    covid-19

Sad day for the USA more than 100 000 dead. At least the rate is slowing down
  2. To be honest it’s rather sad. It’s pretty clear his mental capacity is failing fast. He used to be very clever and fully computer literate. But now he’s a scared old man. Doesn’t understand Windows since they changed it from Win 95. And don’t even mention smartphones! A friend of mine tried to talk to him about the lifecycle costs of nuclear and my dad flat out refused to listen.
  3. I’ve stayed out of this thread. But my father has driven me over the edge! I’ve had 6 weeks of every evening and him writing letters to the BBC, his local MP and everyone else he can think of. He’s an 80 year old retired electrical engineer with a long history of power electronics (designing 25kA rectifiers, electrical locomotives etc). His view is that green energy is a farce, technology pushed by people with humanity degrees and no knowledge of electrical engineering. The ONLY viable solution to him is nuclear. I am an electronics engineer, but not very knowledgeable in power systems and with very little interest as well. So I’m not going to pretend to know much. I guess I agree with my dad that fossil fuels are not sustainable, personally I like green energy. I’m puzzled why wave and hydro aren’t more widespread. Any way rant over :)
  4. No he doesn’t. He believes that if a product is a success it happens overnight otherwise it’s a failure. A few of us have pointed out other typical product cycles and its fallen on deaf ears
  5. I’ve seen America change. You didn’t get European size ‘small’ rental cars back in 2000, by 2016 Toyota corollas are quite common. As I say, look at product development. Everyone said cellphones were rich men’s toys and would not gain wide adoption. With every technology there are early adopters who take the risk. Eventually the majority adopt the tech and then finally the laggards and conservative people shift across. My dad still has an old Nokia and says smartphones are shit. I imagine when 90% of the USA are in electric vehicles you’ll be in a Ford F250
  6. You’ve never been involved in product development have you? Honestly if you’ve got any intellectual curiosity research virtually every major technology. Cellphones, colour tv, radio, video, CD’s and look at how long they took to get widespread adoption
  7. I think Bloomberg is fairly balanced. Will be interesting to see France and Italy as both cultures are quite touchy And feely (hugs and kisses). Also saw an article that says it’s evolved and symptoms are taking longer to show up now
  8. I’m sure back in the day that was the argument against moving away from horses. You could only get gas at limited places, food was readily available and cars were for the rich.
  9. So you’re just making stuff up like he said! You’ve droned on and on about him being inconsistent and yet when cornered you’re too arrogant to admit you were wrong.
  10. That’s the problem. Innocent people get hurt by the idiots.
  11. Look on the bright side. The world is over populated and losing the stupid and ignorant ones raises the collective IQ

    Q

Right so you are a self confessed terrorist, as per the FBI position on Q. Im sure Jesus is really proud of your actions. Alternatively you don’t care as Jesus will forgive your sins. So maybe like Trump you’re happy to rape and pillage knowing that Jesus died for your sins.
  13. With an attitude like that, how are you any different to an Islamic fundamentalist celebrating a beheading video? I find celebrating death morally repugnant
  14. As an outsider, I would say the US lacks integrity. For all the complaints about Russian interference in your election, it is something the USA/CIA has done for decades around the world. There is something strange about large corporations and countries, they develop their own identity that is separate from the individuals. I worked at an extremely toxic company, and yet I can’t say a bad thing about any individual- everyone was pretty nice. Point being, I’ve spent a fair bit of time in the US and generally got on with everyone.
  15. Do you think America has integrity? I don’t mean do individuals Americans have integrity, of course the majority do. But as a nation and how it conducts itself?

Absolutely correct! The level of self deception they will go to, to ensure that their idol Trump is innocent. Notice how the language is ‘well he didn’t really say that’, they have bought Trumps propaganda hook line and sinker. Of course if Biden happens to mis speak or forget line or two, it is irrefutable evidence that he is not competent.
  17. Based on the utter devotion to Trump and his elevation to god like status by a reasonable minority of posters here, I stand by my thoughts he’ll be re elected. I wouldn’t be surprised if some people just vote for him out of the fear of what he will do if he loses.

Did he say that? Granted we all mis speak every now and again, but the leader of a country can’t afford to do it often.

    Q

That’s ok, it’s just bias. Turtle has admitted as much.

That is such a narrow world view. There is plenty of room for debate and working towards the best solution with different viewpoints. That is not the same as bias. Maybe that is the problem with America, it is black and white thinking. You’re as bad as each other, Republicans will stand by the most stupid viewpoint simply because it’s ‘their’ man and Democrats seem to be identical.

Ok point taken. Remove Kim and leave Trump as the class clown

That’s nonsense and you know it. You always claim that if the Dems put up a reasonable candidate you’d vote for them and then you scramble to justify all of Trumps actions and vilify his opponents. So by action you show extreme bias, but in words you say you’re open to a dem. It is refreshing to see that you are at last admitting you’re a Trump supporter and use your bias to support him. Jakee has been trying to get you to do that for months. As to my bias, I think Trump is a despicable human and can’t imagine you could do worse. But as a non USA resident I simply don’t know much about Biden as there isn’t a huge amount of international news coverage of him at this point. From a world point of view, Obama made considerable progress in restoring respect for the USA after GWB. World wide I think Trump and Kim compete for biggest idiot.

How can you have a problem with lying? Trump has told over 10 000 documented lies and you still cut him slack! I think it’s extremely hypocritical of you and shows just how right wing biased you are.
