Hey there!! Didn't kill anything!!! Our DZ sits like 3km from town and is surrounded by nothingness!!!! We jumped 1 mile to the NE of the dz and it went in without incident. You're more than welcome to check Swakop out. The website needs updating, we have 2x 206's, one rear exit door with sliding door and one front exit. We are organising a turbine for December though...which is probably one of the best times to visit Swakop. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

Quote In total agreement!!! Any cameraman who meets the tandem snivelling past him after deployment should fall a bit longer. I was taught to watch the tandem deploy, remove wings, (if you're wearing them), whilst backsliding and then deploy. In 3 years I have seen thousands of tandems and there hasn't been a case of TM's meeting camermen after cutaways. Vertical seperation doesn't hurt but if you combine that with a good backslide I don't see a problem. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

Haha....I got the deal of the century!!! In Swakopmund, Namibia, a new PC105 costs like N$12500!!! (It's like 6.5 Nam Dollars to a US 1) But a buddy of mine bought one in Singapore for the eqivalent of N$6000, used it like 1 hour in 3 months, PERFECT CONDITION!!! And sold it to me for same price. I'm still smiling!!! ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

Hey there, Did my first Spaceball dive today. Me and a buddy made one, (well he made it I gave him the details). She was beautiful. Her name was V5-SPACE 1. So he did the first jump with it and all was cool. Second jump I was doing camera with another buddy and all was going well, but I'm sad to say that when break off alti came...aka Catch the %*$&ing thing, he missed and V5-SPACE 1 was no longer. It was alot of fun...V5-SPACE 2 is already on the drawing board. BLUE SKIES V5-SPACE 1. Adios. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

Had the same problem when I got mine the other day. Apparently there is something you do with that small screw. But it seeing as I found the strap awkward to use anyway, I cut it off. It fits fine in my d-box. If I really need the strap again I'll modify it for quick on, quick off use, aka Velcro. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

Man I'm dying to try one out. No one here in Swakop has one! Want to test fly one first before buying one. Say, how tall are you? hehe. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

husband and wife jumping together
Courteney replied to rickjump1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Absolutley!!! Way more chance both dying on the way to dz than at dz. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!! -
Has this happened to you (gross picture included)
Courteney replied to sabregrl's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've seen it twice on people that have had a hard knock against their eye. Not much to worry about...don't worry about the stares! It'll clear with time. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!! -
husband and wife jumping together
Courteney replied to rickjump1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Think you might be a tad paranoid there. What are the chances that both parents, (they don't have to be married), will be injured or killed on the same dive? (Plane crash aside) ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!! -
I presume you mean a Bonehead Optik! In which case 3 of us at our dz have one and we've set them up with two balsa wood pieces covered in a light fibreglass coat for strength in the front where it flattens. They are to fit kinda snug on either side of the lens to hold it in place. You could also put a velcro watch strap coming out the top and over the lens as well as the screw that is supplied. Even a little thin foam under the camera base is used by one of us. Something like that. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

F*$KING AWESOME PICS DUDE!!! What camera and lens were you using? And on what settings? Very interested in taking images like that. Cheers, Courteney. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!! -
Well if it's a rear exit door, then you can get the "board" to lie as far out as possible and grab their chest strap and exit tight to their chest almost like horny gorilla but the "board" goes flat and you attempt to stand on him...without kicking him in the face naturally. The same can be used in the front exit type. Trial and error I guess...I can see it in my head. Don't know if it helped. Good luck. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

cutaway/ reserve pillow sayings
Courteney replied to tattoojeff's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I heard of one guy that's really into his computers and stuff and wanted: "Ctrl+Alt" on his cut-away puff and: "Del" on his reserve one. Don't know if he ever got round to doing it. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!! -
It's the "bad azz" ones that we get in Swakop sometimes. A coupla years back, a buddy hit one and his canopy collapsed twice before he HIT the ground fucking hard...he was damn lucky to be alive and not have broken anything...although he was black and blue all over. Our dz is one huge gravel plain that has very little dust on it so it's damn near impossible to see them. Be careful out there boys and girls. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

Thanks alot for the advice! Buy you a beer one day...you never know. Cheers. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

Howzit, Thanks alot for the link. I'll check it out with my rigger this w/e. I've been suspecting something might be wrong as I don't get the consistent openings as I used to. I have another question though. All my lines seem to look fine, EXCEPT my steering lines, they are pretty worn but none of the others. My slider grommets are smooth with no sharp areas. Any ideas why? ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

I appreciate the advice, thanks. I'll speak to my riggers and try get the line lengths from PD. Cheers! ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

So I just compare the corresponding lines lengths? ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

Howzit, Was just wandering how many jumps should one put on a new line set before changing it? I jump a Stiletto 135 if that makes a difference. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

No cool man, it was a very interesting explaination. I must try remember that equation. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

Should I sue/ What do you think?
Courteney replied to dubbayab's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'll start off with my sympathy to your wife and yourself. Hope she recovers. Like Kris and DiverDriver mentioned, we need to know what equipment she was using and her reason for cutting away. You said it was an intentional cutaway? If so, should she not have had a back-up system in case her reserve failed as is per requirement of the BSR's (ours at least)!!! And being experienced as you claim, should she not have made sure her main had actually released and cleared before punching the reserve?! Don't think you'd have a chance suing the manufacturer. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!! -
It's like I said, it depends if you want to land or simply arrive. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

Well, I'm from Namibia so we don't have a huge Skydiving population but pretty up to date. We train our students to use S-turns when an over shoot is likely but obviously we don't have as much traffic as in the states...and even then we encourage height seperation. Low man has right of way. But sure if there's traffic, keep your eyes open. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

In Namibia and South Africa, jump 100=BUTT NAKED!!! We only "pie" someone on their 1000th. On my buddies 100th which coincided with my 200th we did a 3-way out of a Grand Caravan. It was supposed to be from +-10000' but the CI and pilot decided to have their fun and took the whole load to 13000' where the temp was +-2degrees C. The tandem pax were'nt impressed...but were amused. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
