No, the holidays evolved out of Saturnalia. The tradition of bringing trees indoors is a winter solstice celebration of pagan Germanic origin. I find it funny - and a little odd - that the athiests know more about religious holidays than many of the believers do. Maybe it has something to do with valuing facts over dogma. I am good with just prosecuting those who committed and permitted the fraud, corruption and graft that the Bush administration allowed. Crooks like that belong in Federal POUND EM IN THE ASS prison, not attending functions at the local country club. The problem is that there is just as much corruption now. It just involves different people with different agendas. Do you think those people should be in prison too? I won't comment on whether the NPP is a joke or not but if Obama had not accepted it, you would be complaining about that also. (Hell just froze over-I'm defending Obama) Your assumption is incorrect. I'm not an Obama basher. Several of your past post indicate otherwise. I guess it's how you define the word "basher" My previous posts - and any others I make - are issues based. If you see a lot of my posts in disagreement with the president, why does that make me a basher, rather than someone who simply disagrees with a lot of the things he does? Actually Mr. V, we discover things we don't know by posting our thoughts and getting responses - unless of course you don't want people to know more about your tunnel. My knowledge of today's tunnels is very incomplete. I wasn't aware that they were that tall. I can certainly see how a tunnel deployment could be fatal. Thanks for informing me about your tunnel. That WAS the opinion of the Bush administration. I thought you supported them. Don't confuse my support for some of Bush's actions with support for "them". "Them" are a bunch of politicians, regardless of what letter they place by their names. 43 proved to be just like the rest of "them" when it comes to screwing over the American people. Several of the 9 big banks that took TARP money didn't need it and tried to refuse it. Much the TARP money has gone unspent. Several of the banks have repaid most or all of the TARP money because they didn't need it in the first place and are now trying to get out from under the restrictions it brought with it.
