  1. The Freds are an ELITE skydiving team, now that is funny. Every one knows the Black Knights are THE display team in the UK and the logo is much better. Have you ever jumped in the UK? I reckon that tat would be the source of much ribbing if you jumped at Nethers, Weston , Hinton, Sibson or pretty much any other. 2. Yup I am doing the second part of my Advanced Rating. Do you know any of the other CSBI candidates?? When will you be turning up at Brid, and where are you stopping? It looks like I will be camping on site. Buzz freekflyguy@hotmail.com It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  3. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1059369;#1059369 My set up, no DBox though and I now have a HC 30E Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

  6. I have a Carbon Fibre L Bracket on the left side of the helmet. I will take some pics tomorrow and post them. Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  7. I have a HC30E, if you can stretch the extra dosh go for the 30 or 40 rather than the 20. The 30/40 have DV in/out, AV in/out. The 40 has a better resolution over the 30, but the output from my 30E is great. You may find you have a problem finding a 25 - 37mm step ring. I waited 2 weeks for mine to arrive, but now my Kenko .42 fits nice (not much wider than the 30) and has no major probs with vignetting. I have two set ups, a FTP for tandem/4way and a side mount on a Protec for FF and students. The new HC series is ideal for mounting in both modes, it is narrower and lower than a PC style cam. Cam eye also works fine with the HC series. Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  8. First off let me say I am a PC man not Mac, however I know loads of cameramen who use Macs. I was chatting to a fellow camerman Sat night about the merits of Mac and PC and we both agreed that IMovie is ideal for the cameraman, in particularly the Tandem cameraman. This led us to speculate that perhaps the genius behind the code for IMovie was infact a tandem cameraman. We even decided that from now on we will refer to it by its correct name ITandem. OK much beer was involved, but I thought it funny enough to post. Buzz Vegas user and proud of it It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  9. I am suprised you found Vegas challenging. I use Vegas 5 exclusively, if you download the user manual and follow the tutorials youll find that it is really a very intuitive and easy peice of software. Admittedly it is overkill for thew basic stuff you would use it for on say a Tandem Vid, but once you get used to it the extra's are fantastic. The way Vegas handles titles, velocity (slomo) and compositing is very simple compared to other similar packages. The REAL TIME preview is outstanding even on a pretty low spec PC, and nothing out there comes close. The other serious vidiots on the DZ use Macs and IMovie. I have to admit the G3 Powerbook is beautifull and IMovie is an outstanding piece of software, but I refuse to pay that sort of cash to be part of the Mac experience. If you have Vegas, stay with it bud. You will be suprised how quick you pick it up. Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  10. After waiting 2 weeks for a 25mm - 37mm step ring I finaly got to jump my new HC30E today. Only managed 1 jump but was still very impressed. I had it mounted on my FTP and found it easy to switch on whilst wearing it, I have a cam eye fitted but i only use it for the indicator, I use the switches on the camera for operation. A couple of things I was worried about were the zoom lever and the on/off switch being knocked by the reletive wind. As i said I only managed 1 jump but no probs what so ever with them. The on/off switch for the HC 30E is a rocker switch that cycles through the three options (Tape, memory stick, VCR). The cam eye works great and will flash red if in any other mode than Tape. The hybrid screen is great for viewing in bright daylight, and the one touch bty indicator is really usefull as you get an instant readout without having to power up the cam. One gripe I do have is that the HC30E has no onboard SVID connector, that comes as part of the new A/V lead. This is only a minor pain due to the editing suite at my DZ having an SVID lead permanently connected. I viewed the footage I shot today along side some I shot yesterday with a PC8E and was very happy with the comparable image quality. I must agree with the comments about low light performance, however if its that dark I aint jumping:-). Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  11. I have a new HC30E that I am real stoked about. Cant wait to jump it, only thing is can I get a 25mm - 37mm step ring in Germany, can i feck. Any ideas guys??? Buzz BTW I picked up my HC30E €668 ($557/£445) is that a good price or what. It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

  19. The bar opens when the AGM finishes in the morning and stays open till the last person leaves(resident). As has been said its a good idea to take your own booze if you can get away with it as the Snooty Fox prices are painfull. Last year we (the RAPA staf) came opver in a minibus so we managed to bring a shed load of beer with us. As could be seen by the number of Warsteiner and Becks bottles lying around the next day. Unfortunatly we wont be attending the AGM this year as we have to go on Exercise from 14 - 28 Jan. However the exercise is in Perris (5 hours tunnel, canopy school, 30 jumps) so its not all that bad. The only question is, who will fill my shoes dancing naked on the tables this year?? Have a good one guys, I look forward to reading about it on here. 24. Thanks guys, We are planing on doing the canopy school, 5 hours in the tunnel and 30 or so jumps during the weekdays we are there. Some of the guys will want to stay and jump weekends but a couple of us want to get about. Any of you guys jump there mid week?? Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  25. Frankie I would echo the statement about not changing planform and size at the same time. I went from a Jonathan 150/ Sabre 150 (I jump both regularly in my job) to a Stiletto 135 and after a few jumps decided to go for a Stilleto 150. Get yourself an eliptical of the same size you are jumping and put a good number of jumps on it before you downsize. You may find that the gain in changing planform may be enough to defer your desire to downsize. As it happens I now have a Jonathan 150 (eliptical) for sale at a very reasonable price, and could easily bring it over whjen i go to Perris next week Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
