The way you talk about being in the military and bragging reminds me of when my son was 15/16 and wanted to join the military and be some kind of Rambo. As he’s gone through the special ops selection and training he talks a lot less about guns and what a hero he is. In fact the arrogance is gone and replaced by a quiet confidence and you would be hard pressed to get him talking about ‘work’ these days. If you’ve got to tell people you have the skills, you probably don’t.

My dad had some interesting and occasionally whacky ideas.

A long lost ghost! Haven’t seen you here in a long time!

Any HR manager who is prepared to voice opinions like that at a company event is a problem. Although I do wonder about the full context because how does that topic even come up? Not knowing the full story and context I can see an argument for an applicant being rejected for expressing a political, religious or other controversial view on a CV. We don’t want to know that you’re passionate about guns or equal rights when you’re applying to do an unrelated job. Simply having pronouns isn’t expressing an extreme view, lots of people have CV’s on recruitment templates or with professional help and it may not even be something they care about. Even if it is a personal preference it’s not an issue. If the head of HR is that prejudiced it’s probably doing them a favour and helping avoid a toxic workplace with awful executives.

When I was 17/18 my best friend was the son of a diplomat and I got to hang out with diplomatic kids. Eric couldn’t drive and his dad used to let us go out with me driving with diplomatic plates. The diplomats may follow the law (or not), but their teenage kids were wild. We pretty much ignored all the road rules we didn’t like and told the police to F off. How we never died I don’t know.

I get your point, but am thinking of people saying illegals aren’t subject to the law (I forget the exact wording)

Big wide world out there… Beyond MAGA land there are countries in different time zones where our dear leaders don’t shit their pants in church.

Thanks Mark

The whole argument reminds me of the ‘sovereign citizens’ nonsense that is going on. I’d venture to say that everyone against birthright citizenship makes an exception for rich white illegal immigration’s. I’d have a bit more respect for the anti illegals if they were clamouring for Elon and Melania to be kicked out.

My dad wrote a book about self development and spirituality about 30 or 40 years ago. It was always his dream to have it published, but he never got around to it. I discovered a few weeks ago that copyright law and his will meant I could publish it. I was able to self publish it on Amazon kindle and print and within 48 hours of it going live it achieved Sales Rank of number 1 in Personal Growth and Inspiration category and 1716 in overall Kindle ranking. Pretty proud of him and happy that it’s getting read.

The concept of a rate is that it is normalised to population size and therefore doesn’t include a comparison of the number of aliens with that of the entire US population. Jeez, no wonder people vote for Trump. Isn’t this stuff taught in US schools?
-
Doesn’t your normal 3 step end up with ‘everyone’s doing it’ or something similar? So perhaps the end game to fixing the grocery prices is eating the pets … because everyone is doing it and Hillary did it first
-
That’s ok, Didn’t Trump promise to fix it all quickly? I mean at least the war in Ukraine will be over before he even gets into office, since he promised that. So that should free up some foreign aid to help.

I’m wondering what would make the CEO’s and politicians wake up and pay attention to the masses? Democracy is broken for most of us in the west as the politicians have their snouts in the trough. So voting them out isn’t realistically an option. Essentially we need a revolution and course correction to redress the balance. Without living in lala land and believing that thoughts and prayers would fix it, what non violent options are there? Violence is distasteful, and certainly should never be the first resort. But, being honest this single event dominated world news for a few days and got people’s attention. It seems that Karl Marx pretty accurately summed it up with the bourgeoisie exploiting the proletariat. With what I’ve learned about Marx I do wonder why it’s such an insult? Unless it’s a desperate attempt by the elite to ensure people don’t think too much about the reality. Taking violence off the table how do we get the attention of corporations board members?

“ Donald Trump, who is preparing to take office as President, recently adjusted his statements about lowering prices quickly. In an interview with Time Magazine, he said that while it will be very difficult to bring prices down, he believes it can happen eventually. He specifically mentioned grocery prices, saying it’s not easy to reduce costs once they have gone up, but he is confident that improvements in energy and supply chains will help. When asked about the rising grocery prices, Trump explained that supply chain issues are a big reason for the problem. He compared the situation to what President Joe Biden has said in the past” From an article discussing Trump’s interview with Time magazine. I don’t understand why so many people continually fall for his lies.

Michael Cohen has the best two. Von Shitzenpants and simply Donald. I’ve noticed Donald really gets under his skin.He sees being called by your last name as a position of power and respect and first name is reserved for pathetic underlings and women.

Honestly good on you. I’ve got a lot of admiration for people who make good investments. The power question wasn’t meant to be a pun :) I know in your case it’s irrelevant and I haven’t seen the change in stock price, but I wonder how much it is driven politically since he became Elonia.
-
Yes it’s fake, but it’s still being circulated lots which makes it viral advertising.
-
Thought this was pretty good advertising

Out of interest how much of that $420 is buying access to power? I know you’re a big advocate of renewable energy, and your investment in Tesla sounds like it was long before the insanity, but I can’t stand Musk and on principle will not support his businesses.
-
You mean you’re a soft woke liberal now? Hopefully you don’t need to intervene much, most of us have shared this forum a long time, despite differences. Would be nice to end it without civil war
-
Is that for all of them? I know New York is state level

Do you always argue? Probably one of very few posts supporting nuclear energy and you can’t even be interested in the story? I’m not sure if you’re aware but 10 x 10 0.5mm is very small. Of course there are practical limitations and peak current draw to consider, but you can pack 2.5 million batteries into 500 x 500 x 500mm. That amount of diamond is going to cost a little though!

It’s the biggest flaw of the Democrats. They pussy foot around while high power republicans rub it in their faces. Have some backbone and say “Sure, we will treat illegal immigration an as issue, we will start with the ones who have openly admitted it and make an example of them” Send Elon to Guantanamo for all I care. Then let Trump and the MAGA leadership expose their duplicity and make exceptions. Although I suspect Trump would be glad to see the back of Musk around now and would leave him out to dry.
