, hey virgin...errr viking, dont listen to this guy, they are trained to lie =D Ugh. Recruiting. It's one thing I will never do, not even for points toward advancement. I'm actually an Instructor. I don't lie to get people in, I brainwash fertile minds. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Electronics training mixed with flying. . . very coveted. I'll have to check tomorrow. As far as a guaranteeing an A school, you get that (to include what enlistment bonus) before you even leave boot camp. You sign the contract at the recruiter's office or MEPS office (pre-processing station). _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

My condolences on your Grandmother. I am sure she is proud of you and very greatful. Try very hard for the Aircrewman job. Submarine duty, especially Ballistic Missile boats, is very arduous. And if I remember correctly, you are a few inches taller than I am. I have problems in regular racks(bunks) on a warship. You may have much more issues on a smaller bunk of a fast-attack. Where are you at right now with the Navy? Are you on the Delayed entry program or have you just talked to a recruiter? I advise you to wait for a AW position to open up than sign for something else because you want to join now. In the long run, going in for what you really want to do will pay off greatly. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

death toll of USA soldiers deceived Americans
nanook replied to chuteless's topic in Speakers Corner
I'm pretty sure something like this can't be hidden. There isn't a clearance to number of troop deaths. There is definitely a different number between deaths on the battlefield and hospital and post-deployment deaths, but that number is not impossible to research on your own. I'm pretty sure that people are "decieved" by reading one death report and not another and a news source calls that lack of detail "deception". _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln -
Not neccessairly. People with little or no income taxes don't have much to protect or may not cross-utilize different areas of services as much as someone who earns a lot more. Some peoples estates extend multiple states and counties: may require more FAA utilization going back and forth between places;more uses of roads; more IRS's time being used; More funds the SEC guards; More cops patrol. ect. . . _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

I do!! I want to buy your property at auction. Why don't you just charge extra for the "fruits of your labor" to compensate for tax you will have to pay? _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Nope. We celebrated freedom from Britian's rule and independence from them. I wouldn't feel too bad about being "enslaved". Even if we abolish all dominion-esque rules, physical science pretty much enslaves us to certain areas of existance. Matter of fact, to get outside these constraints requires a lot of artificial designing of equipment and systems that require, ahem, rules. Chill out. Don't be such a slave to dispair _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Nope, 45 to 0. I'm not good with that clicky-the-right-place thingy. That's why I don't work on ballistic missile boats. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
