I'm getting ready to buy a laptop for video editing. I'm shooting a CX100, editing with Sony Vegas 9. Most of my shooting is staff stuff, so a fast turn around is important. I've spoken to several vidiots with a lot more smarts about computers than me and with that I've found 2 systems that seem to fit the mold. Wondering if I can get some opinions on each system, comparing the two, also opinions on these two for my needs in general, and suggestions in general. This one, upgraded to 6GB RAM http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=dndotw1&c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&kc=studio-1747 And this one - http://www.frys.com/product/6054468?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG Thanks for the help! Formation Load Speedstar Competition in Houston
chuckakers replied to chuckakers's topic in Events & Places to Jump
This sounds pretty cool. On Saturday, November 21st, Skydive Houston is hosting a 10-way formation load speedstar meet. The competition will consist of 6 rounds, with 5 jumpers exiting from each of 2 PAC750's flying in formation. Air to air video judging. B license or 50 jumps and current to compete. This is a scrambles style meet, so no need to bring a team. Register individually! Cost to compete is $15 plus $22 per jump - includes air-to-air team video, medals for the top 3 teams, a competition DVD for all competitors, dinner, and the first 4 kegs of beer. Party and catered dinner after the competition - and Turkey Bowling for big prizes!!! Knowing SDH, it will be a great party. Should be a good time. SDH has had a good feel lately and the PAC's are damn fast with steps and handles all over the place. The DZ is registering people now at the DZ or via e-mail at info@skydivehouston.com. See ya there. 5 left and cut.... Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX -
why do "they" keep locking cliffwhite's posts?
chuckakers replied to chuckakers's topic in Speakers Corner
Upon which that screen name gets banned. He'll have to come up with something more inconspicuous. Just ask Funks. If it's that bad, why not ban the current screen name. Or are you guys with the padlocks actually just playing into his hand? Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX -

Can anyone walk me through the baic operations of a Neoxs. Just got one and the instructions are horrible. Maybe someone can write a walk-thru everyone can use. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

Do you think it should or shouldn't be? /Marg I think we should do whatever is necessary to reach the originally stated goal of leaving Iraq as a free country able to govern and defend itself. I couldn't care less if it is politically unpopular. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

Priorities. Exactly what real crisis would you have had him push to the back burner so he could find a pet for his kids; Iran, Iraq, the economy? If it took him that long to pick a dog, no WONDER it's taking him forever to figure out what to do about the war. Oh please. As if he was even involved in the dog thing other than to say "OK". So now you know the inner workings of the Obama family? Oh double please. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

Priorities. Exactly what real crisis would you have had him push to the back burner so he could find a pet for his kids; Iran, Iraq, the economy? He won't do squat with Iran, Iraq is yesterday's war politically, but speaking of the middle east, he won't make a call on troops for Afghanistan, and he's wrecking the economy on purpose. At least he put the economy on the front burner. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

Smear tactics? Maybe you should actually listen to what the good reverend said. Do you actually dismiss his words as a joke? Do you just think he's kidding? Or do you agree that Marxism is good thing - which he clearly does. I'm just glad we have Rev Wright in the good ol' US of KKK A. As I've said before, technology is making it tougher and tougher to escape your words once they are heard by an unitended audience. 2 words - Van Jones. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

Did you expect anything different from our NEA controlled public schools? Indoctrination for sure. Sooner or later someone will uncover a memo encouraging the practice. Most likely Glenn Beck's White House mouse. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

I think a lot of times people have unrealistic expectations of how quickly something that may have taken 20 or more years to put in place can change over night. Not sure if it has much to do with the past. Barry took 4 months to pick a damn dog. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

Michelle Obama........ What does she do anyway?????
chuckakers replied to SkyChimp's topic in Speakers Corner
Actually, only 6 out of the 25 listed DIDN'T say "to the first lady" in the title, so no, a lot of them DON"T sound like they share resonsibility between B.O. and MO. That's not even an updated list. The First Lady has added more assistants since July (the date of the listing). The fact is Michelle Obama has - by far - more hired hands around than other FL in history. And are you calling me small-minded? That wouldn't be very tolerant of you, Wendy. And that would be a personal attack wouldn't it? I'd hate to have to report you to BillVon. Oh, and I wasn't trying to make anyone look bad, I was stating facts. If the FL having 25+ personal assistants looks bad, I'm pretty sure that's her fault, not mine. I suppose it does look pretty bad when you fly your personal hair dresser to Europe to keep you looking good. Royalty. They are so amusing. Embarrassing for the country, but amusing.
