  1. Gotta agree with him. 34 jumps...175 pounds...stick to the 220. No point buying a 250, hell you might as well be back on s/l. Be patient and a canopy will come along. If you were a little lighter I would've suggested lifting some weights to build those arms to pull the front risers on a 220 but you probably don't have that problem with your current WL. Have you tried S-turns to prevent overshooting? Btw, isn't the saying AS JY DOM IS MOET JY KAK! Of BOETIE! KOM KYK, HIER KOM KAK!!! ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  2. I've intentionally stalled 2 canopies a coupla times. It was recommended by a senior instructor at our dz and on a Fly Like A Pro vid my wife bought. It is recommended to know where your canopy's stalling point is and to know how it's going to react to a full on stall...and how you will react to it. Just a word of advice, always do it with enough altitude to sort out any shit that might hit the fan. Release your toggles up slowly!!! The last stall I did on my Stiletto 135 caught me by surprise and I let up my toggles a tad fast. Only half the canopy re-inflated and sent me into a spin. Quite interesting pumping ones brakes whilst parallel to the ground. Could've been line twists at 1000'...not a good idea. Think about it. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  3. Hey there, No chops busted! Like I said, I'm new to this whole forum thingy and appreciate the help. Didn't mean for your heart to skip a beat...especially when you don't know what I look like. HAHAHAHA. Sorry. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  4. Aah, but the real question is does the mathematician and physicist skydive? Cos, you know if they do, their findings might be inaccurate compared to those who spend their spare time collecting rocks, stamps and working out maths problems. Just a thought. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  5. I agree with the others about trying headdown with 45 jumps. But RESPECT to you for having a responsible head on your shoulders at such an early stage in your falling career. If there were more new comers like you the sky would be an even safer place to be. Enjoy. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  6. I think what you're got now is a cool size and you should really fly it to it's fullest. A 135 in the right hands and conditions can perform well beyond expectations. I've seen guys on 135's out swoop those with 103's and 96's. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  7. Well, there's only one way to find out for sure...JUMP!!!! Depends on what size canopy you jump, wingloading, temp and if you want to land or ARRIVE!!! ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  8. HE ACTUALLY GOT UP AND WALKED AWAY?!!!! Woah, apart from the the bumps and bruises I'm sure he also had one mother of a skid mark in his underwear!!! Btw, I'm new to this whole forum thingy. But thanks for the replies...much appreciated. Blue Skies, Free falls and Long swoops!!! ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  9. Hi there, I had recently watched the DVD Out Of The Blue and was wondering if that guy who hooked himself in before the swoop pond actually lived. It looked *%&#ing horrific!!! And if he did, what was the extent of his injuries? Just curious, Cheers. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  10. I had a old 150 that would open almost everytime with a +-800 ft snivel, soft on heading openings. My 135 does the same but every now and then even if I pack it the same way I get whacked! Some packers pack it differently but basically it's shake it out, get your long lines, quarter the slider, wrapped tail round and roll a few times...and don't push in the nose. The guy who sold me his 135 bought another one and he gets shit openings as does a buddy of mine with a brand new 120. But I think the less you do to it the better it'll open. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  11. Cool man, thanks for the tip. I'll certainly give it a go. There are currently about 5 or six freefliers at my dz and only about 2 of those are any good at hd. So all I have to learn from is visualization, video's and practice. Thanks again. Take it easy. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  12. Howzit! I did a pretty good headdown solo today, seeing as I hadn't jumped in +-3 weeks and before that I was doing alot of RW so haven't practiced much. Still getting into it. But I was really surprised and SUPER STOKED at how the jump went. I get quickly into the hd position with arms out to side and legs parted in forward split, (what's it called?), and I kept it for a few seconds but then I suddenly lost it, (legs fell over), is it because I tense up or what? I kinda forced myself back into it and then it was happy days. Picked point on the horizon and once I felt settled I copleted a 360, (I turn with my hands...is this right?), but when I tried to stop on heading I just spun faster. Any suggestions, control tips? Blue Skies, Courteney. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  13. Congrats on your 100th! In Namibia and South Africa, (don't know bout rest of world) it's tradition to jump NAKED on your 100th. It can be a solo or group effort. It's your choice. And it's the only jump that you are cleared to land in the senior landing area, (closest to the clubhouse). It's fun for everyone. Make sure it's a warm day though. But maybe on your side of the Equator you might get frostbite. hehe. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  14. Howzit, I was just wondering if anyone could give me a few tips on the correct/safe packing of a Stiletto 150. I have almost 100 jumps on it and it was second hand when I bought it. I usually get a good soft opening on it if someone else packs it but when I try I get either a snivel that last's a 1000' or a hard opening. I've been shown a few times how to pack it but I only get a 60% success rate. Any ideas out there. Much appreciated, Courteney.[email]courteneylouw@hotmail.com ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
