  1. I bet that fuels the aeroexcrementation stuff quite well...
  2. >stamps foot, kicks desk (ouch!) and bangs head on keyboard, >while eyeing windowledge lovingly Kerry, I suggest you get a couple of hundred jumps before trying BASE... But since BASE seems to be your only option at the moment, do get proper guidance before doing it.
  3. Other than the half a dozen or so new forums? It's been even quieter than yesterday I think...
  4. That's not a subliminal message... This is a subliminal message...
  5. This has happened to me more than once, and I've only been using PC's. I'm using Opera 6.05 at the moment. I think it most often happens when I do the following: -I leave a window open(at Talkback for example) when I close the browser -Then start the browser again, the same page gets loaded but I'm not logged in -I log in, to find out that there are no new posts There have been a few other times the posts have been marked read without me reading them. I'll try to keep an eye open for when this happens.
  6. >If there's wind and not too many people in the sky after you, >you can add a little bit of brake to slow you forward speed This can be a bad idea: If there isn't enough wind, going to brakes will flatten the glide angle, and you'll end up overshooting the landing area even more.
  7. I personally don't think it's a first priority feature. There's a lot of info in the forum screen and it can't be all at the top.
  8. To tell the truth, I was cut off the 'Net for more than an hour in the morning, and then after that I had to work for some time! But I think I can dedicate most of the rest of my "work"-day to you guys...
  9. You could also put to all the topical forum's posting screens a note similar to the one in Incidents. These would disappear after a number of posts.
  10. Yeah, like, who does he think he is??
  11. Talking to myself in the ghost-town again... And another episode in our ongoing series of "Catch that reference!" -"We fear change." Are people afraid to post here after the new forums got around? Everybody disappeared from here after HH started to shake the forums around... I've had to work for two days in a row now people! It's no fun to post-whore by my self... Or is it that people have actually started to think about what to post and what to not? Are they out there preparing the well thought-out, intriguing and to-the-point posts? Will all the regular ex-post-whores shun me after I post this message, which has no real information in it whatsoever?
  12. >Yes... you have a problem! It's been there for the past few months! And a nice feature too; I've noticed at least two of my friends who had signed up because of that feature, and a number of not-so-well-known acquaintances as well...
  13. >Erno, why do you have boiled cabbage in your leather shorts?? Actually that's supposed to be "sour cabbage"(I really don't know how it translates to english). Some kind of weird German specialty anyway... And no, I have no idea on the origin of the sentence, it's just some kind of a flying catchphrase here in Finland... Man, this is the ultimate post-whoring setup; I now have two computers side by side at DZcom...
  14. > I welcome feedback and suggestions. Have fun! Ok here goes: I think that the "Events & Gatherings" and "Places to Jump" are pretty much related. You know, somebody thinking about "where can I jump when I go to Elbonia?" and then when he'd go to the combined forum, he'd see the post promoting "The Elbonian Freefly festival". And even combined, I don't think the number of posts would be too high. What do you think?
  15. Well damn! I just managed to see that some changes were happening in the forums, when all of the sudden(well, not really), the network connections at work got cut. I can't work without them.
  16. "Hello, my name is Erno, and I'm a skydiver." "Hello Erno!" Welcome to the forums Stephen!
  17. Ein bier, bitte. Ein wienerschnitzel, bitte. Ich habe seuerkreut(sp?) in meine lederhosen. Ja, ich komme ich komme. This concludes my working knowledge of German.
  18. >I suggest an annual subscription fee to these forums. Read for free >but if you want to post then pay up. Lets say about 25$ per year. I think I'd be ready to pay, say, the price of a jump ticket per year. One problem would be that even though the money wouldn't be an issue for most people, the additional trouble of paying would be. And there are people who rarely post, but whose posts I'd like to keep seeing on the forums. People like Bill Booth at Gear and Rigging, and Brent Finley on the camera forum. Would these people pay the money? The biggest problem to me is that I have no way of paying. I have no credit cards. I would've ordered a DZcom t-shirt by now, but there's no practical way of paying for it.
  19. >Careful using all enclusive statements Erno, methinks that I >am only a few or six hours behind you and I do work third shift Well bah. Talking about the people who work, like, normal hours... >I will be at Atlanta Skydive Center watching the swoop meet, >in the sun not the snow Ouch. Oh well, the snow's better than the damp darkness that was here until now...
  20. Morning all! It started snowing during the night, and it still hasn't stopped! The attachment really does no justice to the way it looks like here now... It's nowhere near that dark, looks pretty neat actually. The snow is coming in horizontally, but I don't mind 'cause it's friday and I'm going to the halloween-party at Paul's tonight. Ooh, I got an idea: tonight, while we are getting ready to consume great amounts of beer, the americans will still be at work. I think I'll set up a live connection to the DZcom pub from the party. The americans get to be at the party during their work day!
  21. >Is there or is there not a scientific way to increase your chances >of winning a lottery? Is it mere luck? The way the lottery works here, there's no way of increasing your chances of winning, but there is a way of increasing your winnings in case you do win something. We draw 7 numbers out of 39. With 4 right you win a small sum of money. This sum is determined according to the number of people who guessed 4 right. So the trick is simply to play the least popular numbers. Since people tend to play with their birth-dates and such, the smaller numbers are much more popular than the larger ones. Therefore, if you win with a combination of large numbers, there will be fewer people sharing the money. Another bad idea is to play combinations like '1-2-3-4-5-6-7'. This is the most popular combination played. Every single week. If the numbers happen to come up one day, the winners wont get enough money for a decent night out.
  22. How about modifying the Forum Rules post to say: "Search(and read the FAQ) before you ask" or something to that effect.
  23. >I just can't justify two jump tickets for a haircut I'd really only have to spend one, but that's one too many. That's why I look like the dude in the chainsaw pic again. Bile: Why should we call you Kerry?
  24. I'm pretty sure sar911 wont be nearly as happy being Skymoma's bitch... Did you check the profile?
