I know I'll be seeing my family for the holidays, but it still seems so lonely when you go through the holidays alone and single. It seems like everywhere you turn it looks like Noah's friggin Ark w/everyone walking around in pairs.You see all the happy couples snuggled up together,enjoying a holiday together and it just reinforces how alone you are. I guess I'm just such a social person that I don't like walking in the crunchy leaves alone or curled up by a fire w/no one to cuddle with, etc. Anyone else feel this way around the turn of the season? When I bought the stupid thing last April it included a 1 year service warranty from HP and I bought an extra 3yrs of warranty from store I bought it from. But when all this happened HP said I was not under warranty with them and should contact the store I purchased it from if I didn't want to pay the customer support fees. So I called the store I bought it from and they said it wasn't their problem,that it was HP's problem and the store's warranty didn't cover it.So I got screwed on both ends. I'm getting my parents a desktop for Christmas and I'm strongly considering Gateway. My parents are less computer knowledgeable than I am and would only use it to surf the net,email and maybe do some printshop stuff or help keep records for our business..not much more than that.They've said the main reason they want one is to keep in touch with me via email when I move to a different,bigger college next year.So I'd like to give them that since I'll be taking my POS laptop (the HP in question) with me,leaving them with no computer here. LOL! I'm innocent. Besides,my activities at Eloy would be strictly of the partying variety..not jumping. I'm taking a break to get my life on track/focus on transfering to a new university.My budget would be shot if I tried to jump right now. But I'm all for making Eloy my winter vacation destination.

I didnt describe the problem in my first post b/c since the sys recovery had already been completed I didnt see the need to give details on things that were too late to do anything about. I had someone post the prob here earlier in the weekend and had numerous comp savvy people from dz.com try to help,including remote assist from those that make their living working with computers.I talked to my ISP and HP and no one could figure out what was wrong with it,hence the reason for the recovery.I described everything in minute detail to everyone I talked to not just "it doesnt f'ing work". I DID buy a 3 yr warranty from the company I bought the computer from and they were also one of the numerous people I talked to today and they said that the warranty didnt cover this type of error. Its not that I'm necessarily blaming them for my comp turning to crap.I'm blaming them for having the shittiest customer service I've ever encountered in my life! For the record,I bought this comp in April of last year and since then I've had to have the HD replaced, 2 new modems and 2 system recoveries performed,not to mention a slew of other probs which I've spent hours on the phone with their asshole reps. Well, I'm about as lost on computer stuff as a monkey doing algebra. I would have backed up my important stuff,but I didnt know how to do that w/all the other shit that was happening to my comp at the time.To top it off,I asked the HP guy I was currently on the phone with if he'd help find a way to back it up and he just said that my call had been very long and he needed to help other people..ie no he wouldnt help me back my stuff up and that I should call back when I was ready to do the system recovery. I was so upset and frustrated after being on the phone non-stop for 6+ hours about this f***ing computer that I just gave up and lost all my stuff since he wouldnt help me.To top it all off,I'm STILL having comp probs. I've been without internet service since Saturday.After getting help from every friend I knew I finally gave up and called my ISP who, after 2 hrs of working with me,told me it wasn't their problem and to contact the manufacturer of my comp which is HP. After spending over an hour on hold before I ever got to speak to anything with a pulse I then spent the next 3 hours working with a guy who had less english speaking skills than my boston terrier. After extreme frustration on my part and a $60 fee just to talk to someone about my problem they told me the only thing I could do was a system recovery.Well I was unable to backup any of my information on my comp and they wouldn't help me with that either so I lost EVERYTHING...over 5GB of MP3s,all my pics,school work,receipts etc. Not to mention I had to call back 4 different times and wait just to have this one prob fixed b/c they told me "the call was taking too long and they needed to help other customers". WTF? I'm a customer! Help me! This is the 3rd time I've lost all my data to a problem like this after 2 system recoveries and one total HD replacement and I bought this computer brand new last April. So here I sit, on the verge of a migraine and desperately wishing for a drink after 6hrs of working on this piece of crap computer. I am buying my parents a desktop computer for Christmas and it damn sure will not be an HP.So thats my rant and advice for the evening..do NOT buy HP shit!
