Woohoo! And we'll talk about the first thing that 'pops up' 'Nuthin
-
Um, but they got a fax that he's already dead LAST week...? 'Nuthin
-
ROFLMAO!! Only got this far then had to laugh! I love a fast climb, but if it goes up and will take me with it, I'm there :) I don't care what it is. It's odd, I suppose, but it's kind fun all squished up in there with as many of your buds as you can haul for a good 20-30 minutes. Talk about time to bond! hehe 'Nuthin
-
That sounds so cool! I hate you ;) 'Nuthin
-
What an absolutely awesome picture! I'm so jealous of you getting to not only go there, but jump there and get such a rockin' pic!! 'Nuthin
-
I admire his "work" too Hopefully mine will be next! :) 'Nuthin
-
EEWWW! Can't say that I blame him! 'Nuthin
-
Me too :) I think you'll find quite a few skydivers afraid of heights Congrats for being brave enough for giving it a shot! We're all glad you loved it enough to continue! Pam 'Nuthin

Yeah...like letting someone pour water over your white t-shirt for a hefty tip at the bar you waitress at or entering a fake orgasm contest at a club.... Closing pin necklaces!

I think every parent on here has been through this, but I don't think it's just parents either. Perhaps all of us at one time or other. I have two children, 10 and 6, and debated long and hard with myself about jumping. Honestly, I still do from time-to-time. Like when Merrick (my husband since I think you're new here) broke his leg last year at Quincy. There is nothing like having someone come looking for you, just after you see an ambulance leave and you 'just know' who it's for, then duck her head before giving you 'the news'. I swear I about collapsed there and then before I found out it was just his leg. I seriously reconsidered everything. But I will never stop him from actually living his life, and doing what he loves. And after everything, my kids understand that. Merrick's dad passed away when he was 8 from leukemia. He had done some work as a stuntman before that! It wasn't his daring that got him. Then my mom nearly died a year ago, completely out of the blue, from a stroke that tore up some major arteries. She's the most cautious person I know. The list goes on and on of people I've known that died or nearly died no matter how safe they were. Then there's the crazy a$$ jumper who was legend around our DZ who did things I'd never even consider, EVER, who died in a car accident. Basically, it's a personal decision. I still wonder from time-to-time if it's wrong, but it is what it is. Those who love me understand...even my mom understands now :) She even came around so much she bought my brother a tandem! If you do it, just be as safe as you can be...just as you do when you drive or anything else in your life :) (PS...scuba diving, from what I understand, is a fairly dangerous sport also...even more so then skydiving I hear - I personally don't do it so don't know much about it - but you don't hear about people getting flack from that. It's mostly a lack of knowledge about the sport and the concept itself of 'getting out of a perfectly good airplane' that makes people react as they do.) Closing pin necklaces!

I'm sorry to hear that :( I know the feeling of misplaced trust and wondering if you can even trust your instincts after that, but I grew tired of second-guessing. I decided at some point to just go with it, and if it doesn't work out, then it doesn't. Still hurts, but everyone who touches your life lives an imprint and changes you in some way. Whatever happened was probably bad, but there had to have been some good that made the 18 years worth it if you were friends for that long! And you certainly don't want to get too skeptical of people, or you won't ever have any friends cuz you're always waiting for something to happen. Closing pin necklaces!

I hear ya. Counting the minutes and seconds 'til we get back up. Keep us posted! Closing pin necklaces!

I'm so sorry to hear that. I don't know her, but best wishes for a speedy recovery! Closing pin necklaces!

You make a good point Lindsey, and honestly, I know very little about this area of things. I know that Merrick's brother is pretty severely handicapped and needs a caregiver 24/7 pretty much. He *is* allowed to play in his room (watch tv and tear up magazines basically) but never to go outside without supervision, or even eat without help. I would assume that it would have to do with the severity of the handicap *shrug*. You're right tho, we can't watch children every minute, and no one may have been aware that he had such 'interests' before now. Someone such as himself who could speak and think enough on his own to voice such a 'request' would presumably be capable of going to the bathroom without supervision, so it really wouldn't matter, I suppose, what the caregivers were doing at the time...unless he'd be gone for a longer amount of time then was necessary and no one noticed. Food for thought. Closing pin necklaces!

A day at the DZ jumping, then off to a bar/grill for a good hamburger and a few beers. Then perhaps some pool :) Icing on the cake is that it end in a hottub Fantasy is that I not have to pack the entire day jumping! Closing pin necklaces!
-
It makes you wonder (at least it makes ME wonder), if something had actually happened with the boy, could the caregiver have been held responsible? I, personally, say yes. Closing pin necklaces!

Good luck! I hope you're out doing that jump as I type. Let us know how it goes! Closing pin necklaces!

Hmmm..on my first jump I remember thinking "I can't believe I'm actually paying someone to be this friggin scared!" After my low pull, the canopy opening then hearing the DZO guiding me down I thought "A shit. I'm not gonna make it over those trees. Ah hell, this is gonna hurt." But I did, so the next thought was "He's gonna kick my ass when I get down." That's the only ones I can recall clearly besides the normal stuff that passes thru... Closing pin necklaces!
