  1. So you were jumping with Jerry at SDC yesterday? Thought I saw some new faces. I was one of the freefly groups (jumpsuit in the pic to the left look familiar?). I jump with a bunch of that group from time to time, Jerry was one of our first load organizers a few years ago. He's good. 2. 4. Began at 14,000 and went down to about 9,500 by mid-afternoon when I left. Fortunately, what weather there was stayed high enough up for much of the day so we could jump. Roger left enough of a margin beneath the junk so we could avoid the ice crystals that were beginning to show up. Harry I don't drink during the day, so I don't know what it is about this airline. 3. Good luck, Zennie. Seems to me there are lot of posters here from Houston area and Spaceland, so I guess you have a bunch of buddies down there, which is always good. Some day maybe some of us from Chicago will get down there. Harry I don't drink during the day, so I don't know what it is about this airline. I keep falling out the door of the plane. 4. Why couldn't they rent it out? It's a lot more entertaining than some of the other stuff out there. But then, it depends upon one's interests. Harry I don't drink during the day, so I don't know what it is about this airline. I keep falling out the door of the plane. Harry, FB #4143
  5. What weekend boogie? I know some people who went to work at Skydive Atlanta from SKydive Illinois recently. They are Johann, Pat, Carl, and Jim. Just curious if that is your dropzone, since I see you are in the Peach Tree State. Harry I don't drink during the day, so I don't know what it is about this airline. 6. Classic jazz from public radio. Do that frequently, and play jazz CDs on the way to the DZ and back. The two are connected in my mind now. Harry I don't drink during the day, so I don't know what it is about this airline. I keep falling out the door of the plane. Harry, FB #4143
  7. Wear Chilis wickable top and long underwear, with maybe some jeans and a rugby shirt and maybe a sweater (similar to ski layers). I wear a full-face helmet and then those biker gloves. The gloves are thin in the fingers, but then those stretch synthetic fabric gloves from WalMart work well as liners. With the jumpsuit on top, the above seems to work down to 35 or 40F, which is pretty close to my limit anyway (on the ground). Of course, temps at altitude will be around or below 0, depending upon the weather up high. Harry I don't drink during the day, so I don't know what it is about this airline. Movin on.

Don't give up the dream of flight, man! Harry I don't drink during the day, so I don't know what it is about this airline. I keep falling out the door of the plane. Harry, FB #4143
  9. In mid-winter ZHills may not be as warm as some of the south Florida drop zones. It has been chilly there when it's better at Sebastian or Pahokee. I don't drink during the day, so I don't know what it is about this airline. I keep falling out the door of the plane. Harry, FB #4143
  10. Come out to Illinois. The weather is to be jumpable both days around Chicago. Harry I don't drink during the day, so I don't know what it is about this airline. I keep falling out the door of the plane. Harry, FB #4143
  11. Look out the window and fantisize about skydiving. It's really quite pleasant. Have your favorite beverage while doing this. Harry I don't drink during the day, so I don't know what it is about this airline. I keep falling out the door of the plane. Harry, FB #4143
  12. I play squash racquets at lunch during the week, which is lots of running. Otherwise, walk and run in the city at various times, a few miles a day. Skydiving doesn't really keep us in shape. 13. Experience has taught me to look around until just before the flare, if at all possible. You can be overtaken by faster canopies that will factor into your landing, whether or not they belong there, etc. Also, I had a camera flyer spiral from above right in front of me (he says he saw me). Once you are ready to flare, assuming you are not using the risers for some kind of swoop, make sure you are in full flight. If you have altitude and feel you will be long, you can always sink the brakes a bit to shorten it up. Anyhow, the momentum of full flight will give you the momentum for the flare to brake your vertical speed. I also find that looking outward towards the horizon helps with the flare. 14. Bundle up and jump anyway, provided limited clouds and light winds. That's what some of us do, although I am spending more time down south to limit the cold problem. 15. Right on! Sometimes we can try to make the world a better place, but most of the time it pays to deal with the world the way it is. Most of my jumper friends believe in the latter as far as life in general. At least as far as our sport itself is concerned, dealing with reality is a good safety policy. 16. Sadly, I believe PhilyKev is right. My take of this is that going through eviction proceedings, forgetting for a moment about whether your verbal sublease contract is enforceable where you are, will raise the profile of your situation and put it on the landlord's radar at some point. This may be bad if he doesn't know about your tenant. Better to tactfully raise the issue of eviction (without actually starting proceedings) if all else fails with a timetable certain for paying what he owes you. If that fails, you may have a problem. 17. Does the target file end up as a digital file that can be edited by other software, just as if it had come from a digital camcorder? This would be a good way to include stuff in a digital video that had to be copied to VHS first because it started out as PAL standard video. I have a couple like this. 18. My prayers are with you Clay. What kind of work are you looking for? Do you jump at Skydive Atlanta or Rome? Harry I don't drink during the day, so I don't know what it is about this airline. I keep falling out the door of the plane. Harry, FB #4143
  19. I believe he will find that very helpful (I write code). It looks like the author of that page couldn't decide which way to part his hair, so he parted it right down the middle. 20. Thanks! I know I like the "before" better. I am a creature of nostalgia for this bird. Harry I don't drink during the day, so I don't know what it is about this airline. I keep falling out the door of the plane. Harry, FB #4143
  21. Put your hand on your closing-pin necklace if you have one, close your eyes, and think about beer and a blue and fluffy sky. Resolve that you CAN handle your troubles and pride yourself in your ability to manage your feelings right up to the next jump, which is coming soon! 22. Close to 3 weeks due to weather. I schemed to get out during the week, and felt irritable towards 2 weeks, then hopeful after that. Between good weather during the colder months and going to Florida, I try to get in at least a couple of jumps every weekend of the year. If it's not really cold (
  23. Prayers and vibes from Chicago!! Tell them why you want the job. Just make sure they understand why the sweet blue sky is the most important thing, their business operations notwithstanding. 24. Currency breeds relaxation and familiarity in our sport, and that's very important. I don't know whether that means you would do it all at once and thus wait until you can. I just wouldn't recommend spreading out AFF too far, since you might waste a unit by having to repeat it if you are not "feeling" current. As for static line, I can't really comment on whether that's easy to spread out or not, since the 3 DZs near here have all discontinued static line some time ago. 25. That might be Ed Scott. He is the FAA liason at USPA and may also be the TSA contact. I drove him to O'Hare after the USPA meeting in July and found him to be pretty reasonable and informed.
