  1. Yeah, today it's filled with leftist marxist wannabes and radicals. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  2. You'll shave mere seconds by doing this. However, 6 minutes for a 6 minute video tells me a few things... Either; you're rendering a LOT of effects/filters or you're rendering to incorrect file types or you've got opacity or other master setting on a track set incorrectly or you're using some weird intermediary or You've got some serious weirdness happening in the background. That machine should be spitting out a 6 min vid in 2 mins or less. Assuming you're starting with MPEG from the CX100? Rendering to MPEG2 widescreen with AC3 audio. Wow. I'll PM ya. 3. I may be getting closer, but still a bit confused on some stuff. I've done some side-by-side comparison of render times to check out the long render time I told you about. Using the same project and making NO changes to it, here's what I got. With the DYNAMIC RAM PREVIEW MAX set at the default of 128MB, the render ("make movie" option, saved to my external hard drive) of a 6 minute 30 second video took just under 6 minutes. When I change the RAM to 0MB, the same project takes almost 10 minutes to render. I'm doing everything the same - no changes to the project, no changes to the save location, and no other changes that I'm making. Just for kicks, I changed the RAM setting to 512MB and did a "make movie" again. This time there was no change from the 6 minute time I had when using the default 128MB. FYI, I also unistalled and re-installed all the Vegas components just before trying this test and it hasn't crashed since. Of cousre I also changed all the save settings (including the save location for temp files) to an external USB hard drive, so that could have something to do with it. So at this point my crashing and lock-up problem might be solved (I sure hope so - this crap is getting old). Any other suggestions on getting faster render times? I have been told my final renders will be faster if I pre-render files that will be re-used in videos such as titles, graphics, and music. Couple questions on this: a. Is doing this helping? b. What file types should I be rendering video and audio files as? Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  4. Windows 7. Anti-virus is off. It continues doing it even after a re-install of Vegas. I'll try what you said about the ram. Update!! Changing the ram doubled the render time, so I cancelled it. Mo Better Update: I think I have found the common denominator. Every time I try to render a new project, Vegas either locks up or shuts down. After I re-open the project it renders without problems in a normal time (about 7 minutes for a 6 minute video, saving as mpg2) Hopefully someone can shed some light. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  5. Speaking a little Greek for me, but under "system type" it says it's an x64-based PC. Would that be the number I'm looking for? Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  6. Hey guys, This is killing me. I'm running Sony Vegas Studio Platinum 9 and the dang thing keeps locking up and sometimes even shutting down when I render. I'm running an i7 processor with 6GB of RAM and 250G hard drive. The IT at the DZ dumped 4+GB of crap in the temp folder put there by Vegas and everything worked fine. However since then the problem has returned and continues after doing the same thing. Oddly enough, it does it sometimes and not others. I also notice it doesn't lock up when working with the receovered file after an initail crash. I have heard something about being able to adjust the amount of memory the program uses. When I look at the task manager, it look like it's using about 2GB when rendering. Is there a way to up that and would that help. I have 6GB and am not running anything else when doing video. Also: anti-virus is off internet is disconnected Any ideas to help me out?? Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

  8. Actually there is a long-standing tradition that the president of the United States doesn't bow to ANYONE. Of course, B.O. doesn't seem to care much about tradition...except that whole facing east thinig. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  9. Indeed, but unlike a future jury, I'm willing to give them the benefit of doubt and assume that it would have gotten out if this had lead to an actual incident. Even if they had tried to cover it up in the first place, I'd have to think that this thread might bring an incident to light in one way or another. I was thinking of things like lines burns on a tandem passengers hands or legs. Just the kind of thing that can happen when your CReW class consists of "OK little Johnny, grab that parachute". 13. Given the scenario presented, it appears a good solution would be to use your left hand to deply the reserve, followed by a left pattern under cnapoy and hopefully a single-handed, two-toggle flare, and a PLF to the uninjured side. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  14. Guess you haven't heard the term "double dip recession". Have you not noticed that every positive economic report comes with a caveat about poor underlying data? This crap economy isn't close to over, and we have this anti-American leftist president (lower-cae "p" intentional) to thank for it. Home sales hit a 17 year low in December. Unemployment is about to top the 11% mark and is well past 20% if you include the unemployed that are no longer on unemployment benefits and have literally given up looking for a job. Commercial REIT's are about to tank, and by the way, your numbers are actually crap once you adjust for inventory rebuilding levels. Did I mention Ford turned a $2+ billion profit for 2009? Yes, Ford. The only one of Detroit's big 3 that DIDN"T take stimulus money. Obama. Taking America from the frying pan to the fire, one guilty white man at a time. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

  16. I have no problem helping people OUT of a bad situation. However, our system KEEPS people in their bad situation. People who go on welfare unfortunately often become victims of the very people who claim to help them. Once the money starts flowing, the job often never seems to get hunted for. Funny how that works. How about fishing poles instead of fish? Handing poor people fish has been tried over and over. And those poor people are still poor. How much longer do you want to run in circles instead of teaching fishing lessons, co-signing the loan on a boat, and pushing them from the damn dock? Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  17. I've heard of Batman, but people pigeons? And why are they homeless? Whatever; we should feed them all. Are you funny making of the talk I way? Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  18. Source: http://www.latimes.com/news/nation-and-world/la-na-landrieu-acorn27-2010jan27,0,894636.story Daddy says, "He was maybe trying to do a prank to get some information, but that's about it," he said. "He wouldn't break the law. He would know better than that." Uh, he already has . . . Well, it's nice to know the office of dirty tricks is back up and running in the Republican party. You would have thought they'd wise up and use slightly better methods than these lame 1970s spy movie tactics. So now a guy that takes it upon himself to break the law in the course of pursuing his agenda is the Republican party. Damn, son - do you ever quit? Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

  21. Nope. Let her find another job. And how the hell do you go from college grad to starvation? Oh yes, you must also assume the nice young lady never saves a dime, has no relatives to help out, no church affiliation to rely on (although most every church would welcome and help her, pink slip and all), and no ability to fend for herself. You sure don't have much faith in young, college educated moms. It's called consequences, Bill. Without them, nobody would go to work. And who would fund your precious welfare then? 25. Right, it was the indeps that made the deal for the R's, not the R's by themselves or alleged D's flipping. Alleged? I love it how when you need to make an argument, facts become "alleged". Are you saying voters are lying to polsters? If so, I could make the same argument and say that 50% of dems flipped. If you want to have an intelligent conversation, stay in reality. Right and Calif was always D for pres until fascist Ronnie came along. AZ always R for pres until Clinton in 96, so you're saying there was an anomoly? Weird is the new normal; welcome aboard. For Mass., it definitely was. Sounds like sour grapes to me. Welcome to a 41-57-2 split; now go celebrate. I am. No, the loud noise was heard in the last 3 elections, not the Nazis win 3 Gov seats and 1 seante seat and they think they're the majority. Absurdity doesn't make your point very well. In a state that is 3 to 1 dems, this election was clearly a statement from the voters, even if you don't like it. I think the last 3 elections have shown that. Ah yes, and now the pendulum swings. OK, now define the BO part. What do Americans hate that BO is taking to huge proportions? In a word, spending. Fixed it. Whatever, dude. Seems the libs have their panties in a wad. I love it.
