It's not growth, it's recovery. And it's far from constant. You - like many of the sheople - are failing to look at economic fundamentals. The stock market and the economy are not the same thing, nor do they move up/down for the same reasons. The shit that got us here hasn't been repaired, and longstanding economic improvement won't happen until it is. Besides, it's not just the current state of the economy that has the "R's" upset. It's the marxist takeover of industries and the redistributive policies of the administration that most of them are pissed about. And there's a lot of "D's" and most every "I" and "L" that are pissed too. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

Your point is well taken, but I wonder if your perspective would be different if you ever saw a student without a radio fly into power lines. I learned on squares without radios myself, but radios used properly (to coach, not just command) are a useful tool in the instructional process. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

I know it seemed bad at the time, but holy sh*t that's funny! Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX -
If it's a muni, they like to hear how your customers will be spending money in their town. Filling gas tanks, eating at McDonald's, buying beer, staying at local hotels. All that means tax revenues and that wins out over almost everything else. If it's a private owner, promise him everyone will be off the airport 30 minutes after sunset. The problem with that idea, and this whole argument, is that wind tunnels are designed for meansuring factors at constant speed in clean air, and as we all know, reserve PC launches are in anything but. Between high speed, low speed, clean launch, or burble interference, there are a wide variety of circumstances that a reserve PC might encoutner. While one desigh might work better in one set of circumstances, the other might be the better choice for a different circumstance. The real test for these would something on the order of 20 low speed deployments (like just after a cutaway from a stable main) and 20 deployments from terminal for each PC. This would give you a reasonable sample size from both low and high speed deployments to let the variables other then airpseed hash themselves out. The real problem is finding someone to do the 80 test jumps rigged up with video and test equipment, and an outside video guy. So far I'm up to 160 slots, and 80 reserve pack jobs. The up side is that the test jumper can use a chest mounted tersh resereve, and stuff a Velocity into the freebag. All were looking at is time to bag strip, so the canopy has no effect on the test, and hey, built in RDS for the swoop. Either way, I'd like to see a side-by-side comparison with conditions and measuring techniques both Bill and John agree to. And I'd LOVE to see one of them diving out the door with the other's rig on. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

Looks like it's time for a CHUTE-OUT!! I say let's get these two pc's into a wind tunnel (prepped properly for flying objects, of course). 10 out of 10 launches, on video, with every high-tech whiz-bang devise y'all wanna bring to measure all the math. Winner gets a case of beer from me. Loser jumps the winner's rig for a year. That oughta shut someone up. The only question is who? Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

I'm sure he's just providing a warning based upon the incidents that he knows of personally, and the drop zones nearby. I don't think you should accuse him of not caring about skydivers anywhere else outside of Texas. There's skydiving outside of Texas? Hmm, go figure... Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

You'll have a better chance with Trump if you propose putting it at the Trump property of his choice. He loves to attract attention to his signature properties. Get his somewhat hot daughter or like-father-like-son-haired kid excited about a tunnel and you may have something. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

Your post looks a bit silly now that a year has passed. You can't be serious. Take a look at the underlying fundamentals of the economy. The second dip of the double is gonna be deep. You know, if the market being up from a down is your idea of success, remind me not to take your investing advise. Buy low, sell high works for me. You have a different strategy? That' not investing, that's trading. There's a big difference. I can discuss either, but you'll first need to decide which conversation you want to have. Oh brother, in today's and since the early 90's the market is about day trading. Go back to the 70's and all mwe had were long-term investors. Sorry, but most of all that's out there is day traders and profit takers; it's the way it is and has been for some time. Can't believe you just don't admit you fucked up. You guys crack me up. I've been investing with long-term strategies for a long time and it still works today - at least according to my consistant returns. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

Has anyone ever had a malfunction which...

I was using some old dacron line as swoop cords at the 87 nats and they somehow tied themselves in a knot when I threw them off my hands under canopy. I was basically handcuffed, with my hands about 4 inches apart. Hook knife to the rescue. If you don't have a hookknife when you need one, you may never need one again. USPA and PIA Issue Joint Skydiver Advisory
chuckakers replied to Communications's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
John - you seem to be implying that there is evidence that the deaths were actually caused by a failure of the equipment, rather than, say, a momentary p/c snag on the body or an unstable body position casuing an abnornmal launch. Since you are container manufacturer with a bigger stake than most in this situation, can I assume that you have sufficient information to form that opinion, or am I reading you wrong? And I'm guessing from your posts that none of the incidents in question involved Racers. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX -

The results listed are certainly not indicative of "marginal" winds. What are you calling marginal, and why, if the winds became marginal after load launched, didn't someone call the pilot to advise him/her of the situation? Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

I had the same complaint, using the latest i7 proccessor and 16G RAM. Without respect to your resources, rendering HD video is the culprit. I started shooting in SD (HQ) and my render times for a 7 to 8 minute tandem video went from 8 to 9 minutes to 2 minutes and some change. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
