Put that instructor on your list of people not to ask for advise. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

By definition, he's the head democrat, which are the people trying to do all this in secret. How do you spell cop-out, Quade? Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

Well that was certainly eye-opening. I'll be sure to treat the terrorists nice now. Maybe they'll kill me last. Reading problem there, Chuck? You treat terrorists as terrorists. You treat the other 99.99% of Muslims, Christians, Hindus, atheists, etc., nice. Nope, no reading problem at all. And you're right, we should treat terrorist as terrorists and treat everyone else nicely. The trick is figuring out which is which. Good luck with that. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

Sorry, I took your comment the wrong way. I agree that Beamer and the rest of the passengers did the right thing. Hell, they did the only thing they could. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

If that was an attempt to be funny, you failed miserably. Pretty f*cking uncalled-for comment, too. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

So exactly where have you seen muslims roundly and vocally condemning terrorist actions? Soap boxes in town squares around the world? And if they aren't getting news coverage, it has nothing to do with "most people's preconceptions". News directors decide what makes the news, so you must mean "most news directors preconceptions. I love ultimatums. Had a very productive employee who was priceless once give me an ultimatum about another employee who was very unproductive. Guess who got the shaft? Employers who bend to any ultimatum immediately loose control and respect. I would have on the spot fired that person in front of everyone, case closed. IanHarrop mentioned 5% jerks but I feel it less than that. Arguments among staff in front of others simply shows a lack of character and class. It also depicts individuals who cannot control their emotions. Regardless of how important they are to a facility, point them in the right direction and kick their ass out the door. That's a lot easier to say than do - especially if you need the staff. Turnover is expensive in more ways than one and most staffers can be taught good business manners. I'll still vote for taking the guy behind closed doors first. If he's not trainable and continues the innapropriate behavior, then he'd have to go. Running a business requires more balance than force. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

You have to be out of your mind. The only part of the system that worked was everything AFTER the guy tried to detonate the bomb. Every part of the system prior to that moment was an absolute and miserable failure. The only thing that stood between that plane full of people and death was the terrorist's own stupidity, poor tools, bad luck, or all three. The intelligence community had information about this terrorist and didn't connect. Even the guy's own father turned him. He was already on a watch list, yet he never made it to a no-fly list, even after credible evidence that he was up to something. He (according to news reports) got on the plane with out a passport. WTF??? He bought an international ticket with cash and checked no luggage. Unless they've changed the "profile", that is supposed to be THE red flag. Lastly and not surprisingly, airport security also failed to catch the bomb. What part of the system are you trying to say worked? The part where a PASSENGER on the plane jumped the guy and put the fire out with his hands? OK, you're right - that part worked fine. Good thing that passenger was on duty that day. By now, everybody knows how that statement has been twisted, spun, demagogued and politicized, to the absolute silliest. You wanna keep shootin' blanks, knock yourself out. If you make a stupid statement like "the system worked," you're gonna get skewered for it. She started retreating less than 24 hours later, and last night I heard Obama threw Intelligence under the bus to make up for it. +1 Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

Yeah, I can hardly get any news on the flight 253 underwear bomber because all the coverage is about muslims all over the world roundly and vocally condemning him. Hell, it's getting annoying. Every muslim from the man on the street to the leaders of mosques are all over my TV, throwing him under the bus. I now hear Dave Letterman is going to to the "Top Ten Global Muslim Terrorist Condemnations" not once, but every night for a week - just to fit them all in! And I'm sure we'll have to put with those network TV specials like CBS's "Global Muslim Terrorist Condemnations and How They Are Beating Terroism", NBC's "The Best of the Global Muslim Terrorist Condemnations", and of course ABC's "Funniest Global Muslim Terrorist Condemnation Home Videos" where contestants compete for $100,000. I sure wish the damned terrorist would give it a break so the Global Muslim Terrorist Condemnations would stop. They keep cutting in on the Dukes of Hazard marathon. Geez. A bit off topic, but there is quite a difference in your example and mine. In the case of Christian extremists (and athiests for that matter), attackers are usually found to be whack-jobs acting on their own, and are often people with a history of mental issues. Islamic extremism, on the other hand, teaches such actions - on a global scale - as a matter of serving their god. Now hand me them rattlesnakes - it's time to dance. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

Yes, expressing an opinion certainly makes him that. No, Hume's arrogance of presuming that his particular religion, into which he became a member mainly by accident of birth, is the superior path to other religions, is what makes him a dick. It's a common human fault, which transcends religions and culture, but Hume is certainly guilty of it. You mean like the islamic extremists who believe poeple who won't convert to Islam must be killed? Oh such arrogance, Mr. Hume. Shame on you. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

How do mean he "blackmailed" the DZO? If you mean he threatened to refuse to do further tandems if he didn't get his way, that's not blackmail. That's an ultimatum. If the situation was as you related it, I agree that it was unprofessional to have a an altercation with a staffer in front of a customer. The DZO should have excused himself and his Instructor and dealt with the situation away from everyone, including other staffers. Keep in mind that many - if not most - DZ's are run by passionate people who love to jump out of planes. That by itself is not an indication that someone is well-mannered. Could be the massive increase in entitlement programs, which typically require recipents to stay out of trouble with Johnny law to keep the money coming. Socialism at work - "be good little boys and girls and you get to keep your government check". Personally I prefer to keep my money and protect myself. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

Yawn. Any twit can bash the other team for the sake of bashing, which is all that this is. When you have something substantive to say, wake me up. Zzzzzzzzzzz..... When you have something adult to say, for a change, Marc, let us know. Sounds like a personal attack. Where's billvon when you need him? Oh yeah, on the other side. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

and Bush and his crew said similar things after 9-11 - it's called posturing. The difference is Bush actually did more than talk. You're welcome. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

Which Jebus do you believe in, the one that white America worships - the one who looks like Charlie on the ZigZag package? Or the Hispanic one with darker features? Or the one African Americans worship, the one with dark features? I guess we can just make up our own Jebus and then say he created us in his image, even tho he has many diff images, depending upon who worships him, her, it, etc..... Rant alert. I didn't say anything about Jebus. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
