Hey there, I'm having problems using Premier 6.5, I'm trying to put a video clip in slow motion to suit the soundtrack but don't know how. I'm new to the editing stuff. What I want to do is have a clip running normal speed and when the tempo slows on the soundtrack I want the clip to go into slow mo. Any suggestions??? Cheers, Courteney. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

Any snag problems with top mounted on Optik ?
Courteney replied to Pawl's topic in Photography and Video
Hey, Two of us at our dz have Optiks with still mounts on top. Best is position camera, (we both have Pentax MZ series SLR cams), mount it in the centre so that your lens doesn't extend, (if at all), beyond the front. You have to feel what is comfortable for your neck. We have had zero snag problems as yet and my buddy has at least 800 jumps with his. With a correct, symmetrical body position on opening and if you chest strap isn't overly tight, you shouldn't have a problem aside from the occasional riser strike against the DV D-box. Just be careful moving around in aircraft and on climb out. Hope that helps. Cheers, Courteney. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!! -
Ah, the first person in the whole thread to think of protection to ones neck. Even if some one could slow himself down vertical enough to land, with that great forward speed if a slight air pocket comes along you're liable to face plant and break your neck in trillions of pieces. And even if some one does land a wingsuit safely, I doubt there would be many followers. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

A friend of mine had a magazine in the plane and pretended it was an instruction manual. Looked funny on video but hilarious in freefall as he's busy reading it and starts checking his 3-rings etc, scratches his head and let's the "manual" go. One of the funniest tandem videos ever. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

S/L I question.. training your students to exit
Courteney replied to dubbayab's topic in Instructors
Hi there, I'm not an Instructor yet, (maybe end of the year) but am a J/M. Was wondering about that S/L in the frame grab. It's pulling out a pilot chute attached to the bag right? What's the name of this system? And what's the thought behind it? Btw, we only use the direct bag S/L so don't know any other type. Cheers, Courteney. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!! -

Well, I would say I'm experienced in static line as that was my progression. I volunteer from time to time to jump static line on other peoples Jumpmaster's courses. I could see a problem with a premature deployment but there must have been a few factors that led to that specific outcome. Possibly a short line? Anyway it worked out well. How can you trust something that gave you doubt at one stage, you have to try it out to ease your mind. I couldn't just write off the reserve for a strange flight if I wasn't sure if I had something to affect it. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

Hey there, Just for interest. I read on a previous thread about Tempo Reserve's with "built in" left turns and it got me thinking back to my last cut away. After a pretty decent sitfly and slowing down enough I dumped to have the shitest spiralling opening on my then 150 Siletto, it really freaked me out but couldn't quite work out what was wrong so when in doubt.... After my 150 Tempo opened I really started to wonder if I made the right decision cause it seemed that to fly it straight I had to hold down one toggle, landing was uneventful and I just wrote the left turn off to a loose leg strap. So yesterday I decided to get peace of mind and test my reserve out. Hooked it to a static line rig and jumped it much the amusement and wonder of everyone at the dz. It opened quick enough and seemed to steer fine but after checking that my leg straps were equal I noticed that it was turning very slowly to the left. Not as hectic as when I last chopped but it definately was there. Landing was interesting as I had just put my foot out to land and almost fell on my arse due to the canopy collapsing behind me. I'll still use it as it didn't bother me as much as it did the first time. But I do recommend for peace of mind to test jump your reserves before or after buying it to avoid any nasty surprises. Cheers and take it easy. Blue skies. Courteney. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

Hi there, Was just interested in that inflatabelt thingy. Where abouts can I get my hands on one? And how much does one cost? Thanks, Courteney. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

I hear what you and Tonto are saying but unfortunately for the time being solo's are all I can do as there's no one else to flock with until Dec. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

Was told of a German first jump student at our dz years ago, First jump, good exit and arch, canopy opens square and flying straight, next thing he cuts away and pulls his reserve handle!!! When asked why he did that it was found that he was taught his reserve procedures a tad too close to his exit procedure. He didn't stop at Arch thousand...five thousand check canopy! He continued to MALFUNCTION!!! Look, Handles, etc. He thought that it was all one procedure. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

We've all been there, but skydiving is all about facing your fears...and having shitloads of fun jumping outa planes!!! I still get a little scared/nervous from time to time, specially when trying something new. Whilst doing my progression I fucked up my 15sec with alti, cos I had my whole routine planned out in my head before I got in the door. One that jump about 2 miles out the JM told me to turn around and look out the door. WHAT!!! It totally shattered my plan and I got so worked up about it that I had a really stable ff for 10 sec on my back. Advice from another JM was not to think about the dive until the door opens, then say to yourself: "Ok so let's fucking do this, let's jump out a plane and have fun!" Big smile and deep breath makes you relax. Don't let fear get in the way of your dreams!!! Don't give up!!! Go for it. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

My wife has the same canopy and I jump it from time to time for something different. It's a very cool canopy and have had some of the sweetest openings on it. The off heading openings may go away but it's nada to worry about. Line twists may be body postion or packing and final line stow length. Enjoy it, it's gets better with every jump. Safe landings. Hey Tonto, I've actually been wanting to ask the same question for arm position in general. I see pics of guys with their arms slightly rolled forward but straight and others with there lower arms slightly bent. I fly straight out and best time thus far was 81sec for 6800' ff, averaging 53mph. I'd actually like to know from those who fly different arm positions what's their reason/theory behind it?! Cheers, Courteney. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

I checked the ratchets, they seem fine. Just the replacement visor didn't fit as snug as the original one thus if the air flow hits it just right and if I'm moving fast enough it sometimes pops open. Thanks anyway. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

I used to ff in my Oxygen A3 until it's visor ripped off at 160mph, since then it's popped up even in rw. Didn't think a Z1 would do the same, oh well. My wife's Mindwarp or my Optik with camera suits me fine. Cheers. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

Bummer dude!!! Hope that never happens to my GTi, just got it the other day. Hope you come right with da zipper. Cheers, Courteney. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

Yep!!! Same here, wind was coming from opposite direction as the norm, hot day, final approach after filming tandem with borrowed camera gear and suddenly my canopy drops out the sky at just over hangar height. Flare like crazy my fuck all happens, ground coming up to meet me HARD!!! All I thought was about camera, turn head and POES into ground, witness thought my leg broke for sure but I was lucky to come off with bruised ankle. Scary shit. Seeing a jumper pass close to me in ff as I'm under canopy. Did a CAT2 jump with a student and when it came time for him to turn 180 and track away, he tracks in a 360 turn and ends up right under me and goes in to pull, I see him coming and start back sliding in vain and finally side slip and open. Stern talking to afterwards, he never even realised he wasn't tracking straight!!! That's it for now. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

Cool, Gordon actually came to the club today. He's moved to South Africa. When you're next in Namibia we should definitely fly together. Until then, Long flights. Courteney. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!

It kinda looks like a classic, difficult to tell if it's a 1 or classic2. I'm super stoked over the suit. And can't bring myself to eating the biscuit.
